GGayatri GallowayEstablished in 1879, this hotel is indeed the Grand Birmingham Hotel! It oozes classiness throughout.
Our room was spacious but looking at the floor plan, that seems to be the standard! Bathrobes provided though not slippers. The shower has a door instead of the useless walk in panels that never work! No useless espresso cups but proper world map mugs for our coffees and tea in-room. Two comfortable arm chairs and the bed⊠The bed was a dream and Iâm hoping to source the exact mattress topper and duvet!
Perfect for me as a smoker, the hotel has an exclusive courtyard terrace on the first floor offering complimentary self service coffee.
There are two adjacent restaurants to the hotel that uphold a dress code ensuring the premises is classy throughout. Beyond the hotel doors thereâs plenty other eateries as the hotel is bang in the centre right by the Birmingham Cathedral: again perfect for our following Palm Sunday.
The only thing I donât understand is why the hotel entrance is not bigger and grander than it deserves.

TTopcat07Hotel is in a great position at the top of Broad Street, greeted with a smile at reception and the room was ready early which was a bonus.Â
The twin room was on the 15th floor with great views over Edgbaston. The only fault was the bathroom door was very heavy and wouldnât close. This was reported and reception did offer to move us but we had already unpacked.Â
The biggest disappointment was breakfast - we saw photo in the lift and it looked great especially as my daughter is dairy free. However there were no blueberries or raspberries or strawberries or blackberries and when we pointed this out the lady behind reception said it was a case of false advertising - nothing was offered as compensation so all in all very disappointed.

GGuest UserAll staff were excellent always very helpful, facilities need refreshing hotel needs sprucing up, gym equipment tired and ripped Pool small.
Chairs in the bar area either dirty or broken, very busy hotel trying to be too many things to too many people. Tried to book Spa on Saturday or Sunday both full.
Breakfast basic to say the least.
It was a shame, as once again the staff made our stay.

NNaiyoudangaojiabingjilingI was genuinely surprised by how convenient the hotel's location was. It's just 20-30 meters from the train station, making it incredibly easy to reach. We could walk to every attraction, completely eliminating the need for public transportation. Chinatown being right next door was fantastic, offering endless dining options to suit all our family's tastes. The hotel itself was very quiet and comfortable, and it felt incredibly secure. Overall, we were extremely satisfied with our stay!

MMingweinideyichangyuThe hotel's location isn't great. You have to go through a park, and it's quite out of the way, so it's best to take an Uber. However, the environment is decent, and it's a chain hotel, so it's pretty well-managed. The bed is quite comfortable, and the cleanliness is good.
The overall space is a bit small. Luggage storage is very insecure; it's just a pile in a storage room with no labels and no one watching over it. The air conditioning in the room blows directly onto your head, which is a bit uncomfortable, and there's no outlet next to the bed for charging. Overall, besides being clean and tidy, everything else is just so-so. I booked it to save some money, but now I think I should have just booked a place near New Street Station.
Birmingham, though, is a nice city. It's not too expensive, and there are plenty of places to explore.

QqdcottonThis place can accommodate four people traveling together. It's in a very safe location next to Birmingham City University, and there are two supermarkets downstairs with normal prices. You can take different routes from either side of the hotel to the city center every day. It's very quiet, you can only hear the seagulls. There's also a great Indian restaurant in the area opposite. It's very close to the hotel, you can reach the Canal House (canal-side area) within 2 minutes, and just a short walk from there is old Birmingham.

GGuest User5 stars. Exceptionally clean room, outstanding staff and an unbeatable location. Everything you need is within walking distance and the surrounding shops and amenities make it the perfect spot. Friendly people throughout and an altogether excellent stay. Highly recommended.
