Nice place, nice food, good service.A little bit noisy because the door isn't soundproof.

Should it be a family hotel? The front desk was quite friendly. I thought there were no bath towels. I went downstairs to ask and was told that they were on the bed. Seeing my confused face, the front desk ran to the second floor and got me a set. The room was not big (the equipment was quite complete), the sound insulation was not very good (the movement in the corridor could be heard, but the guests were relatively quiet after 11 o'clock), there was a backup heater (it is recommended to use it at night in winter, portree is still a bit cold), and tea bags, coffee, mineral water and walker's biscuits were also provided. Breakfast was provided. You can choose one of the several sets on the menu. There is also an additional self-service area (simple fruit and milk drinks and croissants). The breakfast was delicious. I paid for dinner at my own expense. The mussels were delicious. You need to bring your own: slippers, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb. Room equipment: shampoo, shower gel, kettle

The location is great. The facilities are a little old but all are kept clean. However, the price is a little high.

This home is in a very good location, right on the edge of the square, with breakfast and dinner available. The room is also very hygienic and has heating.

#positive #I was happy with the Toiletries, Nearby Activities, Natural Light in the Room, Convenience of Transport, Mosquito Control Measures, Nearby Shops; Next to the bus stop, the building vibrates every time the bus stops

This is a charming hotel in downtown Portree. It is very convenient to local shops and restaurants. Our breakfast was included (we were part of a tour so not sure if this is standard). It was lovely and had very generous portions. We ate dinner one night--it was fine but I would recommend trying other options ins town. The staff could not be more warm, welcoming, and helpful. The single room was very small -- mine had a view of the roof. The heating was spotty. Bedding was nice. The bathroom was very small (had to close the door to access the toilet). Be aware that there is no lift to the bedrooms and no one to transport luggage.

We stayed two nights at the Portree Hotel. We loved our stay here. The staff were so lovely in the reception and in the restaurant/bar, we felt right at home. Our room was quite small however, we spent most of our time in the bar/restaurant. Food was delicious and breakfast was included which was just as yum. Parking right next to the hotel is free (we were lucky to secure a spot each day) however, in busy season there is paid parking in the square. In a fabulous location. Will be back one day!

Was here on business, room was booked by the company, really glad I wasn't up on holiday. The room was the smallest I've ever seen, single bed, very small wardrobe and a desk, they supply an ironing board but there's no floorspace to put it up. The view of the litter strewn yard was to die for...... The hotel doesn't seem to have a level floor anywhere, and the top corridor smelt musty and of stale cigarettes. No sound insulation either. The heating... At the money they are charging the least they could do is leave it on overnight, I'm capable of turning it down.... The staff were excellent, and dinner was really tasty(though for the price the portions could have been larger)

My husband and I stayed at the Portree Hotel for 2 nights in September as part of a 3 day tour of the Isle of Skye. The location was very convenient as our tour bus (and other tour buses) picked up and dropped off at the square right outside the hotel. It’s also very close to the harbour, many restaurants and shops versus other hotels that are much further from the main part of town. It was a busy week in Portree so we ended up booking one night in a double room and then the second night in two single rooms. I was in contact with the hotel before our trip to try to change these arrangements if possible. They were very friendly and helpful but the availability did not end up changing. But for our second night they helped book our single rooms directly across the hall from one another which was helpful. We were happy with both room types we stayed in. The single rooms are quite small with a single bed and couldn’t accommodate two people, but have all you need for a solo traveller. The double room was more spacious and both styles have a private washroom which isn’t totally clear from the photos, so fyi. The hotel building is older and does not have an elevator so would recommend asking for a lower floor if you have trouble with stairs or have a lot of luggage. This wasn’t an issue for us and we found the look of the hotel to be very charming. We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant both mornings, this was included in our booking. The breakfast was great with some basic buffet options like warm croissants, spreads and juice as well as a menu for made to order dishes like a Scottish breakfast or pancakes and bacon. We ate dinner there one night too and had the fish and chips which were great. Highly recommend booking dinner reservations ASAP whether it’s at the hotel or elsewhere. Portree is a very busy little town and people without dinner reservations were left with very limited options. Literally book your dinner reservations when you book your trip.

The Portree Hotel is on Somerland Square, Portree. It overlooks the square. There is parking in the Square which is chargeable. Disabled car parking is free in any bay and also in the designated disable car parking bays. A Blue Badge must be displayed at all times. We stayed at this Hotel twice during May. The first occasion was for three nights (£510.00) and a week later for three nights (£765.00) on a Bed and Breakfast basis. When booking in August 2023 I expected to pay a deposit but was required to pay the total amount £1275.00 at the time of booking. The room we were allocated was well appointed with good views over the Square. The reception staff were friendly. The Restaurant was a different matter. The restaurant area was more like a pub bar rather than an hotel restaurant. The staff whilst not rude seemed to have a take it or leave it attitude to customers. Table allocation always seemed to be a problem even though we had booked Dinner each night. The staff seemed to struggle with the tablets used for the system Food was expensive and not of the best quality. We were disappointed. The breakfasts and dinners on a couple occasions the food was over cooked. For the price we paid I expected higher quality. Some of the restaurant staff require extra training in customer service. As an hotel resident we did expect better attitudes. Dinner on most night cost us around £90.00 to £100.00. Eating at other pubs and restaurants was not feasible as most used a queueing system and were very busying from before opening to when they stopped serving, All in all this was an expensive experience costing around £2000.00 for five nights accommodation. Would I recommend staying her? I don't think I would. There is better and cheaper accommodation elsewhere in Portree.

I visited this hotel with three friends and our three dogs. We were looking to have a meal out for the evening. Thankfully, our dogs were welcomed into the hotel bar area and a table was secured. The place was buzzing with locals at the bar as well as filled tables of people enjoying the cuisine on offer. The menu was presented alongside a special evening menu too. To put things short the food was exquisite and refreshingly tasty and enjoyable. Presentation was to a high standard and quality of ingredients second to none. I personally enjoyed a refreshingly light beetroot salad, followed by a succulent, tender piece of unctuous beef with braised melt in the mouth onion slices and carrots in a delightful sauce with a side of roast potatoes. The additional delight was the colourful blueberry and passionfruit sorbet meringue with a piped dollop of cream to top off an enjoyable evening meal. Upon questioning the helpful waitress, I was surprised to hear that the chefs hadn’t been awarded an accolade yet for their cuisine. If you are in Portree, Isle of Skye, this is an absolute must for a great evening out with friends and family, with the opportunity to enjoy a decent plate of food.

We stopped in here for some lunch during a visit to Portree. It's a lovely restaurant/bar - we didn't use it as a hotel so no idea what it was like. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Dogs are welcome in the restaurant/bar area.

Our family of 4 adults stayed at The Portree Hotel in 2 rooms for 2 nights. The cozy doubles and the hotel were as described. The made to order breakfasts were perfect! We were not able to eat dinner at the hotel either night as pre-booking is a necessity. Portree is a great location to explore Isle of Skye. All areas of interest are within driving distance.

The customer service from the office staff was wonderful: I kept having to change dates and they were lovely about it. They gave us a terrific recommendation for a day tour. Our rooms were comfortable, good sized and spotlessly clean. Beds were great and so were towels. The best thing is the location - so easy to find, and in the heart of Portree. The restaurant attached was the best in Portree, and they gave priority to hotel guests. Be sure to make reservations! The breakfast had several good choices. The only negative is the lack of an elevator.
