I must comment on this particularly good hotel, with a century-old history, exquisite style and beauty, the filming location of ”Gone with the Wind”, the canteen is rich in content and has flowers, the hotel is very good for taking photos, the location is also in the city center, the service is very good. The breakfast cart delivered to the room has a heat preservation function, which is a super 5-star experience.
Great location. Loved the balcony. The pull out couch was very uncomfortable. It had sprinģs coming through. The breakfast was nice even though it was reduced due to covid. The hoteĺ was very clean. The front desk workers were great. We would definitely stay here again.

Booked at a discount but still about $250 per night, plus parking. Very disappointing. Room was clean but more at a Motel 6 level. No bedspread or extra blanket, uninspired b/w sketches on the walls, no ”Colonial Williamsburg” ambiance, defective TV remote, cramped bathroom with no tub, carpet that appeared threadbare, and no housekeeping until 3pm. Reasonable if under a hundred a night but at the prices charged? Avoid, avoid, avoid.
The GW in Winchester is downtown Old Winchester. Its an old Grand Hotel with amazing rooms all with quality furnishings and beds so comfy you can sleep all day. The lobby features a piano bar and lounge, which is a huge attraction to visitors and locals. The Hotel also features a very good resturant for nice table cloth dining. Food is excellent. The hotel also features a Greek style indoor pool and hot tub. Location is at the end of tje downtown walking mall, so get out and check out all the shops and resturants- the mall often features events and outdoor music. This Hotel is also perfect if you are visiting and exploring all the history the area has to offer. (Some items are covid restricted, amended resturant hours and hot tub may be closed delending on restrictions- pool was open though) check this place out - definately a good experience.
Our family traveled to Washington by car in February, and this hotel is highly recommended. Self-parking is 44 dollars per night, and guest parking is 49 dollars per night, which is a bit expensive. If you park by yourself in the underground parking lot, you need to spend time looking for a parking space. The hotel has its own shuttle bus to the subway station, which is quite convenient. You can reach tourist check-in points in the city within a few subway stops. Cleanliness and service are average at Renaissance.

The rooms here are comfortable and I like the modern decor and features in the room & bath...the shower is wonderful. Since my stay was during the pandemic, the services had been reduced but there was a morning coffee service that helped get the day going. I also appreciated the on-site laundry room. The machines in the gym were equipped with individual t.v. monitors. The hotel also has a shuttle to national airport. The best part of the hotel is the excellent/friendly service you receive from the staff.
The only recommendation I would make would be to inform guests about dining options since the hotel could not provide anything b/c of covid. A few take-out menus or a list of nearby options (even if just posted in the lobby) would be helpful.

I like using this for extra protection. The last night of our 5 night stay we had a woman come into our room while we were trying to get to sleep due to an early flight the next morning. She said she was sorry that she bothered us and thought this was her room apparently she told the front desk that and they just gave her the key TO OUR ROOM!?? Would you not at least get some ID or verification that this was the correct room. This was very unsettling and we were nervous about our safety and left early for our flight. also some things to know there is No daily maid service, towel exchange or coffee replenishment and we had to ask for toilet paper.

GGuest UserThis is a lovely hotel! It's classy and elegant, and overall it'll make your vacation that much more special. The location is great, as you can walk to restaurants or other places in Luray. The Luray Caverns are a quick drive away, as is a Walmart and Food Lion, and Skyline Drive's Thornton Gap Entrance is close by. I ate at the Circa '31 restaurant for breakfast, which was reasonably priced (the menu is small with a few standard breakfast options). Free coffee and muffins in the lobby at all times. The Speakeasy restaurant is very good, and has various specials/deals each night. The bedrooms are small, but comfortable. The grounds are beautiful, with an area for bonfires and hammocks, as well as a pool and hot tub area. The staff is very kind and accommodating.
A few recommendations for the management:
~Put mini fridges in the rooms
~Put chairs on the balcony so people can use it as a sitting area
~Something to provide more counter space in the bathrooms
I recommend the Mimslyn Inn to anyone staying in the Luray area!

GGuest UserMy flight was cancelled so I needed to find a place to stay. The location was very convenient for DCA airport, either by metro (2 stops) or car and connected to the mall. Following Ritz Carlton’s standard, all staff was incredibly respectful, caring and attentive without being stifling. Ordered in-room dining for dinner and it was okay, but nothing special. Presentation and service of it was impeccable. When checking in, I was unexpectedly upgraded to club floor, which was very kind of them, especially after a long day of canceled and rebooked flights. Please be sure to treat the staff kindly, as it is the right thing to do. If I am in the area again, I will happily return.

AAnonymous UserRight on the beach and walking distance to many shops and restaurants, hotel lobby and rooms were clean but AC in rooms doesn't work very well and a few rooms have issues with doors locking guests out of their rooms due to shifting of the security latch. Front desk staff and housekeeping staff were friendly, however one manager didn't seem to care if she offended the guests as she made comments about the house keeping ”not speaking English well enough” and making comments behind their backs.

GGuest UserThe hotel was average and a little disappointed for my anniversary. I paid for breakfast and wasn’t told the Christmas Eve breakfast was reservations only. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed and the breakfast they offered was not up to par from what I was offered the day prior.
The receptionist lady tried to solve the issue and was very nice but the issue wasn’t solved.

TTiHad a nice time with the family. The hotel was a nice getaway for a staycation with family. We had someone in a wheelchair and found the room easily accessable for them. It was clean and the check in was easy. The room were big and we had a view of the city I would recommend this hotel.
