After a long trip arrived at hotel and quickly signed in. We were upgraded to a fantastic room, however phone and TV not working but a great balcony view of the South. China Sea and to the left the jungle. It was lovely to sit and watch the various birds and fireflies. Malaysia Airlines had lost one of our bags and did not seem concerned however after no success we spoke with James at reception who soon sorted it out and it arrived at 9pm. One day wasted Thanks Malaysia Airlines. The next day we had a leisurely breakfast plentiful and good choices of Malay and Western. Very courteous staff. Saw our first monitor lizard and had a garden tour by. a very informative employee Roy. Decided against the nature walk as advised not much to see this time of year. Spent most the day on the empty beach ( Some jellyfish but otherwise a nice dip) and in empty swimming pool. 3 linked pools lovely and warm but needs some maintenance and jacuzzi not working. Only a couple of restaurants were open and although quality of food was good the menus were similar. On our last day we had a very good Chinese style meal in The Noble House (Only open until early evening). As with most meals we were the only ones in the restaurant. All meals were very reasonably priced. The advertised firefly. tour was cancelled due to low tide but Christina arranged a private trip to see them and also the proboscis monkey. Well worth it. . Points to Note Low occupancy with the majority of guests staying overnight only, meant we had pools and beach to ourselves and the restaurants were virtually empty. Disadvantage was that some restaurants. and snack places did not open. Lovely remote location fantastic view , beach and garden walks however nothing in walking distance of the resort so unless taking a. taxi or day trip would not see or meet other local people restaurants or shops. Note the hotel shop has very limited souvenirs and only a few crisps and drinks. We had a great relaxing time, the hotel needs some updating and maintenance but that did not affect our.enjoyment. Staff were helpful and courteous and room clean and well stocked with water tea and coffee. A/C fine. So if you want a relaxing beach and pool holiday with good food and when we were there tranquility we recommend Nexus. PS book trips at the hotel as the one we booked through our agent was about 3 times more.

The Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort is an outstanding resort with exceptional service that leaves a lasting impression. Firstly, the service quality at the hotel is very high, with staff being friendly and helpful. Whether it's the reception or room service, they respond quickly to guests' needs and always with a smile.
Secondly, the quality of the in-room dining is excellent. Whether it's breakfast or dinner, the food delivered to the room is not only fresh and delicious but also beautifully presented, making you feel genuinely welcome. It's particularly worth mentioning that I once accidentally left some items in the room. The hotel staff promptly contacted me and arranged to return the items quickly, which was very reassuring.
However, there are a few areas where the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort could improve. Firstly, the hotel's location is relatively remote, making it inconvenient to hail a taxi, especially at night or during peak hours, which can be troublesome for guests who need to go out frequently. Additionally, there are some issues with the hotel's pool facilities. The edges of the pool may be rough, and I accidentally got a cut while using the pool. I hope the hotel can address this to enhance the safety and comfort of their guests.
Overall, the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort remains a highly recommended accommodation choice, particularly for travelers seeking excellent service and delicious meals. If they can resolve the transportation and pool facility issues, this would be an ideal place for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

We loved our stay at this hotel. The staff was helpful and friendly, and the check-in and check-out process was super quick. The location is excellent. It's within walking distance of Imago, with stores and restaurants outside the hotel.
The room was great. I have to say the bathroom area is spacious, but the doors are a little weird. The room was clean, and the bed and pillows were comfortable.
We also had the Saturday night buffet. It so happened that the buffet was busy that night, and I think they could have prepared better, but overall, the food was fantastic! Highly recommended.

My recent stay at The Pacific Sutera Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. Despite only spending 2 days and 1 night at the hotel, the level of service I experienced was truly top-notch. From the moment we stepped into the lobby until our departure, every aspect of our stay exceeded expectations.
The hotel's attention to detail was evident in every corner, from the cleanliness of the facilities to the overall ambiance, which contributed to a memorable and enjoyable experience. However, what truly set this stay apart was the outstanding service provided by the hotel staff.
I must make a special mention of one staff member whose name unfortunately escapes me. She mentioned that she has been a part of the hotel's team for the past 20 years, and her dedication to her work was palpable in every interaction we had with her. Her genuine friendliness, warmth, and professionalism enhanced our stay and left a lasting impression.
I believe it would be wonderful if the hotel could consider acknowledging her dedication and exceptional service with a bonus or some form of recognition. Her commitment to ensuring the comfort and satisfaction of guests like myself deserves commendation, and such gestures would not only serve as a token of appreciation but also motivate her and other staff members to continue delivering outstanding service.
Overall, my experience at The Pacific Sutera Hotel was nothing short of fantastic. I look forward to returning in the future and experiencing the hotel's hospitality once again. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable and delightful stay in Kota Kinabalu.
Warm regards,
Lydia
Within the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park off the coast of Kota Kinabalu in Borneo, Gaya Island Resort Kota Kinabalu rests along the coast of Malohom Bay, a natural sanctuary nestled in the hillside of an ancient rainforest with a stunning outline of Mount Kinabalu on the horizon. The resort's architecture respects Sabahan elements; its 120 villas and two-bedroom suite use local materials and blend harmoniously with the natural environment while villa interiors are designed with a contemporary elegance.Yet this is more than just a beautiful beachfront resort in stunning surroundings; with its PURE activities, this is a place for the curious to actively engage or peacefully absorb all Borneo has to offer. Seamlessly integrated within the mangroves is Spa Village, offering a rich tapestry of spa programs that reflect the ancient healing practices of the region while restoring balance to alleviate modern stresses. Dining is a burst of freshness and flavor; exquisite, sensory and sublime. Discoveries, authentic experiences and a sense of intimacy with the natural world all prevail across the land and seascape of this resort, with its youthful vibe and sun-dappled moments, offering travelers and families an escape that is distinctively Borneo. Gaya Island Resort is committed to ecologically-sustainable practices to minimize the carbon footprint within its environment. Therefore, the resort is a walking resort and only minimal motorized vehicles are used for operational purposes.
GGuest User2023.09.03
We spent 3 nights at Gaya Island Resort and had a great time, I thought I would write a review because there are a few things worth considering before you go. Firstly, the place itself is amazing, the staff are super friendly and caring - probably the most professional I have ever experienced in my many years of travelling. So all in all it was a wonderful stay. The things worth noting are as follows: 1. The sunbeds, I think may have mentioned it and it's worth mentioning again - there are nowhere near enough. When you pay and arm and a leg to stay at a beautiful resort it is annoying that they haven't found a way to add more sunbeds. People get there early, throw on their towels and stay or disappear and the seat is gone for the day. This is a solvable issue and the resort should so something about it. 2. Check in is after 3 - could be later - and it's not flexible, so if you are arriving earlier be prepared to sit around waiting for your room. It would be nice if they could flex a little as waiting hours for a room without your bags is not a joy, but it is what it is. 3. Eating - you are on the resort, so you are eating in one of their restaurants - no other options available. There are a few restaurants so not really a problem (we did the hot pot restaurant and it was great), but good to be aware. By far the most expensive places we ate in Malaysia, but I guess given the quality of the resort it wasn't a surprise and the main restaurant is reasonable enough. 4. Activities - my wife and daughter did the cooking class and loved it, we did the night walk - which was fun and me and my son did the coral garden. The Coral garden was fun and I was lucky to see a big old shark. However there is a large amount of plastic floating on the surface of the water that is quite concerning and makes the whole place not feel so clean. The corals and fish look healthy so may be fine, but be prepared to swim through bottles and crisp bags to see the fish. The local resorts and local authorities should really work together to resolve and you pay the tourist tax, so not sure where that's going, but not to plastic clearance by the look of it. Hope that's helpful. all in all, it's a beautiful place to stay, could just do with a tweak here and there to make it even better

Well maintained resort and good service. Breakfast spread is good and yummy. Harbour is just 5-10 mins walk away to take boat ride to the Tunku Abdul Rahman islands. Boat ride is only about 15-20mins to the islands. Lovely great swimming pools for both adults and kids and a small private beach for snorkeling. Rooms are clean and spacious. Sunset is beautiful. Love the stay and we will be back. Thank you!

We booked the ocean wing junior suite for a 4D3N stay. The service staff was very helpful and accommodative to our request to change room so that we can stay adjacent to one another. Overall stay was fantastic, especially the food which was delicious and satisfied our palate. There are many activities which you can book with a fee. The spa was located at the scenic golf club and it was great. We also took up a day tour which included a river cruise and firefly viewing. It was a beautiful sight and good experience (minus the mosquitoes!). The resort is not exactly near any amenities but it offers complimentary shutter bus service to Suria Sabah and Imago Shopping Mall three times daily. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a holiday with some exclusivity.

The hotel room which I stayed was very confortable, with wide space, big bed, clean bedsheets and near to eating places and also near to the airport. Initially I was afraid the noise from the airplanes may disturb my sleep as my room was facing on the left side of the building, but to my surprise I did not hear planes flying so I was happy that I didn't experience any noise to disturb my tranquility. The only con is there is no restaurant in the hotel so my breakfast came as a bento like box takeaway. No coffee also, the coffee is available in the room but is chargeable. Only the tea bags are free. The parking is multi-storeyed and managed electronically. You put your car into the car lift and it is then parked automatically one car at a time. To retrieve your car, you need to scan your hotel card for it to be brought down via the car lift again. It may be time consuming if you are in a hurry and there are a few people in the queue before you.

GGuest UserAfter comparing several sea view apartments in the city center, I chose their romantic sunset sea view apartment.
The main reason is that the arrival time of the flight was already midnight, so I arranged an airport pick-up with the landlord, which saved us the trouble of how to drive to the apartment and check in.
The host, CK, helped us with all the check-in procedures in advance, and took us directly to the door of the apartment after picking us up from the airport.
The next morning, I was woken up by the lively sound of the fishing pier. When I opened the curtains, the large glass balcony faced the pier, and I could see the blue sea while lying on the bed! Facing the setting sun in the evening, it’s like lying on the bed and blowing the air-conditioning to enjoy the top ten golden sunsets in the world! The location of the apartment is very convenient. You can meet all your travel needs within a five-minute walk, especially the must-eat Internet celebrity food, and five minutes to the Fisherman's Wharf Bar Street. It's a pity that we only arranged to stay for one night this time, and we must come again next time!

AAlmayaThe best stay ever. The room is very comfortable, clean, and superb with electrical appliances. Never thought they would provide cordless vacuum and steam iron in the room. It is a beautiful deco and gives us a very comfortable feeling to stay at the room. Easy access to eateries and very convenient to all nearby shops. Will definitely choose this homestay again.

LLuqman86I last stayed here back in 2011. I’m suprised to see how lovely the hotel is now. It had been fully renovated. Love the lobby and the restaurant. Didn’t manage to use the facilities there though. I shall make a return and try them out.
Room was still as big as before. It’s beautiful now. Only downside was that i can never figure out how to connect my phone via Bluetooth to the TV. The bathroom was nice. Love the colours of the room and the bathroom.
Room service menu is acceptable. But i have to commend. Room service is very, very fast. Asked to make up room, asked for laundry service, asked for ice and they’ll be at the door within 5-10mins. Never beyond 10mins, unlike some other hotels i’ve stayed in Singapore, KL, Penang, Istanbul, Canada, Malacca, Dubai, Nepal, New Delhi, Bali and Bandung. I am truly, very, very impressed. Check in and check out was a breeze. I will definitely stay here again in my next trip to KK. Thank you Le Meridien!

FFRANKLINE L.Booked this hotel for Marathon event at PADANG BANDARAN DBKK Kota Kinabalu.
This hotel only a stone throw away from the event that I enrolled. Oposite is famous and popular GAYA STREET. Hotel are clean and I love the Reception and Restaurant staffs. Friendly and are excellent. They have breakfast which is adequate to fill your hungry stomach. The BREAKFAST NEED IMPROVEMENT. Lacking the choices of FRUITS and Bread Rolls. They do have cakes but providing a few extra bread rolls and fruits won't harm the restaurant budget. HOWEVER THIS HOTEL I FULLY RECOMMENDED to everyone or and travellers.
This hotel toilet is also MUSLIM FRIENDLY. THE WATER SPRAY Pressure ARE STRONG. NICE.
****FRIENDLY REMINDER, this hotel charge for Parking Fees which is RM5 only during my one night stay with family.

GGuest UserWe stayed here as part of a group tour. The first impressions were great as the staff took our luggage to our accommodation and they gave us a helpful briefing about the island. We were also welcomed with cold towels and a cold drink which was very welcome. The island does get very busy, particularly on weekends with day trippers, but we liked that there was a beach specifically for hotel guests. The hotel also has a pool but we didn’t use this. Our room was really nice with a comfy bed and fluffy pillows and good air con. We had a safe, a fridge and kettle and tea and coffee, and the bathroom was nice and spacious. We also had sofas to sit and relax with a tv. The only point I would make is that there were no shelves to put your clothes on in the rooms but we got creative and took the ironing board out of the cupboard and created our own makeshift shelf. It was so sweet that the staff left us a weather forecast on a card for the next day, and some chocolates in our room. The restaurant on the island was really good with nice breakfast choices and dinner options. Breakfast was included and we thought the food options and drinks were reasonably priced. We were also serenaded by a band who played a few songs for us at dinner which was fun. We loved walking along the pier where you could see baby black tips, puffers, needle fish and shoals of fish - anchovies. There are a lot of sandflies and mosquitoes on the island and in our room we were given a plugged in repellant along with a candle to deter them which the staff lit for us. Even though we wore repellent at night (dusk and dawn), we got so many bites so it is worth covering up at night; especially legs and feet. We also got lots of stings on the snorkelling trip from sea lice, so if you are sensitive to bites and feel allergic, we would recommend that you wear a long wetsuit or lycra pants if you have them. We had a lovely relaxing time here and it was a very enjoyable stay for us.

GGuest UserNothing much that i can say. my family and I have amazing stay at Borneo Beach Villa karambunai for 3 days 2 night. The villas is clean, the pool is clean and the beach is so beautiful. My family really enjoy with the stay. However the reason i give. 4 star because our villa has some of broken chair at table outside and the door is very hard to open because of rusty. I think maybe the villa itself is too old. Mybe it just our villa not sure with another. GGuest UserWe had a room with a balcony, lagune view: beautyful and private. The walls are not that thick, so depending on the neighbours a bit noisy. The shower is small, but works fine. Great Thai restaurant in the front and some supermarkets closeby.
