The hotel was in the middle of heavy snow at Hakkosan, so I didn't expect much. Although the service staff don't speak English very well, they are very hardworking. Both dinner and breakfast were good, especially dinner.

Breakfast and dinner are divided into Japanese and Western styles. Dinner is very ceremonial, especially French food. The hotel is very close to the ski resort and Suantang Hot Spring, and there is a shuttle bus. The restaurant has a good view. It is very pleasant to sit in the warm restaurant, drink hot coffee, and look at the snow outside.

The Hakkoda Hotel is a good hotel that I will not forget in my life. It was a super heavy snowstorm that day, and my wife and I could only do hotel activities. It was comfortable in the strong wind but there was no outdoors. The restaurant was delicious with Japanese and Western food After that, I fell asleep 😴 Special mention that there is no other food in the hotel 🤣 Remember that there are no cup noodles! ! So if you can’t get out of the hotel, there will be no other food 🥱 But the service quality is very high, the hotel is clean and beautiful, and it’s a good place to go

Although the accommodation building was old in places, the lobby, restaurant, bar, etc. had a stately feel and it was a very nice hotel overall. Above all, the hospitality of the staff was fantastic. Although many things have become mechanized recently, I felt that this hotel had retained the good qualities of an old hotel in a good way.

Hakkoda is crowded with tourists who come to see the frost-covered trees, but this place is a different world. There are less than 60 guest rooms, so even when it is fully booked, it doesn't feel crowded. You can see the beautiful forests of Erman's birch and beech from the rooms. I personally prefer the lofted maisonette, which has separate floors for the bathroom, living room, and bedroom, to the spacious one-floor special room I stayed in previously. There are lockers for storing skis, mountain gear, and other luggage near the large bath, and they are spacious enough. The bath is available at select times and can be used day and night except during the daytime cleaning time. You can choose between Japanese and French for dinner and breakfast. Originally, they only served French food, but it's hard to choose which is better. If you want to enjoy the snowy scenery, French is the place to go. At French restaurants, you can enjoy wine with scallops and crab hors d'oeuvres. Most of the ingredients, including the main dish of tilefish and beef, were from Aomori Prefecture. The wine pairing is also good. The Japanese restaurant has no windows and you can't enjoy the view, but it's not bad at all with the lovely interior, including prints by Munakata Shiko. You can enjoy high-quality local cuisine, including sashimi. I like Kansui (a type of sake), but there are other good options too. After dinner, we went to the bar with the piano. No music. It was surprisingly empty, with a nice atmosphere, and we spent the night listening to the bartender's stories. They also serve sweets. It has the simplicity of Aomori, but the staff are proud of their work, and I think it's a very good hotel. Although it's a season with little snowfall nationwide, there was well over 2 meters of snow around the hotel, so we enjoyed a quiet walk on snowshoes. The Hakkoda Ropeway was very crowded, so we gave up on skiing from the summit station. What a shame.

The log cabin building, especially the dining room, had a high ceiling and the lights from the chandelier reflected in the windows, giving it a very majestic look. The interior has been renovated and is comfortable, but the exterior has an undeniable aging feel, the walkways within the premises are paved with asphalt, and the distance from the room to the forest is far, so the sense of unity with nature was not as great as I had expected. Dinner was a full course French meal, but they didn't pay particular attention to ingredients produced in Aomori, and the taste was average, giving me the impression that it was just average. Overall, my impression was that it was a slightly expensive ``luxury resort hotel from a while back.''

Stayed here with my son and his wife. The log house style hotel, from the entrance to the lobby to the restaurant, may not be large, but it has a dignified feel, and there are plenty of photo spots. It was supposed to be full that day (Saturday), but it was extremely quiet, giving the impression that there were a lot of people. The room (standard twin) is spacious and has sufficient furniture and equipment. (Early morning) The view of the morning mist through the window is an art. For dinner, we enjoyed a refreshing French meal that used less sauce to bring out the flavors of the ingredients, and we thoroughly enjoyed the ingredients from Aomori. Drink service is a bit slow, but as soon as you look up you can see the staff, so it's not an inconvenience. Also, the white bread and (hard) croissants for breakfast are the best. The quality of the hot springs is different from Sukayu Onsen (which is free for hotel guests, so you should definitely go), but it's stimulating enough (my face was stinging). The cypress-made bathroom wasn't very large, but it didn't feel crowded and I was able to relax. The staff's response was modest but professional, and when I returned from going out, I was handed my room keys (for 2 rooms) before I even got to the front desk, and for the first time in a while I felt like we were having ``tacit communication.'' I did. Overall, it is a comfortable resort hotel where you can relax even though there is no customary hospitality.
