STARWAY Hotels in Guilin

Location wise, this hotel is great for touring the Two Lakes Four Rivers area which encompasses the majority of attractions in Guilin. It is located in an old, but well kept neighbourhood/commercial street with pretty interesting architecture that seems to resemble a traditional style present in many of the older buildings in Guilin. The room we were given had an unfortunate smoky scent which made my nose stuffy, even after we ventilated the room by leaving the air-conditioner running right after we entered the room for the first time. This is a pretty major drawback for us. Furthermore, we had issues with the shower controls which by a faulty design (in my opinion), only allows increasing the temperature of the water by increasing the water pressure/strength, and vice versa. This forced us to bath with a very high (skin blasting would be a more intuitive description) water pressure. Nevertheless, we secured the room at a good price compared to the surrounding hotels while having comparable qualities to these costlier hotels in terms of cleanliness and the condition of the facilities/amenities. Being newly opened certainly helped in this aspect. For my final comment, I like to commend 小郑和小程 for their good service as they attended to all our needs with a very pleasant attitude. We are also extremely pleased with their Cantonese speaking ability which impressed us most out of all our interactions with the locals in Guilin.
