CCroatonWe stayed at the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel for four nights in mid-June. We chose a 2 Double Beds Grand Executive Guest Room (57 m²) with Executive Lounge access. The room was very spacious, with plenty of unused space. It featured both a bathtub and a separate shower. All necessary amenities were provided: an ironing board with an iron, a Nespresso coffee machine with capsules and Ronnefeldt tea, a safe with an internal power outlet and scales, bathrobes and slippers, and Aromatherapy Associates London toiletries. Executive Lounge: They served excellent breakfasts with a good selection of dishes. The evening Hors D’oeuvrés were also magnificent! They consisted of two hot dishes, different each evening, along with various salads, appetizers, cold cuts, cheese platters, and desserts. Alcoholic beverages included three types of beer, two types of sparkling wine, and five different types of wine. The lounge is open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, offering various coffee drinks, a wide selection of teas, three types of juice, soft drinks, and mineral water. The hotel itself is located near the Palace of the Parliament and the National Salvation Cathedral, but it's far from the Old Town and the nearest metro station. It's a large hotel (402 rooms) with a beautiful grand lobby featuring marble floors, columns, and elegant staircases. The hallways are clean, but not all floors have air fresheners. YouTube on the TV had poor reception and would constantly freeze. Parking is quite expensive and it's an open-air lot, not underground, for both hotel guests and external visitors – 150 RON per day. For reference: the large multi-level underground InterParking in the center of the Old Town costs 60 RON per day. Attention!! Be very vigilant when checking out of the hotel! Our check-in experience was simply excellent; we were given a great room, and they seemed pleased that we had chosen this hotel again for our visit to Bucharest. However, we were in for an unpleasant surprise at checkout! The reception asked us to pay an additional Travel Tax of 40 RON, which doesn't exist in principle! All necessary taxes (VAT & City Tax) had already been paid during reservation. In the end, we paid it but asked for an invoice with this tax. The constantly smiling receptionist printed it, but it didn't show any Travel Tax, only City Tax and the room rate! After we expressed our outrage, stating that they had made it up and were trying to cheat us, the receptionist made a call and then returned the 40 RON to us. However, she promised that the hotel would still charge this amount to the credit card we provided during booking and used as a deposit during check-in. The maximum cash deposit at this hotel is 800 RON. Of course, it wasn't the amount itself that upset us, but its illegitimacy and groundlessness! This is pure customer deception! All of this took us about 15-20 minutes and, naturally, slightly spoiled our overall impression of the hotel. Overall, the hotel itself is very good and quiet, apart from this unpleasant incident.

JJetsetgemLocation of this hotel in the old town is the perfect base for exploring central Bucharest. Couple of mins walk to tram stops. 5 mins walk to the Central Park. Hotel is lovely, modern feel and trendy slogans and decor. Staff were amazing here, we felt very welcome. They were very helpful on check in and check out. Breakfast was really nice lots of healthy options but also some nice treats too. Hot breakfast items were limited to scrambled egg, hard boiled egg, toast, smoked bacon and sausage but was adequate to fill up before a day exploring. The room was spacious and with modern decor and fixtures. Would def stay there again.

GGuest UserWe had a lovely stay overall. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the room was a good size — very pleasant and well kept. We were quite happy with the overall experience. Breakfast could be improved, as there weren’t many healthy options available. Most of the choices were heavier, American-style dishes, so a bit more variety would make a nice difference. It would also be great if the room cleaning were a bit more thorough each day, rather than just making the bed and changing towels. When guests pay for a hotel stay, consistent quality and attention to detail are always appreciated.

MMCUZZAOur stay at the Mercure Bucharest was truly memorable, thanks to the exceptional service and warm hospitality. The rooms were spacious, modern, and spotlessly clean, providing a comfortable retreat after a day of exploring the city. The attention to detail in the room's amenities made our stay even more enjoyable. A special mention goes to the receptionist, who was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. She provided us with amazing suggestions for places to visit in Romania, turning our holiday into an incredible experience. Her local knowledge and enthusiasm made all the difference, guiding us to hidden gems we might have otherwise missed. The breakfast at the hotel was fantastic, offering a wide variety of fresh and delicious options that catered to all tastes. It was the perfect way to start our days of sightseeing. The hotel's location is very convenient, with easy access to Bucharest's main attractions and public transport. Whether you're in town for business or leisure, Mercure Bucharest offers a welcoming and comfortable stay. We left with wonderful memories and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

GGuest UserI cannot fault this hotel. So perfectly situated without being noisy, lovely staff, fantastic and varied breakfast (with excellent coffee), a well appointed gym, spotless and spacious. Thank you for making a solo female traveller happy, well fed and safe.

GGuest UserStayed one night at this hotel as I was in transit to Zurich and then Toronto. Checked in about noon I disagreed I was given a Superior Deluxe Room with Double Bed. My room is single room is on the third floor; with a single bed, fridge, TV... What almost kills me is there is no lift nor elevator in this hotel. I had to dragged my bag to my room. Luckily the reception lady was nice to take the small bag for me, No overnight staff is there. I checked out at 3.30am to take my early fight. dropped my key at the reception.

AAlb.P.A decent hotel for your trip to Bucharest. It's right next to the metro and the North Train Station. However, the area changes quite a bit at night and seems a little unsafe. The breakfast is plentiful and varied. As a suggestion, a waste bin in the room would be good, and on the negative side, the shower door was broken and didn't close properly.

GGuest UserPerfect base for a city trip to Bucharest! I stayed in a small single room. The room is indeed compact, but incredibly clean! It's thoroughly cleaned every day, and the tea bags and toiletries are also neatly refilled daily. The location is absolutely top-notch: the hotel is on a wonderfully quiet street, yet just a stone's throw away from the vibrant Old Town. This allows you to perfectly enjoy a night out and still get a good, peaceful night's sleep. The mattress is of very good quality; I slept wonderfully. A real recommendation for solo travelers!

GGuest UserIn any self-respecting hotel, you would expect basic amenities like toothbrush holders in the bathroom. There were none, so we had to place our toothbrushes on the counter by the sink. Even simple items such as a shower cap were not provided. Housekeeping entered every morning without waiting after knocking. During heavy snowfall, the hotel made no effort to clear a path outside, and we had to walk through snow and frozen puddles to reach our taxi, while other hotels had cleared walkways for their guests. On our last morning, my husband went to buy a coffee and was sent to the dining room. When he made a coffee, a staff member immediately questioned whether we had paid for breakfast and called reception to check, without giving him a chance to say he would pay. She then loudly announced, “Sir! You haven’t paid for the coffee!” as if he were trying to steal. He paid immediately and didn’t even take the change. Overall, this hotel is no more than a three-star property. Management seemed absent, and the staff were unprofessional and inattentive

NNel_oThe stay didn't start well, as my flight was delayed and I had to check in in the early morning. It took two hours until I was finally attended to. However, the rest of my days, with the great atmosphere, good vibes, and available services, left me more satisfied. The shared dorms were spacious, the air conditioning wasn't excessive, and you could either cook your own meals or enjoy a delicious and varied breakfast that was really worth it. I'd definitely come back despite the initial inconvenience. The photo is my best memory, as it's the first thing I saw when I left my room.
