DDANThe room is large, clean, the bed is soft, the condition is OK, the breakfast is quite comfortable, it is a hotel relatively close to the University of Notre Dame nearby, and it takes less than 20 minutes to walk through the grove to the school.
GGuest UserVery friendly and helpful staff. They gave us complimentary toothpaste, toothbrushes and even mouthwash. Refrigerator in room. Fantastic breakfast with eggs, sausage, potatoes, French toast, waffles, yogurt, fruit, cereals, juices, coffee, teas. Very clean facilities and nice quiet room for good nights’ sleep.
GGuest UserI stay primarily at Marriott for business because I can depend on the cleanliness standards, professionalism, and policies always falling with in a range of acceptability. Not always great, but sometimes, and never terrible to the point of unacceptable. During my recent stay I had to travel to the South Bend area for a week and then to the Indianapolis area for a week. Residence Inn was changing over to a new billing system during my stay and advised there would be additional minor funds held against my credit card during the change over, even though I paid ahead of time. Not a problem, have a decent limit and it would be refunded. Then my credit card started getting declined. Well apparently the new system had glitch and my credit card had 12 or more charge holds amounting to $12000. I talked to the clerk that evening and the he said the manager would call me back. I never received a call. Upon check out the Operations Manager was there and promised an executive level call back in response to this. It may happen, we’ll see. Luckily I have other credit cards to rely on during my travel, but what if I didn’t! Next issue is I checked out on Saturday at 9:00AM after checking in electronically to Townplace Suites in Indianapolis. I used a 12:30PM check in time and the system accepted it. My assumption is I’m good to leave get into my room in Indy. So, I leave South Bend headed to Indy to get my room and key, set up and get some work done. I get there and am advised by the clerk, who was very nice and polite, that she is sorry the app does that but no rooms are available until after 3:00PM. I would have stayed in South Bend and worked if the app had advised me that I could not check in at 12:30PM, but it accepted that input. Now I’m stuck driving around Indy with $12G racked up on my credit card until 2:00PM. 2:00PM by the way only because the clerk convinced the cleaning crew to have something ready earlier than 3. If she hadn’t at least tried I would have given 1 star. Oh and the washer dryer at the hotel is broken so I guess I’ll spend my time at a local laundry mat. I hate doing this and writing a bad review because I feel like all folks do today is complain, but I’m frustrated with the Marriott experience this time and have to vent.
SsarahcD3346BVWhile the lobby was beautiful, and the aesthetics are nice- the bed was super uncomfortable. Parking was across the street, and absolutely ridiculous price for the small town of SB. $22 a night? Give me a break South Bend. Noise from the street was constant, and very loud. We were awake most of the night. My favorite moment that let me know we would not return was when a food delivery driver drove down the sidewalk, necessitating people trying to use the sidewalk for walking to have to get out of the way. Pass on South Bend downtown.
GGuest UserOverall, the lobby and general bedroom were clean and nice. The workout room was first class. The problem was the bathroom in our room was unclean. The floor had several hairs, tissue in the corner, and the shampoo dispenser pump was broken. Also, our door deadbolt did not work. I did not discover this until late that night. I informed the front desk the next morning. Instead of waiting until we checked out, the repairman came and repaired the lock while leaving our door wide open and tools in our bedroom..........kinda strange in my book.
LLINGThe booked room type was said to be gone. I changed a twin room, the coffee machine was still bad, and I changed my coffee machine. The facilities are old and can only barely stay for one night.
GGuest UserTHE SERVICE IS EXCELLENT, THE FACILITY IS AWESOME SAUCE BECAUSE IT HAS A FULL FRIDGE AND TWO WORKING BURNERS, AND THE COFFEE AND MUFFINS ARE GREAT. OVERALL I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND MY FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND BOYFRIEND TO STAY AT EXTENDED AMERICA
This is a decent budget motel. It's not in an especially appealing area, but our room was clean, quiet, and well-maintained. The one gripe we had was that they'd closed the breakfast room and weren't offering the advertised complementary breakfast. Only coffee. They said it was because of COVID safety concerns. I appreciate the concern, but every other motel we stayed at on this trip at least managed to put out some fruit and granola bars out by the front desk. They should have set something like that up here. It felt like they were just using COVID as an excuse to save money on the breakfasts.
