Shanghai Lianzheng Hotel (People's Square Subway Station)

I was going on a family vacation to Shanghai for two days and one night, and I decided to stay overnight here, closer to the center and Nanjing Road. I chose this hotel because it was a good price for a comfortable overnight stay with my family, and the photos were very beautiful and clean. But when I arrived in Shanghai to check into this hotel, I was immediately disappointed because the staff was busy with their own affairs and the check-in process took quite a while, but that's a minor issue. Then, upon entering the lobby, there was a terrible smell of smoking, and since it was literally in an alleyway and people could walk back and forth, it was very unpleasant. The renovation itself leaves much to be desired. Then, when we entered the room, we immediately noticed that it was very dirty. At first, I decided to check the bathtub, but I was very disappointed because it was so dirty that I was disgusted to wash there or even go in there. Well, the worst part, I think, was the dirty bed linens and towels. When I opened the towel, I was surprised to see holes in it and hair stuck to it. The same thing happened with the bed linens. They were dirty, and the room itself was stuffy because the air conditioning was poor. Then I realized that the room looked good in the photos because of the coloring and clever photo editing. I sincerely advise against visiting this hotel, even for the free price. Another downside is that they didn't provide extra water like other hotels. A few days later, I stayed at hotels in Beijing and Zhangjiajie, and all three were about the same price, but they were 100 times cleaner and better. I just want to warn other travelers so they don't fall into the same scam I did and ruin their experience of such a beautiful city as Shanghai.

Nice with this price, remember price increase on weekend

Location is good, easy access to main attractions and subway. The room is okay. Cleanness could be better. Staff and guests smoke in the room and corridors making the smell unbearable. We changed rooms and it helped but not solved the problem. They seem not to care about the bad smoke smell everywhere. Staff does not speak English, you will need to use a translator device to have a (difficult) communication.

I would said that location is good. The room is rather small, however I slept well while my stay nights. Price is good for such accommodation can not complain🤭 Next trip to Shanghai I will still book this hotel… because is within my budget, I could save $ for good food or travel further.

My second time stay here(and got the same room again) main reason why I came back in the amazing location. Thanks for the early check-in and let me switch to a room with washing machine. Well done for change of the staff smoking at the front desk. Cleaning needs a bit of work (maybe vacuum the room, a few super long hair found in the room). I would stay here again and have recommended this to my friends. Love to see some category of smoke free rooms.
