It is a little difficult to find the way to the hotel, so navigation is essential. If you get off the main road, it's pretty troublesome if an oncoming car comes on a straight road. When you arrive, park your car and check into the lobby alone. The elderly front desk staff responded and carefully explained how to use the facilities. Return to the car and move to the log house where you will stay. The road is wide enough for one car to pass. The log house is two stories and has 5 beds. There is a toilet with a washlet, a separate bath, a mini kitchen with an electromagnetic range, a microwave oven, and a small refrigerator. There is a table for four and a terrace. There was one double outlet in each room. There is a TV and free Wi-Fi. Although it was in the mountains, there were no insects inside the log house, it was clean, and there were pet supplies (dog toilet, rice and water bowl, deodorant spray, roller, plastic bag). It was a comfortable stay. There is no roof in the passage between the parking lot and the log house, so when it rains, there is an umbrella at the entrance of the log house, so you can use it to carry your luggage. You can walk to the main building or drive to the public bath and dining room. A car is good on rainy days. When you leave your pet in the log house and go out to eat, bring a cage and put it in and go out, or leave it in the car. The large public bath is a hot spring with an open-air bath and an indoor bath, so it was spacious and relaxing. Sauna is closed due to Corona. It was a meal plan, but when I was checking in at 5:30 pm and carrying my luggage, it was time to eat. I couldn't do it slowly and I was busy. I wish it was a little more flexible. As for the meal, the roast beef is prepared in advance and the meat is dry and disappointing. The beech meat and vegetable stir-fried on the copper plate was warmed with solid fuel, so it was delicious. Appetizers, sashimi, and boiled dishes were delicious. The ingredients of the soup are dry ingredients and the soup stock is not absorbed, and the taste of the soup stock is not delicious. The contents are good for the price, but I would like the quality of the food to be a little better. Breakfast was a buffet, which was satisfying. There is a coffee machine in the lobby, and all-you-can-drink coffee in the lobby. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Check out took a while.
Sawatari Onsen has been rooted in this area for a long time as the hot spring of Kusatsu Onsen. Looking at the map, it's about halfway between Kusatsu and Shima. Compared to places like Kusatsu, the hot spring town has no foot traffic and almost no shops. Silence. . . correction. I think people who like remote hot spring towns will love this kind of atmosphere. Miyataya is located at the top of the hill in the hot spring town. When you look at the inn from the outside, you might think it's small, but it's built like a typical Kyoto townhouse, with the inn going deeper and deeper into the back. The three-story building has an indoor bath, a private open-air bath, and a family bath. It's nice to know that you can take a bath 24 hours a day, except for the private open-air bath. It's not as acidic as Kusatsu, nor is it cloudy, nor does it have a strong sulfur smell. I wonder if the temperature of the water will be a little lukewarm. . . It may not be enough for hot springs for hot guys who only like hot springs, but since I'm not too assertive, it was gentle on my skin and didn't irritate my skin, making it easy to take a long bath. Both meals were served in a private room. I highly recommend the famous cream-grilled apple that I had for dinner. At first glance, you might think it's a dessert, but since it's topped with scallops, it could almost be treated as a main dish. It's also hearty because it uses a whole apple. The wait staff was a foreigner who was learning Japanese, so I had the rare experience of writing drink orders on a piece of paper and handing them to them. I thought it was a shame that the open-air bath was a completely closed space with no view. But overall, I think it's a good inn. I would like to visit again as a refreshing bath after a day trip bath in Kusatsu.
The owner used to live in US and is able to explain the interesting customs of Japanese inn culture. Here, you can get back to basics; rest, hike the surrounding hills.

Sawatari Onsen is known as Kusatsu no Naoshiyu. After enjoying a day trip bath at Kusatsu Onsen, I was taken care of by Mr. Ryumeikan. The exterior is full of the feeling that you have returned to the countryside. The landlady was friendly and the staff were cheerful at the homely and cozy inn. Among them, the volume of dinner was not half-finished. It is certain that the stomach will die of anger when licking. It seems that my stomach was happy to eat a lot of delicious food. The most troublesome thing was the bath. The temperature was hot and hot, so I had a lot of trouble getting in. Is it the point of strategy to increase the amount of hot water? Sawatari Onsen, which is said to be a famous hot spring. There was hot water and the skin felt smooth after that. Since the hot water temperature is high, it may be more pleasant to use it in cold seasons.
It was a great experience. Although the rented car was out of order when I came, it was completely healed as soon as I arrived. It’s easy to get to the hotel as long as you open the google navigation, but the road conditions are sometimes narrow (where I have the situation). Please note that the parking lot is next to the hotel reception. The room is tatami mats, because the quilt is spread out on the floor, it is very suitable for bringing children to play together. Dinner can be said to be a big surprise. I never thought I could get such a sumptuous dinner in a hotel at such a price. It's a pity that because the rented car had an accident, I left the hotel early and drove back to the rental car spot without trying breakfast. The hot springs are also very good, there are indoor and outdoor hot springs. When the day is still bright, soak into the outdoor hot spring under the cold temperature of minus 4-5°C, and watch the beautiful scenery of Lake Harina and Mount Harina. What could be more enjoyable than this?
Oedo Onsen Monogatari Ikaho is a hotel located in Ikaho, Ikaho Town, Shibukawa City, Gunma Prefecture. Ikaho Onsen is a hot spring located in Ikaho Town, Shibukawa City, Gunma Prefecture. It is a historical hot spring resort that appears in Manyoshu, and is said to have been maintained by Masayuki Sanada. Ikaho Onsen is said to be the birthplace of hot spring manju. On October 5, 2021, I climbed Mt. Akagi on this day. From there, we drove to Oedo Onsen Monogatari Ikaho. The parking lot is very large. Go straight through the door. It seems that they also take a day trip bath. store. There was a table tennis table. I will be staying in room 306 on the 3rd floor. I can't open the lock all the time. The refrigerator at the entrance is large. Wash basin. I'm going to the public bath, so I probably won't use it, but there's also a bathtub. The toilet has a warm water seat. The 10-tatami Japanese-style room is already covered with futons, which is unique to Oedo Onsen Monogatari. The view from the window is like this (bitter smile) TV and safe. I went to the hot springs right away. There were two types of hot springs: iron springs and colorless and transparent hot springs. Kogane no Yu is a sulfate spring. Shirogane no Yu is a simple hot spring containing a large amount of metasilicic acid. There was also a bedrock bath, so I slowly entered for about 30 minutes. This day is an all-you-can-drink plan, so refrain from beer time in the room (laughs). It's 5:30, so I'm moving to the dinner hall. I thought I was the first one, but I was waiting for my turn (sweat;) Buffet style. (laughs) After the beer, I ordered a sake called Seitoku. The next morning, at 7:15, I headed to the breakfast venue. Breakfast is also a buffet. I checked out in the morning (laughs) and moved on.

At Ikaho no Sora, enjoy a satisfying meal at the restaurant. A complimentary buffet breakfast is served daily from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM.
The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
Make yourself at home in one of the 30 guestrooms. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected. Private bathrooms with separate bathtubs and showers feature jetted bathtubs and complimentary toiletries. Conveniences include complimentary bottled water, and housekeeping is provided daily.
Location is just next to Shidan Street, convenience store is in front, very good.
The room was smaller than I thought, but the window was large and the view was good.
It did not seem that the cleaning was well done by the dust accumulated in the teapot, and the mold grew in the shower curtain.
I was surprised that the futon had mold.
The slippers were also used, and the back was dirty.
The chairs were rugged and dirty.
There was a little water in the electric pot.
I think it's like this when I think about the price.
The staff was polite and there was no bad impression.
Amenities are only minimal images.
Next time, I'm going to give a little more money and want to stay in a good place.
I had planned on visiting different places in Ikaho Onsen, but ended up venturing not far from Chigira Jinsentei Ryokan because I kept wanting to head back. The convenient location of the hotel and the views from all angles were incredible. It is literally right in the middle of the stone stairs. All the shops are around you, and you can see snow covered mountains far away. The hot spring is probably the best in all of Ikaho comparing volume of free flowing hot spring to the number of guest rooms. There is one indoor bath (alternate between male/female everyday), one outdoor bath, and 4 free private baths all equipped with sink/AC/Heating units, hair dryer and two little seating areas. The quality of baths alone made me want to return over and over. A lot of thoughts were put into the food and the presentation was wonderful. But we felt the speed of serving was quite slow. Maybe we were just very hungry lol. The room itself was like a movie set. We felt like we traveled back in time (in every sense of the word : only one free electrical plug). It was so beautiful we spent the first 20 min taking pictures. In all, I wouldn't chose another place to stay if I ever visit Ikaho Onsen again.
A long-established hot spring inn near the stone steps of Ikaho Onsen. It has a reputation for warm hospitality. The characteristic is that there are two entrances, and you can enter from the stone steps side as well as the usual entrance. In many inns, there are many movements in the building with slippers, but since the whole building is tatami mats, you can walk barefoot in the building. The food was delicious and the amount was appropriate. The bathhouse was also large enough to relax. On the other hand, although it is a family saying because it is a good inn, there were some staff who were still developing in their behavior. I would like to expect that I will grow up as a good staff with good teaching from my predecessors. There was also a machine in the room for massage of my feet. I think the massage machine after the bath is cleaned frequently, but I was a little worried about the sanitary condition of the machine in the room. Because it is a thankful consideration, I think that it was able to use it more comfortably if there was a display such as ”cleaned”.
