Wow what can I say ..we loved everything about this hotel/concept. No fuss check in , beautiful rooms, beautiful communal area with honesty bar, small gym, laundry facilities and relax / games area downstairs. Umbrellas for use, free parking , right next to the walled entrance gate of Rothenburg ob der tauber. We paid for breakfast in the sister hotel and it was perfect. Pity we didn't get chance to sample the restaurant for dinner as they were closed. Plenty of toiletries and powerful hairdryer. Loved this place!

It’s a bit more like a better quality hostel other than the breakfast. The location is good. Please is clean. 1. Price is too expensive for the place. 2. The toilet are not covered up. 3. Pillow is not comfortable.

great location with own parking; perfect renovated unit, very quiet and has air-con, great concept of having a self service coffee / kitchen area at the entrance only topic - no elevator in case you need one

The hotel is so beautiful and comfortable to look at, but I couldn't find the key after checking in for a long time. I found it later with the help of a hotel guest, which was very thrilling. The hotel is clean and spacious. The location is also very good, very close to the city.

After seeing the German design, it is really silly and empty. The industrial style is not easy to use. The check-in physical examination is very average because it is in a scenic area and the price is very expensive. I do not recommend it.

Fantastic. Clean hotel, very well decorated, large rooms, super equipped shared kitchen and the main one, free laundry available to guests (with washing machine, dryer and even soap and fabric softener capsules). I highly recommend it! The hotel has free parking. The location is also excellent. A few meters from the entrance to the old city.

Very average, not very comfortable

What a excellent hotel in a great location. Modern hotel spotless inside and out. Rooms stylish. Free tea coffee in the kitchen downstairs and a trust bar with snacks. Just fill a form in what you have taken. Would highly recommend if you are looking for somewhere to stay in the area

Brilliant location just at the entrance of the old town which was just such an amazing place to visit. Great little hotel at reasonable price and extremely clean and modern. Our room was lovely overlooking the front garden and spacious (room 4 / deluxe double). Loved the fact that there was a communal washing machine we could use with complimentary washing liquids as well as the open plan sitting area with a trust bar. Would highly recommend this gem. Also handy to have free parking right outside the entrance. A few odd things about our room that didn't bother us, but might do some others. Glass toilet cubicle you could see into was not great / no full length mirror and shower looks great but not powerful despite two shower heads.

Good: - tasteful hotel and rooms - breakfast - fully equipped kitchen free to use a s a guest - cross platform tv streaming Bad: - there’s an Apple TV for every room, but ours didn’t work + interfaces are by default in German instead of English (I’m a native Dutch speaker)

Amazing, stylish and beautifully restored and decorated older building right outside one of the tower entries to the city. Definitively a highlight of our trip, the place is impeccable and very modern. Be aware that you may want to know very well who you travel with since the bathroom is pretty much open, and the toilet closet does not have good ventilation so... you have been warned. There is a common kitchen where you can make tea and coffee all day and get a few things if you want that they can charge to your room for pretty reasonable prices. The hotel is definitively a place to say and parking is great and by your room. And wifi excellent, I had to do a few conference calls with video on and I had no issues at all. Stay here if you can!

Pleasant surprise! Very quiet hotel perfect for couples, nice shower, bed, amenities, free coffee and water. Space for work or have a meal in the common areas if you need. High end decoration. Very well located as it’s less than half a mile from the city gate. Parking included in the location, easy access, easy check in, pleasant staff. Flawless! Highly recommend!

We were delighted with our two night stay here! We booked an “extra large” room and it was huge! The bed was extremely comfortable and the space was quiet. The shower was large and wonderful. The enormous bathtub was a treat as well. There’s a furnished patio area in front of the building where we were able to relax with a glass of wine after a day of visiting Wurzburg and exploring Rothenburg. We appreciated the included parking and easy access from the highway. In my view, Alter Ego combines the advantages of an Airbnb (independence and kitchen facilities) with those of a high calibre hotel (staff available - at Villa Mittermeier next door - to assist and/or answer questions). Each of the three staff people with who we had some interaction were polite, kind, and helpful. We didn’t realize it till we were on the verge of departure but there are laundry facilities available at Alter Ego. In short, if we were ever going to visit Rothenburg again this would absolutely be our first choice for accommodation.

The hotel was great! Comfy bed, big room and great breakfast. However, I had 3 interactions with the front desk and all were not up to standard. The first was when I arrived and I was told breakfast was not included and when I asked again, the receptionist was simply not pleasant and with little patience. The 2nd was when I asked for extra towels as I needed them for my morning workout, they never came. The last took the cake. I was checking out and the receptionist gave me a pen from a bowl of pens, asking me to sign the credit card receipt. I did as was told and put back the pen. She looked at me, removed the pen said that’s perfect, now I have to sanitize all the pens! Completely rude and uncalled for!
