It was a horrible experience from start to finish. First of all, there is no receptionist at the hotel at 5 pm on a weekday and no where to park your car. The front door is locked. You have to go across the tram road to get a key and check in from the hotel opposite of the road thru a garden with stairs while carrying your luggage. Absolutely no instructions on where to briefly park the car when I unload the luggage. You have to then park in a public parking up the hills. So it is totally misleading when it says on their amenities that provide parking and charging for electric vehicles. The worst is yet to come. The room I had for the night, had this on going buzzing noisy periodically from the vent of the air conditioning and you are right next to the tram line so it’s really loud noise when the tram go by both ways. This is not a four star hotel by any means. I did not have any sleep for the night and will never return to this hotel again or any of their chain hotels of the group.
A luxurious hotel with high standard! Like all other hotels in Basel, this hotel has a high price. I got a luxurious suite and it was really amazing. The apartment was two bathrooms, one living room combined with kitchen and one bedroom. It was perfectly cleaned every day. The breakfast was actually one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had! Even though it wasn’t the biggest, the food was really tasty and you could taste the personality and love they’ve put into it. The egg dishes and bacon were ordered so you get freshly cooked. The location was good, with food street just 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel. The only thing I can complain about was the insight from other adjacent houses, so be ready to close your curtains.

Response from Property: Dear Guest, Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay in your apartment room. It is especially gratifying to know that you were pleased with the cleanliness and spaciousness of the room. We greatly appreciate your kind words about our breakfast buffet, and we are delighted that you found it both tasty and fresh. Our location is indeed charming, and we are glad you enjoyed the surroundings, despite the nearby buildings. We would be delighted to welcome you back in the future. Wishing you all the best. Warm regards, Sonja Jenzer & The Teufelhof Team

Three day stay prior to a river cruise. Lovely studio room with air con and washing machine. With the windows open the muted sounds of classical music from the nearby musical conservatory provided a relaxed background soundtrack. We had drinks and food accros the road at Der Teufelhof the parent hotel. Tram outside the door, very convenient. The old town a short walk away.

The location is great, close to the Old Town and only minutes on foot from Barfuesserplatz. Parking at Steinen is also within relatively reasonable distance. The service was great and the staff very friendly. The rooms are modern, and what we especially appreciated were the separated shower and toilet, although we did miss additional opportunities to hang bath towels. Our room was to the front of the building and therefore somewhat noisy due to the proximity of the tram line, but I guess that's the caveat of such a central location. For breakfast there are two options: The full buffet breakfast at the Teufelhof across the street, or the coffee shop on the ground floor of the SET Hotel itself. We opted for the latter and loved their croissants. The corridors felt a bit bland, dark and "hospital-like", as my wife put it. A bit of colour would give it a somewhat friendlier touch. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and think it's an ideal place to stay for exploring the city.

Nice hotel, large modern rooms, very clean. Coffee shop downstairs and sitting area. Staff are so welcoming and will go out of their way to help. Only thing that was a little bit of a let down was the breakfast, limited choice. Otherwise a great stay.

The Hotel is very nice and modern but it’s somehow a branch of the older hotel in front. If you arrive after 4PM the door is closed and you have to checkin in the hotel in front. Bit hard to find the right place at first as there were no signs or at least not visible at night. The hotel otherwise has absolutely no staff. Breakfast is the older hotel too. The room itself is modern and fully equipped with kitchen and washer drier and dishwasher. Upper cabinets were full depth and a bit odd as they stocked out too much and into the path for the bathrooms. Wi-Fi was a bit anemic. Hard to find a good place to charge your devices. Some things in the fridge were free but not entirely clear which and the ones you paid were 5 star hotel prices. The bedroom had a huge bulkhead that made it very uncomfortable for someone sleeping on that side of the bed to get up in the middle of the night. No places to put your suitcase either and the only wardrobe was very far from the bedroom. Really confusing switches all over the place. Breakfast was nice but very slow. You have to order your coffee and eggs to be done. There was virtually no pastries.

Just returned from an enjoyable three night stay at the Set Residence Hotel and was extremely pleased with the room and more notably the helpful and courteous front desk staff. They made numerous phone calls for us arranging everything from dining reservations and transportation to COVID testing for our return trip to the States. Enjoyed a morning cappuccino and croissant in the dining area and their sister hotel across the street has a great restaurant and brewery, producing the best beer (dark) that I had during our European vacation. The hotel is centrally located and Basel offers vacationers staying in area hotels free public transportation, providing easy access to museums, shopping and the wonderful city zoo. Wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

The SET hotel residence is a case study in good design, and good service. The room was clearly designed by people who understand a guest's needs, and have poured their passion and experience into a simple, but super hotel. Wooden floors, easy to clean. The management of all the big chains should visit, and understand that a mid range hotel can be perfect. It puts most Hiltons and Sheratons to shame. What do I mean? Sockets! Lots of them, (I would guess there were 12 to 16 sockets in total) in all the right places. Sinks, three of them, at the right height, with storage space around for a washbag and toiletries. Blinds and a sun shade. A big desk, and a bench above the fridge. Subtle lighting which works. Quality shower gel in an eco-friendly dispenser. A Nespresso coffee-maker with capsules and milk. A big fridge, not a tiny bar fridge. Very quiet. Water in glass bottles in the fridge, not plastic ones. A good size gym. The staff were also great - very friendly, helpful, excellent English. The location is also superb - 20 minutes walk from the Kinderspital, a few minutes from the old city, a tram stop close by. University music facilities nearby, so when you walk down the street you can often hear beautiful piano music or a harpist playing. There's secure, reserved parking five minutes walk away for CHF 25 a night. There are hire bikes and rental scooters nearby, a bakery and a range of good restaurants. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Basel.

The hotel is very conveniently located near the Spalenberg district with its numerous boutiques and less than 10 minutes' walk from the market square. The Sethotel Residence is opposite the main square and is modernly equipped with young, friendly and helpful staff. The attic room seems small, but offers enough space and freedom of movement and is optimally laid out, with a flat-screen TV and coffee machine. Water, coffee and tea are free. We had breakfast outside, however. The room was very clean when we arrived and the bed was very comfortable. We had a pleasant stay.
