Stayed here for 1 night as I had to be in the area before I moved into an other hotel within walking distance. The location is great but this hotel is very dated and basic. Sink was leaking as well in my room. Not really worth the price IMO there are better options around the area. Location is central and very convenient tho!

Stayed for the last night of my trip in Porto. First few days I stayed at a hostel across the street and decided to take in some good rest before the transition. This place did absolutely allow me to rest and recover. Great interior, has a vinyl player inside a room which I thought was a very unique feature here. Air conditioning was working fine, has hair dryer, towels, fridge and microwave. Downstairs is a cafe owned by the same property. Location is very convenient right at the major intersection of the city. Highly recommend to other travellers.

As soon as my son and I arrived at Porto, we entered the accommodation and felt so good.
It was a very clean and pretty accommodation.
The location was so good that I walked to São Bento Train Station and the Dom Luis Bridge for sightseeing.
It was a very satisfactory stay as there were many restaurants and shopping centers near the accommodation.
Highly recommended!

The staff is very friendly.
They responded to the customer's requests as much as possible.
The location is good,
but the breakfast was a bit disappointing,
and above all, the hotel is old and the facilities are outdated.
I thought I would never visit again after seeing brown rust coming out of the toilet water.

We were in Santa Week in 15 minutes by car from the center and a little difficult to localize the hotel since it is in the shopping centre . Perfect facilities a little old but in good condition .
We take our dog and the only thing that doesn't let him enter the dining area.
It was a stage for the world's nobles and aristocrats, a refuge for spies, politicians and exiles and a setting for artists, bohemians and intellectuals. Many were the personalities who associated their name or their stay in Porto with one of the city's oldest hotels. A hotel that doesn't stand still. In order to meet the needs of all its guests and provide them with the best stay, the Grande Hotel do Porto has been renovated, adapting to different requirements, always with the aim of offering all the comfort for those looking for charm in the center of Porto. More than a century after it opened, Porto's first "Grande Hotel" continues to make history, written every day with each guest who visits us and with all those who return to Porto. A stay at Grande Hotel do Porto places you in the heart of Porto, steps from Majestic Café and Bolhao Market. This eco-certified hotel is 1.3 mi (2 km) from Ribeira Square and 1.4 mi (2.3 km) from Porto Historic Center. Enjoy recreation amenities such as a fitness center or take in the view from a rooftop terrace. Additional amenities at this hotel include complimentary wireless internet access, concierge services, and a vending machine. It's a little far from the Douro River, but the location is really good.
The moment you open the revolving door and enter, you feel like you've visited a mansion from the past~
Friendly service from experienced, professional staff
The ibis Porto Centro hotel is located in Porto's old town, close to the city's most iconic monuments and to the Bolhão metro station (follow signs for Rua Fernandes Tomás and take the first right). This completely non-smoking hotel is just a few miles away from the Exponor and Europarque exhibition centers, making it the perfect destination for business or leisure. Relax in one of our 77 modern rooms or in our bar and enjoy the great services on offer, including free WIFI and a snack bar.
GGuest User2024.08.14
It is located in the center of Porto, so it is very convenient to go anywhere. There is a big supermarket downstairs, so it is very convenient to buy things. The only problem is that the room is too small and the suitcase cannot be opened at all. That is to say, the price is relatively cheap, but the room is too small. If you are traveling with a family, please be careful when choosing this hotel.

Outstanding
GGuest UserAccomodation looks exactly like the photos. Very clean and quiet. Location is very central and right by the metro entry. Kitchen is well equipped for two and couple complementary coffee pods for first day use. Only thing to improve is the washing machine/dryer could be more powerful as it took a few hours to dry off the wash load. Also building is a block away from the reception so a bit of hassle to go to the office for the laundry room key there and back for each use.
GGuest UserLast year I had the most wonderful stay at Menina Colina, and was excited to return. Unfortunately I now wish I had reserved elsewhere, as it has been nothing but a disappointment.
Prices are so much higher than a year ago, but I thought I got what was a good deal on the garden room. Turns out it is greatly overpriced for what is offered, as it has none of the exquisite design or attention to detail that the interior rooms have. It also seems to be neglected in terms of maintenance. The coffee machine was leaking, and after reporting it, it was made out to be my fault as I was using it incorrectly. I had to physically show a member of staff the leaked water for them to agree to replace it. I was really annoyed that they felt that they needed to demonstrate to me how it works rather than just replacing it immediately.
The next disappointment was that the room was initially not serviced at all, and no explanation was given. When you are paying $165 for a mediocre room (not even including breakfast), one would at the very least expect the bins to be emptied.
The bathroom also had a terrible smell that permeated the room, and mosquitoes were a problem too.
Management did offer me lunch or attendance of their fado show, but none of these arrangements fitted into my busy programme. I thought a small financial compensation would have made more sense. That did not happen, and nothing further was mentioned or discussed on check-out.
The final issue was the online check-out which they require. When I tried to complete it, my bill was for my entire stay, although 3 of the 4 nights had already been paid months in advance. So my conclusion is unfortunately that Menina Colina’s standards have dropped significantly, and that it is overpriced for the lack of attention to detail that is evident in several areas.
JJin-The location is invincible. It’s close to everywhere. The rooms are remodeled in the old house. I don’t like it very much, but the sanitation of the rooms is okay. The hotel staff are very warm and friendly. I will definitely say hello when I see them, and I will explain to you if you ask some questions. Clearly, breakfast is not bad, generally simple breakfast in Europe is worth the price.
GGuest UserAmazing location, in the middle of everything you need to see & all the restaurants, patios, live music, etc.
The hotel & the room is tiny but that’s expected with a historical place like this.
We stayed in room#2 & it had a window facing the historical wall of this building, so don’t count on much of a view or natural light!
A little bit of uphill but again that’s Porto, you can hardly get around without uphills & downhills!
The owner Maria & the manager Martha are attentive & caring & ensure you have a great experience with your stay.
When we arrived a welcome Portuguese tart was offered which was delicious & also Martha said you can pour yourself Port wine (also super tasty) any time,
MMcClouds MumBest ever decision to book in this hotel after reading many positive reviews. Situated with the tourist attraction area itself with beautiful window view of the Douro river and Luis Bridge. We walked to all the places of interest and even walked across Luis bridge to Gaia. So impressed by the convenient location of this hotel that is closed to all public transport. Even though with all the restaurants and shops below our room, surprising it was very quiet after like 9pm and we had a comfortable sleep.
Many thanks to Diego who checked us in and allowed us to leave our bags to be picked up later.
Photos below were taken from our room window.
Will of course recommend friends or family to book this hotel
BBitartBeautifully simple suite with a kitchen that saved me money by having all that I needed to make my meals in my own place. Daily cleaning meant I didn't even have to do the dishes. The service here was fantastic, although it would have been helpful to know not to show up at the apartments, but their main desk which was 2 blocks away. This could be clarified in the booking instructions next time. Location is only a 7min walk from the train station. 15 min from the old town center with a small supermarket just 3 blocks away. Check-in was fast, as well as check-out. Secure code to open the main door to the building, with elevator or stairs too.
ССаб. ЛюдмилаI dreamed to live in this type of room. Ordered earlier in Prague, it didn't work. The hotel (studio apartment) very liked. Recipeshen nearby, on the same street. The administrator is very kind, carried out, showed everything. The family room, I was alone. Upstairs sleep warmer. There's an air conditioner. The welcome portwain is very delicious! In the room everything is available: refrigerator, teapot, pans, stove, safe. I'm not in a suitcase, I was OK, but with a suitcase it will be hard to get up to the room. Hotel in the center, near the metro, supermarkets.
EEmilyI recently spent four nights at Aparthotel Oporto Sol, and while my stay was overall okay, it came with a few drawbacks.
First, the location is a bit outside the main area of Porto, which required some extra effort to get into the heart of the city. While the surroundings were quiet and less crowded, I did find myself relying on public transport or taxis more than I would have liked.
One of the main issues was the absence of air conditioning in the bedroom. During my stay, the temperatures were warm, and it made things uncomfortable at night. Opening the windows was not an option due to the presence of mosquitoes outside, which meant I struggled to find a comfortable sleeping temperature.
On the positive side, the apartment itself was spacious and generally clean. The amenities were adequate for my needs, and the staff was friendly and helpful, albeit a few blocks over. I appreciated the kitchenette, which allowed me to prepare some of my own meals during my stay.
In summary, while my stay at Aparthotel Oporto Sol had its merits, the lack of air conditioning and its location outside the main area impacted my overall experience. If you're sensitive to heat or prefer to be in the city center, you may want to consider other options. Otherwise, it serves as a decent accommodation for those seeking a quieter spot.
LLonely Railway ExplorerI travel from Malaysia to Europe all the way by train, please watch my YouTube Lonely Railway Explorer to know more.
Before I booked this hotel, I read a lot of negative reviews in Trip.com, but I know all of the bad reviews are nonsense.
As a professional traveller, I responsible to say, this hotel are worth of money, this room rate with private bath room, double bed, even they prepared safe for guests, and the cleanliness are 9/10, and just opposite the railway station, metro, location 10/10.
If you stay here, I recommend you have your meal at restaurant just next-door before here, Churrasqueira da Estação de Campanhã, the grill and the rice you definitely need it, especially if you're Asian, but non halal.
I will rate this hostel 9/10, because no hairdryer, and the bed sheet got smell, I think is because no sunlight.
And the front desk family super kind.
GGuest UserIdeal location, you can get to the metro minutes 10-15 on beautiful streets. Nearby a ton of cafes and restaurants of different price categories.
The room itself is not big. There is no refrigerator. But it is very comfortable. There were no cockroaches, no ants, no dirty clothes as it was written in other reviews.
There are a few night bars downstairs. It's very noisy, the guilt of the votes. But it doesn't stress me, I can sleep at least on a disco. But 99% of people won't like it. There are berushes in the room, but they're unlikely to help.
The biggest minus of a hotel that overlaps a lot of its pluses is that the staff member can enter your room without your consent and permission in your absence. Like they did to me. What they did there was not clear, but there was a dirty black straw (photo applied).
