Shimanami Kaido on Hakata island. Enjoy delicious, reasonably priced seafood.
"The building is old, but the accommodation was lovely and well-maintained.
The view from the room was also great.
Above all, the food was excellent.
For dinner we had fish sashimi, simmered fish, tempura, and vinegared dishes.
The simmered fish was delicious. It was called ”ako,” and apparently it's a luxury fish at the market.
It was fresh, with really firm flesh, and was great.
The facilities are old, and since it's basically a guesthouse, there are shared baths, toilets, and sinks.
If you can accept that, it's a great place to stay.
The landlady (?) was also friendly and nice.
I used it on a bicycle trip, and I think I'd go again.
I'll upload a picture of the view from my room."
Established during the Meiji era. The best long-established cuisine inn in Omi Island. Located along the approach to Oyamazumi Shrine. Enjoy the slow passing of time.
"My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Ryokan Chaume. This family run Ryokan made us feel at home. The manager drove us to and from a terrific onsen nearby and afterwards we were served a delicious multi-course dinner. The drink list was excellent too. After a tasty Japanese style breakfast we needed help making an onward reservation, so the manager made several calls on our behalf and found us a place that had a last minute cancellation. I would recommend the Ryokan Chaume to anyone looking for a high quality inn."
