Hotel is small , friendly , beautiful , well kept gardens Good pool, rather cold though Good sun loungers Lovely and clean Shame they have lost some beach to nature , this needs some work , old tyres , is not an appealing look Beautiful lagoon Good choice of food Extremely helpful and friendly staff Entertainment ok Gym is rather old and over crowded Massage was lovely , worth the money Rooms a little tired, some small touches , eg: extra pillows, towels, dressing table mirror , more lights , proper chairs , balcony chairs, sun beds , etc , would make it a more pleasing, experience Couple of stray dogs ,around , would be nice if the hotel supplied water for them and waste food , at night ,in a certain area maybe . Enjoyed our stay , the staff make you feel so welcome , they can’t do enough for you , full credit to them . The boathouse is a let down , you can apparently use the paddle boats , canoes , free of charge BUT it is too windy , water to high , water to low So you actually, never get to use them The workers sit in there all day , doing nothing , they could be useful and clean the plastic from the side beach This lets the hotel down and needs addressing . A beautiful place , just a few small changes and it would be great

Response from Property: Dear Gene M, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback following your recent stay with us. We're truly delighted to hear that you had a lovely holiday and that our beautiful gardens, clean facilities, friendly staff, and relaxing massage treatments helped make your visit enjoyable. We especially appreciate your kind words about our team — your recognition means a lot to them, and we’re thrilled to hear they helped make your stay feel so welcoming. Thank you also for your constructive suggestions. We take every comment seriously as we continuously strive to improve the guest experience. We’re currently reviewing some of the room amenities and will consider your helpful ideas regarding additional pillows, lighting, and seating options both inside and on the balcony. Your thoughts about the gym and sunbed areas are also noted, and we’ll be looking into ways to enhance these facilities. Regarding the beach area, we agree that natural changes to the shoreline are challenging, but your observation about the appearance and maintenance is valid, and we will be discussing how best to address it. Your comments about the Boathouse are equally appreciated, and we acknowledge the need to make better use of both the staff and equipment there. This is certainly an area we are working on improving. As for the stray dogs — thank you for your compassionate suggestion. We'll look into responsible and humane ways we might assist, in line with local regulations and wildlife care. We’re so pleased you enjoyed your time with us overall and truly value your balanced and thoughtful review. With a few of the changes you mentioned, we hope your next visit will be even more memorable. Warm regards, The Management

Just back from an 8 night stay at this hotel. Had a great stay, the staff were always very attentive and lovely. The grounds were well kept & plenty of space to spend time in the sun. The small beach area (pictured below) was great to walk along or sit at with lovely white sand. The food choices were what you’d expect of a 3 star hotel, varied enough & always tasty so we were happy. Very spacious room (120) and always kept very clean by maids. I see people moaning about bugs in other reviews but at the end of the day it’s a tropical island in the Indian Ocean. The most we saw was wee lizards living in the grass outside! Overall I found nothing to complain about, and had a great relaxing week. Thanks to everyone at Jalsa :-)
Response from Property: Dear Traveler26073825585, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your lovely review following your recent 8-night stay with us at Jalsa Beach Hotel. We’re absolutely delighted to hear that you had a great and relaxing holiday. It’s wonderful to know that our attentive team, well-kept grounds, and peaceful beach area contributed to your enjoyment. We’re also pleased that you found your room spacious and clean, and appreciated the variety and taste of our meals. You’re quite right—being in a tropical paradise does mean sharing the outdoors with a few friendly island creatures, and we’re glad it didn’t take away from your experience. Thank you again for your kind words and for highlighting what you enjoyed. It was a pleasure to have you with us, and we hope to welcome you back for another sunny escape in the future! Warm regards, The Management

Just returned from a 2 week stay at Jalsa. Having read all previous reviews, I’ll make my own opinion. It’s a 3 star hotel, in a hot country! We had a lovely time. Staff very friendly and try to please you at every turn. We found the food ok & edible. The drinks were plentiful. Very large room and clean. (307) Boat house (Youdish) very helpful in organising trips, far cheaper than the Reps. didn’t use Spar facilities so no comment. it was their winter, although still very warm, a few quick showers and warm wind most days. In conclusion, would I return, yes. Just because it says AI, a 3* hotel will not be the same as 5*. The holiday price reflects this.
Response from Property: Dear Kim H, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent two-week stay at Jalsa Beach Hotel. We truly appreciate your honest and balanced review. We're delighted to hear that you had a lovely time with us and that our friendly team made a positive impression—our staff work hard to ensure every guest feels welcome and well looked after. It's great to know that your room was spacious and clean, and that you enjoyed the food, drinks, and warm winter weather. We're also pleased that Youdish at the Boathouse was able to assist you in planning enjoyable and affordable excursions—he’ll be happy to hear your kind mention! Thank you once again for your thoughtful review. You're absolutely right—while we’re a 3-star property, we aim to offer great value and genuine hospitality. We’d be very happy to welcome you back for another relaxing stay in the future. Kind Regards.

This could really be a very good hotel if changes were made. My wife and I arrived at about 7pm after a long boring flight, we were quickly booked in and showed to our room which was quite large and looked very nice, room 118. We were told the restaurant was open so we dumped our bags and headed past the pool to the restaurant. We were so tired we never noticed our food. On return to our room we noticed two mice just outside our room patio door, but as they were outside we thought nothing of it. During the night I heard scratching but ignored it. The food in the restaurant was not good, very poor quality and not hot enough. At night in our room a mouse ran out of the shower room In front of us we opened the door and it went out, later my wife went into the shower room to see a mouse in the shower and it escaped behind the sink. We contacted reception who moved us up a level for the night, not much sleep that night. The next day we asked to see the manager for a room swap he was very rude and arrogant and said that it should be expected in a warm country, if we wanted to stop them getting in keep the door closed and put towels down at the bottom of the door! He then showed us to a different room 110. He wasn't pleasant at all and when I said people were saying that if mice were in the rooms they could also be in the restaurant and kitchen. The manager got a bit irate at the suggestion and told us there was no chance of that happening. The next day at lunch a woman on the table next to us screamed and two mice ran through the restaurant. When the manager came he saw us and looked very embarrassed and angry. The manager I was told later was the restaurant and food manager. We received no apology at all from the manager at all. He thought it was the guests fault for daring to open the patio doors. The restaurant looked nice, but the food was of very poor quality probably the worst we have encountered at an all inclusive hotel. Only one person who we spoke to said the food was ok. Even a rep told me everyone complains about the food. Drinks are limited in choice. Coffee terrible. The pool area was about the best part, very sociable. The female staff were really happy and friendly especially Coosie*. Who were brilliant. The men were good but not as friendly. Would we recommend this hotel. No

Response from Property: Dear GB, Thank you for sharing your comment on your stay at Jalsa Beach Hotel & Spa. I am saddened to read your report as we did our utmost while you were among us. It would have been a pleasure if you could have discussed the food issues with the Management Team during your stay instead that you have had to resort to TripAdvisor, As mentioned on past reply to other reviews, Jalsa Beach Hotel & Spa has contracted one of the best pest prevention providers and that the hotel certainly does not have a pest problem. The hotel is located next to a protected nature reserve and within reason natural inhabitants will venture across from time to time. One certainly cannot expect a hotel set in the beautiful natural environment of Mauritius to eradicate all-natural wildlife in the surrounding areas. I am surprised at your comments on the attitude of the Team Members. From our many reviews it is apparent that one of the key strengths of Jalsa Beach Hotel & Spa has always been the friendly Team Members. However, we will be attentive to this comment. We hope to have the opportunity to enhance your stay at Jalsa Beach in near future. Kind Regards,

We recently returned from a 2 centre stay in Mauritius, Jalsa Beach was our second hotel, it is clean, staff pleasant, the food was ok, hotel not busy so not a lot of choice, food was hot and could always find something to eat. breakfast chef would cook eggs to your requirement. We were there for our wedding anniversary and the decorated our table and made a cake, so made it a special day. The ground kept tidy. not much of a beach but can go out in a canoe or glass bottom boat. get a taxi to the market it is an experience

This is the worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune to stay at. Believe the other reviews when they talk about the terrible food; lukewarm and repetitive. The hotel is no better than a poor 3*; there is no beach (don't trust the photos); the drinks are sugary and watered down; there is nowhere to purchase snacks; there are stables right next door and they have at least 12 dogs which bark night and day. The rooms are clean and the housekeepers are great but the rooms are tired, dark and dingy. There is absolutely nowhere to go to around the hotel. There's a bus once an hour into the nearest town, 20 minutes away. During the 2nd week, we didn't eat at the hotel and chose to eat out each day. There is very poor entertainment; just two lovely chaps who do their best to play music in the evenings. The French guests are given blue wrist bands and are invited to take part in special entertainment events, which looked to be a half hearted attempt to keep them occupied. There is no atmosphere whatsoever; I felt sorry for the teenagers who had nothing to do. I didn't meet anyone during the two weeks, who were happy with the experience. The only positives were the lovely staff and the great laundry service. Spend your money elsewhere, preferably on the north of the island where there is a wider selection of hotels and places to walk to.

My best friend gifted me a day pass at Jalsa Beach, keeping in mind it was a non-alcoholic package and located not too far from our home - as we have a baby and my husband is away. We shared the same comments after spending a day at the hotel and here're few tits & bits of our experience: •Decent price for a 6.5 hours non-alcoholic package inclusive of lunch with soft drinks, afternoon tea with snacks, pool facilities and water sports activities •Lunch atmosphere was made cosy by the staff and the food quality and variety was fair enough •Afternoon tea and snacks were good too •Pool vibe were pretty calm, thus a peaceful retreat •The birds chirping and a cute little cat made the environment very tropical and pet-friendly A special thanks goes to the team who kept a note of my birthday and thoughtfully served me a cake at lunch (least expected) Mr. Rishi, the hotel manager, went above and beyond, and gave us an extra facility as our little one was quite fussy. Can't thank you enough, and so glad we still have such hospitality in Mauritius. On the other side, reception can be a little swift and simple entertainment can be improvised such as Live music or just background music - at the pool and restaurant to make the atmosphere more vibrant. Ending with a recommendation note, for families who wish to spend a day at a hotel (in budget), do visit the place 😀

The grounds were OK as were the rooms...it is 3star...however the male staff are as miserable as sin....not a single smile over two weeks I spent there...the food was beyond horrendous....I did speak with the food manager on more than one occasion....the food was never more than Luke warm....most people just ate a lot of bread....the lack of fresh fruit and salad for such a hot country was inexcusable....I was given a plate of tomatoes on two occasions when I asked...the choice of drinks is also extremely limited and I can assure you that is not how a pina colada should taste!

It’s a lovely beautiful location & it could be a really good hotel cause the staff are great, It needs to be injected with some atmosphere I get that guest want a bit of peace but some background music would be better, their isn’t any activities during the day apart from kayaking or wind surfing in the sea but theirs nothing around the pool, the entertainment at night is very minimal, the food not the best, I have to say it’s not one off our better holidays & im sorry to say I wouldn’t recommend this hotel even tho the staff are excellent & they work with what they have, Very disappointed to say the least.

Wish I'd listened to the reviews! We booked a 'deluxe Seaview room' and yes while we had a gorgeous Seaview the room was basic at best. Old tired furniture, very poor lighting in the main room( virtually hanging off side of bed once it was getting dark as only bedside light!). There was a mini fridge in room but were told we would have to pay to have anything put in it. The restaurant was very tired and dingey. The 'food' was awful. Lukewarm and tasteless, frequently same for lunch as we had the previous night. Bread very dry, Pancakes served stone cold at breakfast and at pool on a tea time as snacks. Snacks available during day but again chargeable! Drinks mediocre. My husband caught his leg twice on broken tiles in various areas of the pool, not badly but enough to draw blood. As previously stated in another review we witnessed cruelty to the stray dogs that occasionally wandered onto the resort, they never bothered anyone as they were only looking for food. Surely the hotel could set up a corner in the grounds for food and water!! We got there on the Tuesday and by the Wednesday night I was contacting my tour operator asking to be moved, which unfortunately didn't happen. Absolutely no entertainment in hotel unless you were French. There was a board up offering full daytime activities which we never saw being offered and evening entertainment was very poor. The hotel has a lot of potential but noone seems to be interested in utilising it. Definitely won't be back and would not recommend. I forgot to mention the beach, if you could call it that. At times it was virtually inaccessible as rather than moving the seaweed that was washed in, it was piled up against the little jetty bit used to access the beach. There was quite a big pile by the time we left

This is the second time I have been here, was there 2024 July 10/07/24, 2nd time 02/07/25. The first time as a lone traveller, the second, I took my eldest son (21 year old). This resort is very quiet (loved it) if you want a quiet chilled out resort this is the place for you. If you want an activity filled holiday, this will not be for you. The staff are lovely, can't do enough for you. Rooms are rustic, clean and spacious. Pros: Chilled out Quiet Good food Rooms, clean Staff - excellent Grounds - Clean Lagoon Cons: This is a 3 star + hotel, do not expect 5 star Unfortunately attracts 2 star guests Entertainment is poor but acceptable The 2 entertainment lads like to play their own type of music (crap) Very French orientated There are a lot of reviews that say the food is bad, ignore! the food was very good, yes there isn't chicken nuggets and chips every night (perhaps go to Benidorm) Explore the island, it is beautiful, this resort is quiet, out of the way but a short bus trip to Flaque (approx. 55p) is worth every penny! Ignore the bad reviews, this is a lovely place. Remember.... if you want 5* then you will need to pay 5* prices. It's not rocket science!
Response from Property: Dear Justin F, Thank you so much for sharing your thoughtful and candid review following your second visit to our resort—it's truly heartwarming to hear from returning guests! We're delighted you chose to come back, and even more thrilled that you brought your son to experience the serenity we offer. Your description of our resort as a quiet, chilled-out haven is exactly what we aim to provide, and we're so glad that peace and relaxation continue to resonate with you. Our team works hard to create a welcoming and authentic environment, and your kind words about their dedication are deeply appreciated. We understand not every guest is seeking an action-packed holiday, and we're proud to offer a restful alternative surrounded by natural beauty, clean rustic rooms, and flavorful island-inspired cuisine. Your humorous honesty had us smiling—especially the bit about chicken nuggets and Benidorm! We also appreciate your constructive comments regarding entertainment and ambiance. Feedback like yours helps us evolve while remaining true to the tranquil charm that makes us special. Thank you again for your loyalty and recommendation. We hope you and your family continue to explore the treasures of the island and we’d love to welcome you again in the future. Warm regards, The Management

I will start with the good. The rooms are nice and spacious and the female staff are cheerful. Unfortunately that is as good as it gets. Food: Having been on numerous all inclusive holidays i know the food is never going to be a la carte but the food here is bland and lukewarm. Not once has there been hot food, and you wont see a fresh tomato unless you specifically ask for one. Greek salads with no tomato and beef black bean without the key ingredient of black bean. Entertainment is not included for guests unless you are French. The beer is awful and we resorted to buying blue marlin from the supermarket instead of drinking the awful phoenix they gave on AI. Management don't like you enjoying yourselves and we had been warned for excessive noise as we were playing cards on the balcony and laughing after 11pm. There is no music around the pool, not even ambient music My advice to anyone wanting to visit mauritius is to visit but avoid this hotel at all costs. The hotel are very abusive to the few dogs and cats on the property, throwing stones and sticks at them despite them doing nothing wrong. Overall rooms are nice everything else is awful, do yourself a favour and avoid it.
