Nice place, spacious rooms - but 15min walk to the closest subway which isn't practical with luggage. Bus stop relatively close, but barely any space for luggage on those.

The room is a bit old, but it's clean. There's a restaurant and a bath downstairs, both are very good. The restaurant's dinner is cheap and delicious. If you're too tired to go out, you can go and have a look. I highly recommend it. The bath is also quite big and it's especially clean and tidy when no one is there.

First of all, let me correct a mistake. The name of this restaurant is "Wen Fa Hui Guan", not "Kai Fa Hui Guan". Please Ctrip correct the typo, otherwise the driver won't understand where this restaurant is just by looking at the Chinese characters on your direction card! I have to Google it myself. As for the room, it is equivalent to the guesthouse of Nishi Honganji Temple, spacious, clean and simple, which is quite good. The location of the hotel is also good, convenient for taking the bus, and the taxi fare to Kyoto Station is just the starting price. The breakfast was quite light and the second meal was a bit bland.

I wanted to try staying somewhere different from the usual hotels, so I chose this Nishi Honganji facility. It's a little far from the station, but there are several bus stops nearby. There's a large free parking lot, so more people may go by car. There's a shop around the front desk, and it was very spacious. The room was a 7.5 tatami Japanese-style room, spacious enough for one person. Although I didn't use it, breakfast and dinner are served in the restaurant (Ganko Nishi Honganji Annex) in the basement. It's open to non-guests, but I think most guests are guests. There is also a large public bath. I thought it was a very good price considering the location and grade.

I think this is a hidden gem of a place to stay in Kyoto. Thanks to inbound tourists, hotels in Kyoto are very expensive these days, and in some places, they are full of foreigners. This hotel is located next to Nishi Honganji Temple, which is a very good location for sightseeing, but the accommodation is cheap and there are almost no foreign guests. There is a morning service at Nishi Honganji Temple from 6:00, but you are not forced to participate. (I participated voluntarily to broaden my horizons). Dinner was okay. The breakfast buffet was quite filling. It seems that you can also stay overnight without meals.

I stayed here on a solo trip. It's a little far from Kyoto Station, but it's close to a bus stop so it's easy to get to all sorts of sightseeing spots. I think it's especially convenient for sightseeing in Nijo Castle and Mibu. Although it's accommodation at a temple, it's a comfortable place to stay for both sightseeing and business! There were many families with children there too, and the bright atmosphere was nice.
