An attractive building with its charming facade. Customer service was welcoming. Small rooms, a little claustrophobic facing internally into other apartments, but hidden with pot plants so you weren't being watched. We had 2 rooms, one split beds for children, and entrance door to both could be closed off so there was interconnection with both rooms. Fittings were quaint and in keeping with the heritage building. Limited space for storage but we managed. Small bathroom in the main bedroom with limited space for storing bath items or towels. Distance to old town was a fair walk. Originally we booked thinking we would travel from Perrache station however there is limited service from this station and had to uber to Part Dieu for most of our travels to other towns. Apart from being small rooms, the only other negative is the laundry service. We had asked at the desk how much the laundry was and advised that it is dependent on the size of the laundry bag. No pricing list could be located by the receptionist. The next day we left 1/2 a small plastic bad with reception. Again no pricing was provided. When checking out we notice we were charged 71 euro for laundry. We did not want to raise this at the time of checkout due to guests in the reception, however this is very expensive price for laundry, considering it was 1/2 a bag and mainly small items. If we had known prior we would not have proceeded. Recommendations for restaurants provided and we went to 2 of them. One which is just a few steps away - Bedda Terra Mia. which I highly rate and we thoroughly enjoyed high quality dinner and drinks. The other was the best which was Carmelo closer to the old town. Very eclectic and you need a reservation. We asked the hotel receptionist on our day of arrival if she could assist with reservation as it was my birthday, and maybe it was a communication issue, but she advised us that all the recommended restaurants contact details are on their website - asserting that we contact them directly. Anyway, I reserved online for our last day in Lyon. An enjoyable stay however I would not stay in this area due to our travel preferences.

Outstanding hotel and staff. Beautifully artistically designed charming hotel. You almost do not want to leave the room and hotel you feel so captive to the surroundings. Staff was always attentive and gave great recommendations to eat and to tour. Breakfast was truly yummy. Cannot wait to stay there again.

We had to do a PCR test before we could continue in Switzerland. Couldn't find a place to test the next day. The hotel helped us and we were able to test a few hours later. We also received very good advice for visiting Lyon. Thank you. We were very pleased with our choice and would stay there again anytime.

Lovely cosy and comfortable hotel within an easy walk of all major sights. Family owned and operated they were very kind and helpful. Clean modern amenities and lovely continental breakfast. Highly recommend, was the perfect place to stay for our 1st night in Lyon.

Hotel de Verdun is a wonderful hotel. Close to Perrache station in a slightly funky (in a good way) neighborhood, it's a very comfortable place to spend a few days in Lyon. The room was perfectly clean, bed was delightfully comfortable, bathroom big enough and design and furnishing of room hotel was excellent. Staff was uniformly friendly and helpful. Gilles and Isabelle, the owners and operators of the hotel, were justifiably proud of their establishment and the folks who operate it. We look forward to staying at Hotel de Verdun 1882 again, highly recommend.

We felt welcomed and valued the moment we stepped through the door into the light, airy, appealingly decorated main hall. The staff were friendly, efficient, and helpful, relaxing us after our travel and first encounter with Lyon traffic. Our room and ensuite were spotless, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the doors closed without a sound.

We recently enjoyed a fantastic 5-night stay at Hotel Verdun, and it exceeded all our expectations. This beautifully renovated 1882 mansion perfectly balances historical charm with modern amenities, including much-appreciated air conditioning. Our family room was impeccably clean, well-appointed, and comfortable, providing a perfect retreat after long days of exploring. The attention to detail in maintaining the property's original character while seamlessly integrating contemporary conveniences is truly impressive. The staff deserves special mention for their exceptional service. Always welcoming, helpful, and wearing genuine smiles, they significantly enhanced our stay. The neighborhood around Hotel Verdun is wonderfully walkable, with a grocery store, pharmacy, and laundry all within a 3 to 5-minute walk. Just a block away, there's a lovely green square perfect for relaxing, and plenty of shopping opportunities along the pedestrian street three blocks away. It's worth noting that there's currently a school undergoing renovations across the street, which can produce some noise during working hours. However, our room faced the back of the building, overlooking charming rooftops, so it didn't detract from our experience at all. We will absolutely stay at Hotel Verdun again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique, comfortable, and well-located accommodation. It truly offers a fantastic blend of historical ambiance and modern comfort, making for an unforgettable stay.

Loved this beautiful hotel. Located in a quiet area, but within walking distance to the old town. The concierge Christoff was so helpful in recommending things to do and the best restaurants to enjoy the local cusine. The rooms are well appointed, comfortable and spotlessly clean

We spent a fabulous 3 days in Lyon staying in this hotel. Great location close to all the transport options. Really comfortable room and extremely friendly staff and owner who gave us lots of suggestions and recommendations for our stay. Highly recommend !

This is a newly renovated and charming hotel in a very good location in Lyon. The room was clean and modern, and the whole hotel has a personal and charming design. The owners were there welcoming us with the history of the hotel and recommendations for restaurants and what to see. Parking was a bit small, but we will definitely come back!

Lovely hotel in Lyon. The Inn was clean and the staff was very helpful. We took the train into Lyon Part Dieu and needed to take a taxi. It is close to the Lyon Perrache station, however. We found a few neighborhood restaurants to eat at, otherwise it is an easy walk to the center of town, including the Old Town. It was very hot (95 F) when we were there and although the hotel had a/c, the room did not get very cool. We were happy with any a/c at that point!

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in late June. It's a simple and cozy hotel close to the Perrache train station, with lots of dining options nearby. It's also very close to the old city. The room was small but comfortable, and the staff was very helpful.

Lovely small hotel set in a quiet location but still within walking distance of plenty of bars and restaurants. The staff are wonderful always ready to greet you with a smile and the offer and very welcome bottle of cold water on your return from a day sightseeing.

The only place to stay in Lyon I travel a lot and seldom write reviews unless I am impressed Well this is the only place to stay in Lyon Hotel was spotless clean Beds so comfy and room was quiet so we could get a good nights sleep Towels were fluffy, water piping hot in shower Tea and coffee in room Adequate storage for our suit cases and a little balcony Location is fantastic as so close to shopping, old town and train station Now the decor - absolutely fabulous and so quirky but in such a tasteful way A truly unique, and very very special hotel I won’t stay any where else when I’m Lyon
