Overall, my stay was incredibly comfortable and met the high service standards I've come to expect from InterContinental.
The room was quite spacious, featuring a separate walk-in closet. The bathroom had a mirror TV, a feature I'd seen before at the W Hotel in Guangzhou and The Niccolo in Changsha. However, the mirror TV in my room had a picture but no sound, suggesting it was broken and hadn't been repaired. The mini-bar was equipped with a capsule coffee machine and a refrigerator. There were only two large coffee mugs, but no smaller cups more suitable for the portion sizes from the capsule coffee machine. The TV in the room was a Sony, of a fairly average size, but the clarity was good. It also came with a BOSE sound system and a power management system, allowing for music playback even when not watching TV. The glass desk had a leather mat, which was a very thoughtful touch. In some hotels with glass-top desks, the mouse doesn't work well, and I've had to borrow a mousepad from the front desk.
However, there were a few inconveniences regarding the room's setup. Firstly, the desk was too far from the TV, and there was no HDMI port, making it difficult to cast from my own laptop. Secondly, the automatic curtain switch was located by the window instead of by the bedside, which was inconvenient to use.
The service was excellent. From the moment I arrived, staff helped with luggage. The check-in process at the front desk was very smooth, and they patiently answered my questions. Housekeeping was very prompt. They also provided complimentary soft drinks, fruit, and tickets to a performance. The performance itself was a bit far from the hotel, and while the content was average, it wasn't boring. If your schedule isn't too packed, it might be worth checking out.
Cleanliness was generally good, though I did find some invisible-to-the-eye but touchable stains in the bathtub when I gave it a quick clean myself upon arrival. Otherwise, no issues.
The hotel's location is excellent, very close to the Exhibition Center, a ten-minute taxi ride away. Public transport is also very convenient; the subway entrance is right outside the main gate, with access to lines 7 and 4. MixC Mall is just one stop away. As you'll realize when you see the red traffic jams on the map, sometimes taking the Hangzhou subway is more convenient than driving. From the second floor of the hotel, you can walk out a back door directly to the Outlet Mall and City Terrace, avoiding external roads with traffic lights, which is great for shopping or taking a stroll.
The gym and pool on the hotel's top floor are open 24 hours. Neither the pool nor the gym is very large, but there's a good selection of exercise equipment.
The hotel lobby was quite grand. The service was excellent and very responsive to requests; for instance, when I asked housekeeping for an extra bed around 10 PM (free for children under 12), I received a very quick response.
However, the room's soundproofing was quite poor. The plumbing noise from the next room, whether it was the toilet flushing or a faucet running, was surprisingly loud and jarring, especially during quiet nights.
The restaurant, unfortunately, was a letdown. The dinner buffet was not worth the price, and both dinner and breakfast buffets had very limited selections. Minor details like missing condiments (e.g., soy sauce, cilantro) were not quickly replenished. Also, some items meant to be hot, like the dòuhuā (tofu pudding), were served cold.
My positive feedback is solely for the excellent service.

SSmall WandererA 5* hotel for Chinese customers, not international guests.
The hotel facilities are really nice with nice bedrooms and the park around the hotel is a real plus. They also propose a lot of activities. On that side, this is up to intercontinental standards or even above.
However, there were 3 points that were disappointing and for us are not up to standards for a 5 stars hotel:
- no English-speaking staff is not acceptable for an international brand. We could not communicate at the reception or restaurant.
- it is mentioned 4 restaurants are open on the website and in the public area (1 Japanese, 1 Chinese, 1 buffet and 1 international) while actually only 2 were opened : the Chinese and international one. The latter is not up to international standard: no dessert menu, drinks menu only available in Chinese and the quality was average at best.
- Service for food and drinks is generally speaking very slow (1h to get hamburger while being the only customer/ +30mn to get drinks at the bar) even though the staff is nice.
