The treehouses are cute though there’s only 6 showers for all dorm beds and treehouse guests. You have to buy a food package but service takes a long time so make sure you’ve got plenty of time to relax and not used to running on schedule. There’s not a great deal to do except visit a cultural village and snorkel/ scuba dive.

All in all we had a great stay, it’s a great resort and a slightly cheaper alternative to the other hotels on the islands around. The pizza and reef are amazing. Still, the resort is quite stretched, especially to go to the toilets from the tree houses is too far and all in all just not as well equipped (e.g. missing aircon) as other resorts. Its probably more suitable for younger travelers who also look for evening programms.

Great stay, the treetop house was super cute and less than 30sec walk to the beach. Make sure you do the Village Walk, 100% worth it!

This is one of the best resorts on the Yasawas for solo travelers; the dorm accommodation is large, clean and allows you to meet new people. There are also lots of activities and the food provided is great.

The resort was in a lovely location but is a little tired, understandable after covid. Even after a few emails requesting a double bed close to the beach they did not have one arraigned for us, they had put us in a Bure up the hill. I have tendinitis in my knees so that was never going to work. In the end they put my husband and I in a Bure with twin beds closer to the beach - not at all romantic! The meal plan was really expensive but the food was plentiful, unfortunately the restaurant was up the hill so it was a painful effort on my behalf for each meal. Unlike other resorts that we stayed in this resort required a daily fuel surcharge and we also had to pay a hire fee for fins. They did not put on Manta ray trips on either of the 2 days that we stayed there although there were Manta rays in the channel both of those days. Unimpressed. Luckily we had also booked nights at Barefoot Manta Ray Resort so ended up swimming with the mantas which was our sole reason for going. To be fair other people staying at MRIR said that they had been taken on Manta trips earlier in the week so I have no idea why they told us that there were no mantas on the 2 days that we were there - Barefoot Manta Resort said that on one of the days there had in fact been 7. This resort is much more of a backpacker resort although the high cost of the meal plan would give most backpackers a second thought.

Overall, it is very good and cost-effective. Although there are 16 rooms, it is very clean and the guests are of high quality. They are all young people from developed countries. The food is average, there are not many choices, and the price is not low. However, the manta that departed in the morning only saw Got one, a little disappointed, after all, it is manta season now

We had a terrific week at Mantaray Island resort. We stayed in a beachfront villa which certainly helped, since they have air conditioning and a great outdoor bathroom with hot water and flush toilet. The food is not 5 star but it’s pretty good. They do have a tendency to overcook the proteins, especially the fish, but there is a good variety of food and I enjoyed every meal. Breakfast is a buffet of pastries, fruit, cereal and toast but you can order off the menu as well and I believe there were 8 options. The portions are large enough for most people, including me. The best part of the resort is the people. They really enjoy what they do and they enjoy working together. They have a rousing game of volleyball together around 6 pm and you can really tell they like playing together. When they interact with you it is apparent that they aren’t just “doing their jobs” they genuinely care about you and your comfort. We found the songs they sang to us on our departure very moving, there were a few tears shed on both sides. And the best part ………. My crab beat Mili’s in the crab race. We will miss them all. Vanaka.

First, there are a variety of room types for all budgets. We stayed in a beach villa, which was great. We absolutely loved the outdoor bathroom and shower. But everyone that we met enjoyed their room. Second, there is a mandatory meal plan. The resort did a great job providing a daily menu, then preparing the meals to order. The food was top notch. Third, the activities list is huge, with something for everyone. DO THE MANTARAY SNORKEL! Unbelievable! The kava tasting was also fantastic. Thanks for a great vacation stay!

We had anchored our yacht in the bay near the resort. When we tried to raise the anchor to leave, it was stuck fast in 28 metres of water. I went ashore and asked the dive team at Mantaray resort if they could help. Handre and his colleague were amazing. They got their scuba gear together and came out in their dive boat with the captain driving. So three people from the resort helping us. The two divers went down and spent a long time freeing our anchor. They were successful and so we were able to pull up our anchor and sail to our next destination. But for their heroic assistance, I would have had to cut the chain and lose a very expensive anchor. And they did all this without charge. I cannot rate the dive team from Mantaray resort highly enough. Great friendly helpful people and very skilful divers.

Our favourite island! The staff are THE BEST in Fiji! Sak, Jerry and Enny we will miss you! The staff made our stay so special. We had the best time! There was so many activities. The Mantaray snorkelling is Amazing! The staff ensure the mantrays are respected and it is a very ethical experience. The village tour was such a special experience. The 32 bed dorm is clean and comfortable. It is divided up into rooms of 4 which makes it more private. The toilet is a little walk from the room which was not an issue for us. The food is tasty and there is plenty of options to choose from. Luke, the lamb shank was 10/10. Definitely recommend staying here.

Where do I begin … this was my favourite place during our trip. Lots of activities and entertainment throughout the day and night. What really made the time here the best was Sak and gerry for the activities and Enny for reception and help. Sak gave us a tour of the village and was so informative. He joined us for most of the activities and then led us to win the volleyball championship of mantray island resort!! We were in a group of 3 in the dorms. I would recommend it to solo travellers also as the activities allow you to make friends and feel included. I had the best time and will most definitely be back for the fun and great hospitality. Miss you Sak, Love from the Irish island gyals xxx

We did stay in a beachfront villa. Currently their top-level accomodation. The compulsory meal plan is quite OK with varied and tasteful meals, but may feel overpriced for those staying in dorm beds or tree huts. Most (not all) staff members are friendly and helpful. Welcoming and goodbye songs are great. Snorkeling at the reef is not possible direct from the beach between 3 hours before and after low tide. The current is too strong and the water level too low. The resort states explicitely that they can adapt meals to all allergy needs. Unfortunately important dietary restrictions confirmed in wrtiting 5 months in advance were unknown upon arrival. The reception promised to correct this, but did not take action. The adaptation improved after talking personally to the chef, but the damage had been done. Drinking water is produced using a reverse osmosis system. Which is a practical, useful and reliable system. As the water tasted kind of strange, we asked some questions and learned that the filter had not been cleaned or replaced according to schedule. This caused the water quality to be well below standard. To avoid drinking this water we used the clean water system installed in the bar area. This suggested the use of high quality water in containers from the main island. However, it became clear that the container is refilled using - unclean - water from the reversed osmosis system. Result was several very sick days until we finally could leave to the next destination.

We did stay in a beachfront villa. Currently their top-level accomodation. Other accomodatios are a Sea Side Bure, a family reef bure, small tree-hut cabins (without facilities) and multibed dorms. The 6 beachfront villas are luxury build and apointed inside, with an beautiful outdoor shower and lounge couches at the front side. However, these rooms are not free standing villas, but connected studios. Neighbours with two crying babies or leaving bright light on while away from their place are a nuisance. The compulsory meal plan is quite OK with varied and tasteful meals, but may feel overpriced for those staying in dorm beds or tree huts. Most (not all) staff members are friendly and helpful. Welcoming and goodbye songs are great. Snorkeling at the reef is possible direct from the beach. However not but not between 3 hours before and after low tide. When low tide is in the early afternoon, the large part of the day the current is too strong and the water level too low. The resort states explicitely that they can adapt meals to all allergy needs. Unfortunately the dietary restrictions confirmed in wrtiting 5 months in advance were unknown upon arrival. The reception promised to inform the restaurant immediately, but at dinner 7 hours later, nobody knew. Only a strong complaint the next morning to multiple staff members was effective. Lesson learned. Talk to the chef immediately. Do not rely on reception or restaurant staff. Drinking water is produced using a reverse osmosis system. Which is a practical, useful and reliable system. However the drinking water tasted kind of strange. After some enquiries we learned that the filter had not been cleaned or replaced according to schedule and caused the water quality to be below standard. Not good! To avoid drinking this water we used the clean water system installed in the bar area. This suggested the use of high quality water in containers from the main island. However, it became clear that the container is refilled using - unclean - water from the reversed osmosis system. Result was that I almost had to call a helicopter for medevac ! By using no food from the restaurant for a day and drinking only bottled softdrinks from the bar we managed to travel to the next resort according to schedule.

I don't know where to start. This place is marketed as Eco resort, what you get is very old, basic and dirty. This place is marketed as Fijian ownership, its owned by 2 South Africans. The staff are working very hard and are absolutely lovely, stay was a big disappointment. False advertising for sure.
