Hotels in Dongxin Square, Datong

This time I brought my parents to Datong for a trip. We had a lot of fun, and most of it was given by Jianguo Puyin (Yongtai Branch)! I chose this hotel based on the good reviews on Ctrip before coming here (Ctrip's rating is the first). It really exceeded my expectations. It was great~ We booked a triple room, which was super large and had new facilities~ The main thing was that the service was amazing~ 1. The hotel provides free high-speed rail pick-up service. We were lucky to be picked up by a large Mercedes-Benz business car. Later we learned that this car was the chairman's own car, and it was used to pick up guests. This is too high-end~ The driver at the pick-up station was also very good, helping us with luggage and wheelchairs, which was very heartwarming~ (I contacted the hotel one day in advance to book the pick-up station, added the housekeeper on WeChat, and filled in the time and specific number of people at the pick-up station) 2. The hotel also provides a free shuttle bus to the ancient city, which is also beyond An expected service (reservation is required one hour in advance) 3. The girl at the front desk is also very friendly and will answer any questions~ 4. There are free Pu tea 🍵 and chrysanthemum, wolfberry, tangerine peel, and rose for guests to drink at the front desk. It is easy to get angry when traveling, and the hotel is so thoughtful~ 5. The hotel provides free mineral water (free drinking), which is really generous~ 6. Beautiful new hotel. Very friendly staff who offered two gifts to every room during the national holiday. Room felt spacious and luxurious and was sunny and mostly quiet during a very busy holiday period. Hotel restaurant was also delicious with good service. We ate there twice. We also had breakfast everyday of our stay. Very nice quality including lots of local ingredients and choices was fantastic! The hotel is so conveniently located in the ancient city. Walking distance to a really nice cafe with great coffee, lots of restaurants and all the main attractions including pop up laneway markets selling ancient treasures. Honestly, it’s a fantastic hotel and felt worth the price. Non-smoking room was created on the fly for us. Consequently the smell of smoke lingered on in the room. Service was extremely prompt. The person taking care of our laubdry ran up the stairs faster than me. Comfortable beds. Excellent breakfast. Limited English language capabilities.

I took my kids on a summer trip. Our first stop was Zhangjiajie and Chongli. After two days, we moved on to Datong. There were so many hotels, and I'm not one for making travel plans. After searching everywhere, I found the Yuecheng Hotel, newly renovated in 2025, with two 1.5-meter beds—perfect for our family of four! First, I wanted a clean hotel, and second, the beds were large, otherwise the two kids wouldn't fit. Sharing a room would make it easier to care for them. Both of these factors met my expectations, so I decided on this hotel! Upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised! Transportation, restaurants, supermarkets, and pharmacies were all nearby! There was no need to search for a restaurant; there were so many nearby, all of them delicious! That evening, we took a taxi for a night tour of the ancient city for only 10 yuan. It was incredibly convenient! Most importantly, the room was affordable. In Chongli, a room with a building over 800 years old cost over 400 yuan a night, and it was in a remote area, making it impossible to get around without a car. This room is only over 300 per night, so I decided to stay for three nights!

A very cost-effective hotel! Although the hotel is far from the ancient city, it is very close to museums and art galleries. Wanda Plaza is across the road, where there are two famous old restaurants in Datong, which are very convenient for eating, drinking and having fun. It is suitable for self-driving travel, and the underground parking lot is large. The hotel's buffet is great, especially the knife-cut noodles, mutton offal noodles and mutton dumplings, which are very authentic. The hotel room is well soundproofed and the whole hotel is very quiet. Of course, there are some shortcomings. For example, in the early April weather, the hotel room was extremely hot and dry, and the air conditioner did not provide cold air. It could only open the window 24 hours a day to dissipate heat, and the temperature control was not in place. The curtains in the room are behind a whole row of sofas. There are no smart facilities. You can only climb up the sofa to open and close the curtains, which is very inconvenient. The hotel twin room only has a single bed of 1.2 meters, and the double room is only 1.8 meters, which is not friendly to families with children. I hope to add a parent-child room with two beds, one large and one small.

The hygiene is really not good. I stayed with two children. I arrived at the hotel at 3 am. I didn't want to bother the children. If I arrived earlier, I would have checked out and changed to another one. I booked two rooms, one for the elderly. There was a smell of smoke when I opened the door. The elderly didn't want to bother so they opened the window for ventilation and slept. As for the parent-child room, I didn't find any obvious discomfort when I opened the door. The children liked the bed, but the bathroom was not good. The basin of the washbasin was very shallow and the water was rushing. When the child put the water on, it splashed all over his body and the surrounding table. When I went to the shower area, I could see other people's hair on the wall, and there was also a pair of women's underwear. It seriously affected my mood. Did you really clean it? Or did you only make the bed? There are still many details that were not done. I don't want to complain, I'm too tired. I wrote it to say that the hair was still there when we left. I don't know if it will stay until the Chinese New Year. I will not book Yunduo Hotel again in the future.

The third time I came to Taiyuan for a business trip, I was the manufacturer business manager of the same coal group business. I stayed in several hotels, including 5 stars. Finally, I chose ”Cat's Faraway” to live. It was superb. It was on the 13th floor of Yongtai Apartment. It was sunny, good sight, strong privacy, and large rooms. Especially the bedding on the bed is soft. After going downstairs, there is a porridge shop behind the shop in Block A. The porridge is not only delicious, affordable, and the boss is good. The surrounding area is a business district and there are food. It is also convenient to go to Datong South Station, and it takes 15 minutes to take a taxi. In the future, Datong will be on a business trip, and the ”cat's far away” will be fixed.

I recently stayed at the Xiyun Hotel Datong on a business trip. The overall experience far exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it. The hotel's location is exceptionally advantageous, nestled in the Dongxin Plaza area. Surrounded by well-developed commercial facilities and convenient transportation, it's incredibly convenient for both commuting and shopping, saving me significant time and energy on my business trips. The front desk staff were highly professional, and the reception process was efficient and smooth. During check-in, they were enthusiastic and proactive, not only completing the formalities quickly but also patiently answering my questions about the hotel's facilities and surroundings. This attentive service made me feel cared for and respected even in a foreign city. The guest rooms were comfortable and pleasant, with a well-planned layout and elegant, simple decor. The bed had the perfect firmness and the high-quality linens provided a good night's sleep, ensuring a restful night's sleep after a busy day. The in-room amenities were well-equipped and functioned well, meeting all my business needs. The hotel's dining service was also commendable, with a rich and nutritious breakfast menu featuring both local specialties and more traditional Western dishes, catering to every palate. Furthermore, the hotel's strict security measures and excellent hygiene in both public areas and guest rooms create a safe and clean experience. The Xiyun Hotel Datong, with its prime location, excellent service, comfortable environment, and comprehensive facilities, provided me with a perfect stay. I believe that whether traveling for business or pleasure, choosing the Xiyun Hotel will not disappoint. I highly recommend it to everyone!

This stay was a wonderful surprise! From the moment I stepped out of the car, the bellhop proactively helped with my luggage, and check-in at the front desk was swift and friendly. The room was more spacious and brighter than I expected, and the cleanliness was impeccable, especially the mattress and pillows, which offered excellent support and completely cured my 'home-bed-only' sleeping habit. I must especially commend the hotel's breakfast; the variety was extensive, and the local specialty snacks were particularly authentic. They even offered a late-night snack service, and a thoughtful small gift was given upon check-out. The attention to detail really shines through—this is a hotel that truly puts heart into its service, absolutely excellent value for money!

The service is very good. I will definitely choose this hotel next time I come to Datong. They are all young people who provide very meticulous service. The overall experience is very good. I was also introduced to this hotel by a friend and it was a great experience! The facilities are very smart!
