Super hotel! We even extended our stay and stayed in this hotel. I recommend

The service was great, the room was nice and surprisingly spacious. It's just that the front desk's English is really poor, hahahaha, but they are super enthusiastic and can communicate with a translator, which is very cute!

Be careful, Chinese people are easily despised

For the size of a hotel in Japan, this one is amazing! It's not small and clean, and the breakfast is delicious. You can also have breakfast at the bar downstairs! Not cost-effective, very small

I really enjoyed my stay at the Villa Sanjo Muromachi. First of all everyone who works there was friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself is small but feels very private. The number we got was gorgeous with a beautiful balcony. We were provided the top service and the staff let us store our luggage for a couple of hours before leaving to the airport. Thank you so much, I definitely recommend this hotel and next time will stay here once again for sure.

Amazingly personal service and ultra niche and small hotel with attention to detail. Very practical location and parking if needed is 3 min away for Yen 1500 a day! Lastly breakfast is excellent and top ingredients but not Japanese. Owners speak perfect French as well!

This lovely hotel exceeded our expectations from the start. The area it’s in is an upmarket business section of the city with lots of cafes, bars, restaurants & retail shops. It’s very safe & quiet at night. Busy during the day but not crowded. Easy to get around. The hotel is a few minutes walk to the train station. Not far from Nishiki market & five minutes walk to the bus for Kiyomizu-Dera. Inside the hotel there’s a great bar & always a cheery greeting in the evenings from the bartender. The reception staff are gorgeous: professional, friendly & helpful. Nothing is too hard for them. The rooms are amazingly big, especially for Japan. Huge, firm bed with good pillows. Did I mention whisper quiet? It was so calming & we slept like lambs. Really nice amenities, & plenty of space in the bathroom. Loved the big rainwater shower head & the deep soaker bath. They even give you bath salts to make the experience more luxurious. An added bonus was having BBC news in English plus several streaming channels to watch while winding down at the end of the day. I would definitely stay here again. 5 stars but really deserves 6 stars. And of course I’d visit Kyoto again.

This hotel is a gem, an oasis of serenity and peace. Our room was surprisingly spacious and incredibly comfortable. I could have happily stayed there far longer than two nights. The soaking tub is delightful, the beds comfy, and the hotel amenities are thoughtful and welcoming. Breakfast is absolutely delicious and plentiful - the perfect way to start a day of touring this incredible city. Hotel staff was very helpful and kind. The location is on a quiet street, easily accessible by subway or taxi. There are many lovely shops and restaurants in the neighborhood and we enjoyed walking to several shrines and the castle. Definitely our favorite hotel during our two-week tour of Japan.

Villa Sanjo Muromachi Kyoto exceeded all expectations and became our favorite hotel during our stay in Japan. Its location is perfect for sightseeing, offering easy access to explore the beautiful city of Kyoto. The room was a highlight—spacious, impeccably clean, and featuring a large bathroom with both a huge tub and shower that made it feel luxurious. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring restful nights after long days of exploring. The staff provided exceptional service, going above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. They were accommodating, professional, and always friendly. We hired a separate luggage delivery service through Klook: our bags were seamlessly transported from our hotel in Hakone to our room at Villa Sanjo Muromachi, and later, from this hotel to our next stop in Osaka. This level of service added so much convenience to our trip and was handled flawlessly by the staff. While the hotel doesn't have a restaurant, this was perfectly fine as Kyoto offers an abundance of incredible dining experiences. The small bar, open at night, added a cozy touch for relaxing evenings. Villa Sanjo Muromachi Kyoto is a gem and truly set the standard for hospitality during our trip. We highly recommend it for anyone visiting Kyoto!

Great location on a quiet avenue in central Kyoto. The rooms were large with lots of complimentary extras and the staff went out of thier way to provide friendly service. Lots of near by restaurants and about a 20 minute walk to Nashiki Market.

The hotel was lovely and peaceful and the staff were superb! One morning I had to leave early for a tour and they were very kind and brought my breakfast to my room at 630am so I didn't have to miss it. This was very appreciated! The hotel is on a quiet street, 15 minutes by taxi from the main train station, close to the wonderful Nishiki market and easy to find your way around on foot. I travel frequently and always prefer to stay in small boutique hotels and highly recommend this one!

Beautiful excellent tiny hotel. Room was spacious and clean. Bed large and comfortable. Bath with large comfortable soaking tub. What really sets Villa Sanjo Muromachi is the staff. To a person they were responsive and helpful. At the last minute obtained salon appointments. Ordered every cab and saw us to the door. Could not have been nicer or more professional. Thank you.
