Jianchuan Yundu Shaxi Villa is located in a quiet courtyard in Shaxi Ancient Town, the buildings in the courtyard are precious because of the century-old history, the century-old locust tree in front of the door never speaks, watching the morning glow and sunset, witnessing the changes of more than 300 spring and autumn years in this world. More than 10 years ago, the owner was deeply attracted by this ancient and unique courtyard and decided to use natural techniques to transform this ancient house, so that people can find the most primitive appearance of Shaxi in the ancient alleys, explore the moving past, taste the sweet sweet spring, and feel and experience the ancient culture of Shaxi in the flowers and grasses of Yundu. You can enjoy tea and talk with friends on the natural pond terrace of the courtyard, talk about life, sit on the stargazing platform on the top floor of the courtyard and watch the stars move, meditate on the various aspects of life, and be optimistic about the beauty of the world. Yundu Shaxi Villa, a mysterious and ancient quiet and elegant courtyard, is expected to bring you an unforgettable journey to wash your soul.

"A serene guesthouse recommendation in Shaxi. I blindly picked this guesthouse, having previously stayed in a slightly out-of-the-way place called 'Windy House.' So this time, I was determined to find somewhere close to town for easy access, and I was certainly pleased. The location is its biggest advantage; you can just stroll out the door. There are also many eateries and small shops in the alleys, so you won't get bored. Restaurants and bakeries are all within reach. Ambiance. The elegant and quiet style perfectly matches the owner's temperament. The facilities are complete. My family stayed on the second floor, with two adjacent rooms in a large suite that included an outdoor balcony. If you're relaxing at the guesthouse and the weather is good, having tea and watching the fish on the first floor is quite pleasant. Food. Breakfast preferences are usually confirmed a day in advance. The Chinese option includes rice noodles, steamed buns, and soy milk, while the Western option offers salad, toast, and coffee. I tried both during my two-day stay, and there was nothing to fault; both the portion sizes and ingredient quality met high standards. Before leaving, I complimented the guesthouse's lovely scent, and the owner generously gifted me some special incense sticks. Such small details really touched my heart. Thank you. Objectively speaking, my family and I gave high marks for quality, price, location, and living comfort. I hope to recommend it to friends visiting Shaxi, to bring them a pleasant trip."

"The owner is very kind and speaks good English. She was very helpful in giving advice for where to visit in Shaxi. The location is great, right in the best part of old town. I stayed in the small one bed room. It's perfect for a solo traveler. The bed was comfortable and warm. The toilet/shower is downstairs. Its a little small, but is acceptable. The walls are very thin so if you are there when it's busy (spring festival for me) it can be loud. But if it were a quieter time of year I think it would have been just fine. Overall the value was really good for me and I would highly recommend this inn!"

"Shaxi Jinsheng has a beautiful outdoor courtyard that’s perfect for relaxing and unwinding. The location is one of its biggest strengths. Situated right within the main town area, it’s tucked away near the end of a quiet alley, offering a peaceful stay. Yet, once you step out and turn left, you’re immediately in the heart of Shaxi’s bustling old town. Like a traditional homestay (民宿), the hosts prepare a home-cooked breakfast with a choice of Western or Asian options, accompanied by milk and juice. They also thoughtfully provide large umbrellas for guests on rainy days. The owner was incredibly friendly and hospitable. He even helped us carry our luggage to the larger alleyway where our Didi pickup could access when we were leaving for our next destination, which we greatly appreciated. The property is a little dated, and room cleanliness could be improved, though it was still acceptable and certainly not the worst we’ve encountered during our travels. For a one-night stay, it served its purpose well, especially given the excellent location and charming courtyard."

Shaxi · Jinli’ ,“Jinli” refers to a pond of koi fish within a wooden courtyard of the Bai ethnic group. It’s a tranquil courtyard nestled within the historic streets of an old town. – In Jinli, experience the tranquility that is uniquely associated with the ancient Tea and Horse Road. The morning sunlight mingles with the chirping of birds, and time seems to slow down here.

"I originally booked a standard room, but upon arrival, Ms. Duan upgraded me to a garden-view room, and then had afternoon tea delivered directly to my room. This level of service really made for a great experience. Besides the brand-new towels, the room also provided complimentary disposable bath and face towels (this is the first time I've seen this in my many trips to Yunnan), and Ms. Duan even encouraged me to take them home. Although the guesthouse is a bit further from the bustling center of the ancient town, it's only about a 7-minute walk, and I even inadvertently passed by the spot where the 'Fairy Sister' had her phone knocked over. This guesthouse definitely earns a permanent spot on my Shaxi favorites list."

"The property is located very near to the tourist center and just inside the ancient town. The property owner is very responsive and helpful. When our rides from Dali wrongly dropped us at the north gate, he promptly came over and helped bring our luggage all the way to the south side. He even helped us book a ride to Lijiang. Overall, I'm impressed with the stay and services provided by this Inn."

"Service here was impeccable. Great location, tucked in a little alley off the main street with well, newly renovated rooms. Didn't take photos of the rooms but can honestly say the photos listed online are very accurate and look even better in person! The hostess here was very accommodating and very helpful. Breakfast was amazing, a variety consisting of Yunnan noodles, hot cup of soy/milk, fruit, egg and a bun. Extras given when asked. Had an issue of purchasing coach tickets to Lijiang, the hostess assisted in putting her contact number down so my partner and I could buy tickets. Also gave us souvenirs when checking out. Would definitely stay here again and recommend the place to all."

"The homestay is an antique small courtyard with a sense of atmosphere. The top floor terrace has a wide view, facing the continuous green mountains, overlooking the tile roof of the entire village, and taking pictures is especially good. Afternoon tea was also presented at the check-in, sitting on the terrace and blowing the hair and drinking tea, which was particularly healing slowly. The room is spacious, the decoration is simple and high-end, the bedding is soft and comfortable, and there is a large bathtub. When you are tired, you can take a bath in the room and sweep away your fatigue. The sanitation is in place and all corners are clean. The location is quiet, away from the hustle and bustle, the butler service is intimate, and the demand response is very fast. Friends who want to stay away from the downtown area and relax on a quiet holiday, this is worth staying."

"For this trip to Shaxi, I once again chose 'A Cloud'. The owner, Xiao Wang, heard that we had stayed next to the Vanguard Bookstore the night before, so he arranged for a special tuk-tuk to pick us up. Later, when we wanted to go to Jianchuan, he even helped us book a car, saving us a lot of hassle. He's truly thoughtful and enthusiastic, with excellent service! The guesthouse itself is charming and full of ancient character, and the location is superb. From the corridor outside our room, we could see the old opera stage, and at night, we'd look up to a sky full of stars. This was a return visit, and the room was still cozy and quiet, with all the amenities maintaining high quality, ensuring a great night's sleep. In the morning, a delicious breakfast was ready, and it was just a 3-minute walk to the center of Shaxi, perfect for starting a beautiful day of photography. I'll definitely come back to Shaxi, and I'll still choose 'A Cloud'."

I stayed here for four or five days straight, and it was truly wonderful! The shower had a huge overhead rainfall showerhead with great water pressure, and the room's soundproofing was excellent. Every morning, the landlady would prepare a lovely breakfast. The entire building probably only has six or seven rooms. There were too many people taking photos in the scenic area, so I ended up taking all my pictures downstairs at the guesthouse – they turned out great! The owner can offer pick-up and drop-off to Shaxi Ancient Town (it's very close), or you can use the guesthouse's electric scooter for free. The hotel's location is convenient for getting anywhere, and there's also free parking for cars, which was a lifesaver since we drove all the way from Dali Airport!

I stayed here for three days with my kids during our vacation, and overall it was a great experience. The public areas are absolutely beautiful, showcasing the owner's excellent taste. It's clear they are very meticulous about cleanliness; the entire guesthouse feels impeccably spotless, almost as if it has germophobia. The service was also outstanding. Breakfast every morning was something we really looked forward to. One morning, I drank three cups of coffee, and they kept refilling it for me – they were so kind! And you absolutely *must* try the rice noodles; they're incredibly delicious, much better than anything you'd find outside. The most touching moment was when I did my laundry and went out before hanging it to dry. By the time I returned, it had already been hung up for me. Yes, there's a laundry room where you can wash your clothes yourself, and a lovely small garden balcony for drying, which was very convenient. However, I do need to mention a couple of issues. The bed was quite uncomfortable for me. The mattress quality wasn't great; you could hear the springs creak and compress whenever someone turned over, and the support wasn't very good, making it feel like there weren't enough springs inside. The duvet also seemed to be a cotton quilt rather than a down comforter, so it felt heavier and less airy. On the first night, I couldn't fall asleep until 3 AM because of the uncomfortable bed. But since every other aspect of the guesthouse was so good, I decided to tough it out rather than change accommodations. During showers, the hot and cold water would occasionally fluctuate, but considering it's a guesthouse, this is understandable. So, during my stay, I was constantly torn about whether to recommend it to friends. The public areas and service are impeccable, but the in-room experience could definitely be improved. In terms of convenience, the guesthouse is surrounded by excellent establishments, including a fantastic pizza place and the wonderful Jiama coffee shop right by the river. It's also easy to get a taxi since it's close to the main road. I think the location is unbeatable – truly a quiet oasis in a bustling area. If you're not as particular about your sleep as I am, I would highly recommend it.

This Shaxi hidden gem of a hotel really deserves more than just one night! The facilities are excellent, and the hygiene is top-notch – super clean. The ambiance is incredibly chic and cozy. The service is absolutely fantastic; the staff helped us with all our luggage, which saved us so much effort, especially since the walk from the hotel to the parking lot is quite a distance. This guesthouse has a story to tell. There's a 530-year-old ancient tree right by the entrance, home to a family of squirrels. As soon as I entered the room, I found a pair of chestnut-dyed cloth squirrels placed on the bed. Lying on the third-floor bed, the old tree glowed with life under the setting sun. The indigo-dyed soft couch on the terrace made me fall in love with Yunnan's sunshine, and the abundant flowers and plants everywhere showed the owner's passion for life. The guesthouse manager and the young lady's tea and dishes were unforgettable; that elegant, down-to-earth charm makes me want to return to this place again and again.

First, I chose this hotel because of its natural countryside scenery and the design of traditional Bai ethnic houses. Living in the ancient town is too noisy and overly commercial. This place is close to the ancient town, close to the lives of Bai villagers, and allows me to enjoy the breeze and scenery of the countryside. Second, there's a flat parking lot, which is very suitable for low-lying cars. Also, the owner is very kind and I have access to the kitchen, which is great for those who often eat out and sometimes want to cook. Time is limited this time, so I plan to stay for two weeks if possible.

I'm already home but still thinking about my three days in Shaxi!!! 1. Location + Parking 🅿️: The guesthouse was very easy to find, and since we drove, we wanted a place with parking. There's a small road in front of the guesthouse where you can park, which was very convenient 😊. 2. Ambiance: As soon as we stepped out of the car and entered, we were pleasantly surprised. It's a very comfortable and stylish courtyard. When we didn't go out, sitting in the courtyard and having some tea was incredibly relaxing. I also loved the room's decor – it was clean, hygienic, and had a subtle, pleasant aroma. There were small tables and chairs outside the room where we could relax. 3. Service: The guesthouse owner, the front desk lady, and the auntie were all super nice and enthusiastic. They gave us great tips for exploring the ancient town, and their daily greetings felt like catching up with old friends. (The breakfast was really delicious!) There's also a super cute cat named Huanhuan at the guesthouse!!!! So spiritual!! And very friendly!!! Every time I came back, I'd look for the cat first, haha!!! Overall, it was a very happy and relaxing trip! If I get a chance to visit Shaxi again, I'll definitely stay here again 🥰.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Shaxi Guichen Boutique Homestay, and it easily exceeded expectations in many aspects. First and foremost, the hospitality here truly stands out. The landlady was incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. She went out of her way to introduce nearby attractions and local spots, which made exploring Shaxi much easier and more meaningful. She also helped us arrange an e-bike rental, which turned out to be one of the best ways to get around and discover the surrounding areas. The room itself was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. Cleanliness is clearly a top priority here, with many guests highlighting the same consistently high standards, often comparing it to much higher-end properties . The bed was cozy, and the overall environment made it very easy to relax and unwind after a day out. The homestay has a very charming and quaint atmosphere, especially at night. The courtyard and surroundings give off a peaceful, almost storybook-like vibe that really adds to the overall experience. It’s located just a short distance from Shaxi Ancient Town, making it convenient while still being quiet and away from the crowds. Many reviews also mention the easy access to the old town and nearby attractions, whether by short ride or walk . What I really appreciated is that Shaxi itself has so much to explore beyond just the main old town. From scenic countryside rides to hidden spots and cultural sites, there’s plenty to do if you’re willing to venture out—and this homestay is a great base for it. Overall, this is a beautifully run boutique homestay with exceptional service, great comfort, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shaxi, and I would definitely return again.

It was super convenient to get back to the hotel after exploring the ancient town. The design is really impressive, with a natural wood and Song Dynasty-inspired aesthetic that perfectly matches Shaxi's rustic charm. The courtyard with its flowing water, wooden corridors, and the gentle, Zen-like atmosphere as soon as you open the door is just lovely 🍃. The room was spacious and comfortable, the bedding was so soft, and the bathroom facilities were convenient and clean. After a shower, curling up in bed and watching 'Meet Yourself' just melted away all the day's fatigue. There's 24-hour butler service and afternoon tea upon check-in – sipping tea, listening to the wind, and watching the fish play in the pond amidst the misty atmosphere was truly relaxing 🐟. Waking up early, enjoying breakfast, and then just gazing out the window at the scenery, listening to the wind and rain, is truly living that slow-paced 'wind-filled' life.

I had a fantastic trip there! The place is lovely, built all in wood, with plants and cats all around, and a nice rooftop with a view on the mountains. Everything is clean and it's very silent at night. But the best part came from the guests, I felt like in a family. Unlike my previous hostels in Yunnan, most guests could speak English, which helped feeling closer. A lot of people are staying there for weeks because of the great atmosphere. I stayed only two nights but felt sad to leave everyone.
