Online check in wasn't working new system issues but that was ok. Very friendly staff. 24hr reception, menu etc. breakfast prices need updating as they are £8 not £6. Light help yourself breakfast pastries toast, cereal and coffee. Nice spacious dining hall. Plenty of communal areas to sit and relax and the bar is a great place to meet and chat to people. The stairs were a challenge after a long day for me but rooms comfy. Curtains around beds give you good privacy. Trinity church over the road has lots of history and worth a visit. Regency Chinese is a great place to eat a short walk away. Close to the walls, station, city, bridges etc.. great for sight seeing. In a quiet part of the city. Loved my stay. Would stay here again. Great value.
The room was clean and tidy. The staff who checked me in was called Indu. Professional service. Warm, Friendly, meticulous, patient. The manager is also very warm, friendly and attentive to the guests. All the staff are very warm and friendly to the guests. Help me a lot. There is a self-service kitchen, dining room, bar, movie theater. There are other facilities. It is my favorite hostel. Will stay again next time.
I stayed here for two nights to attend a conference during May, It was a convenient 10 minutes walk to the Harrogate Convention Centre. The room was uncomfortably hot and stuffy during the hot weather but a stand-up fan was provided to enable us to sleep. English breakfast with few pastries and fruits was OK.
Staff were so friendly at this hotel. I was there alone and didn't dine or try the leisure facilities but the hotel is stunning and the location perfect will be back!
It was a spacious room, nice and comfortable mattress. Although it is next to the main road, it was quiet at night.
Lovely view to the back, they call it river view. It is a cannel where had a lot of ducks, geese and swan swimming up and down.
A good place to stay.
The hotel has a beautiful location. The antique building has been kept in excellent condition. We chose to stay in the Feature Double Room-old Hall. The room was very spacious, with seating area. A coffee machine was also available. Cool drinks in the fridge. Breakfast was delicious, individually cooked, with a wide choice. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend this hotel
We often stay in Harrogate but had deemed this hotel a bit far out of town. Far from it. It's a pleasant stroll of 5 minutes through a nice residential area to get to the main shopping and eating areas of town. The Hotel has plenty of parking (small daily fee) or plenty of on road parking closeby (right outside of a weekend).
In particular the staff were excellent. So many smiles and so pleased to help. We stayed for a function and the event room and servicing were very good (nice crossiants). Well done Cedar Court you exceeded our expectations.
Had a lovely stay here during our trip to Harrogate for conference held at the convention centre. Extremely convenient as the hotel is literally connected to the convention centre. Otherwise a slight walk from the train station but pleasant as the town is quaint. Also surrounded by food options in the streets nearby.

Great
ZZhushaoyouVery good, there is a pantry with free snacks, the decoration style is very unique, highly recommended, the service attitude is very good, I think you must stay in York, the breakfast is also great
JJess BrowningFrom the moment we arrived at the hotel the staff couldn’t be more friendly and helpful. The bunker room made for a unique and comfortable stay and loved the little touches like the KitKats in the room on arrival. The only small complaint would be the shower head sprayed out, the whole bathroom floor to become soaked, but nothing major at all. We’ll definitely be back and recommending to to anyone staying in York.
CClaytonIt was an ok stay but for us we didn’t realise we booked when the football was on and the away fans had pretty much booked the hotel and to say it was noisy was an understatement.
Staff were friendly enough but didn’t ask us if we wanted Breakfast or if we had stayed there before so seemed pretty sub standard and not really that invested in what they were doing.
We had planned to use the pool but some local kids sneaked in and used it making it loud and unusable during our stay they were just causing problems and the hotel didn’t act.
This is the biggest failing the hotel fails to act we had loud guests door slamming music playing loud football fans going mad till 4am and nothing was done about it.
The beds were not that comfy as sadly neither of us had a good nights sleep on top of the noise by others the rooms offered no sound proofing.
No air conditioning which is crazy in this day and age and not even a fan in the room, when we asked for one we just got laughed at and told good luck with that by housekeeping.
This places lacks staff that care or take pride in their work.
The bathroom had no fan so when used steam went everywhere and the water pressure and temperature was terrible it wasn’t overly clean so couldn’t use the bath.
Only thing going for this hotel is it’s location but we wouldn’t use it again as the rooms need a lot of TLC and the staff need extra training more so on the communication front.
Upon check out we weren’t even asked did we enjoy our stay as we wanted to raise our concerns.
GGuest UserUnfortunately, on both check in and check out I was told by the receptionist that their system kept crashing meaning both took much longer to do than it should. This was frustrating, but these things happen. The real issue is the smell of the cosy rooms to the rear of the site. We had 3 rooms booked (51,52 & 53) for us and friends and we instantly noticed the strong odour when walking into the rooms. we quickly realised these rooms backed directly onto the rear of The Viceroy Indian restaurant. The odour from the restaurant kitchen has ingrained into the furnishings of the rooms. I recommend you avoid these rooms when staying at this hotel.

AAnonymous UserGood location, short walking distance into town. Room size is comfortable for two pax. Broken shower was not informed to us when checking in. Had to shower over the bath that had no showering curtain, this made the entire toilet wet and potentially slippery. It will also be inconvenient if someone is unable to climb in and out of a bath easily.
Towels were not provided, requested via the QR code. However, after waiting awhile, we had to go down to lobby to remind the staff of our request. It was then promptly addressed.
PPing ShingHotel Reception has very good service. We are arrived at the hotel early but the reception also arranged hotel rooms for us, so felt that the hotel service was very good.
For other thins is the hotel room is a bit older but the room is clean. Overall has good service and hotel. Thank you
GGuest UserGood sized double room and bathroom.
Generally all was as expected, and although housekeeping did not come in to refresh supplies, I could easily obtain more teabags etc in the reception area.
I was surprised there was no bath mat, thus the bathroom floor became quite wet unnecessarily.
The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and I would recommend this hotel for it’s location.
GGuest UserHotel is situated right opposite Clifton tower and is conveniently located within. The city centre - walking distance to the Shambles and other attractions. The parking situation is problematic - although aware it is first come first served, there is nowhere available to park up and ask except the three spaces in front of the hotel and if taken, you end up circling the road for an absolutely age before a space becomes available. If no parking on site end up parking over the road on public car park which is inconvenient as keep having to work out when to renew. The cleanliness is a slight issue, we thought there was dust on surfaces but more likely to be cloth fibres from the cleaners but still don't expect shedding like this. Room was fine but did think bathroom was on the smaller side for a double deluxe room. Service in general was good - couldn't really fault.
NnigelFirst the positives.
The room was very clean, comfortable and bathroom was obviously recently refurbished.
Breakfast was excellent and good value, but more on that later.
Now the not so good, or could do better!
The check in policy is ludicrous, I understand they need to have a designated check in time, but whilst waiting (40 minutes) I overheard the staff clearly stating that all rooms were ready for guests, but as people were entering the reception they were informed that check was not possible until 3pm and they had to wait or pay £10.00 for an early check in!
The result was a packed reception and when they did commence check in, due to a “new system “ it was painfully slow! Very poor customer service.
The breakfast was good value, but the attitude of the cashier guy was poor at best, probably rude if to be defined. On approaching him I was asked “ breakfast for two “ to which I replied “ no there’s only one” to which he snapped “ well I’m not to know that!”
Not expected and yes rude!
