I had the amazing opportunity to stay at a traditional Japanese ryokan, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warm hospitality that made me feel right at home. The ryokan was beautifully designed with classic Japanese architecture, tatami mat flooring. My room was serene and minimalistic, featuring a comfortable futon laid out on the tatami mats in the evening. I especially enjoyed wearing the yukata provided and walking around the ryokan feeling completely immersed in Japanese culture. One of the highlights of my stay was the onsen (hot spring bath). Soaking in the warm water was incredibly relaxing and refreshing. Staying at a ryokan allowed me to experience the calm, simplicity, and beauty of traditional Japanese living. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic and peaceful retreat in Japan.

I really like the ryokan, even though the bath is shared, there are no problem with using it. Everything is super clean. The only downside is that because the wall is super thin, if you encounter noisy guests at the hotel, it could get really loud. I had to ask a family to quiet down a bit after 12am, because they had a kid that was making commotions. But other than that I actually really enjoy the room (and it’s really the cheapest option in the area)

It is a hostel in Matsumoto city. The room is clean and spacious, but there is no private bathroom. You have to go outside to use it. There are not many bathrooms. The shower room is on the first floor. You have to walk through the lobby. Overall, it is okay. The price is not expensive.

The location is a bit far from Matsumoto Station, but it is easy to find. The riverside view of the snow-capped mountains is very good. It is really convenient to use bicycles for free. Matsumoto Castle and the old Kaichi School can be visited in one afternoon. The room is a Japanese-style room, clean, and the toilet and bathroom are outside. I am quite satisfied.

The hotel is clean, the service is friendly, and there is a bathhouse in the annex. However, the soundproofing is a bit poor. Overall, I still recommend it. There are parking spaces available, and self-driving travelers can stay here.

It is a very Japanese family hotel, satisfying foreigners' imagination of Japanese tatami rooms. Our room is called Kamikochi, on the first floor, with good lighting. The room itself is clean and tidy, and you can use the public bathroom to take a bath alone. There are many quiet rules. In short, even laughter should be controlled after 9 o'clock in the evening. But it is still relatively quiet at night (except for our neighbors who walk like monsters and slam the door hard 🥹). On Saturday morning, the construction site next door started work very early, at 7 or 8 o'clock 😅 The hotel is within walking distance to the city center, and it takes 30-40 minutes to walk to Matsumoto Castle and the Art Museum. You can overlook the snow-capped mountains in the distance from the nearby Wanchuan Bridge. There are ordinary houses nearby, and the safety is OK. In short, the cost performance of the stay is quite good.

The sanitation is very good, the room has a separate kettle and refrigerator, and the bed is very comfortable. The room I was given this time is "Bamboo", the disadvantage is that it faces west, and it is hot all night after being exposed to the sun all day. The sound insulation is really poor, the snoring next door can be heard very clearly, and it feels like the floor is shaking when someone walks in the corridor, but what kind of bicycle is required at this price. The bathroom is not independent. You can also borrow bicycles for free, but they are too high and inconvenient to ride.
