I only stayed one night in the midst of the pandemic so I’m sure this hotel has a very different dynamic in regular times. The reception area is fantastic, a huge, high ceiling area meaning you can see right up to the top floor. Add some pedestrian traffic and guests and you’ve got a great place to have a coffee or meet people. In today’s environment, it just seemed sad and empty. The room was well equipped, nice big bed, good bathroom - though who uses a bidet in 2020? Service was good as you would expect from having so few guests. As with all hotels, they are keen to point out and highlight their environmental commitments. But then this hotel takes payment for electric car charging - presumably with the excuse they have no choice etc, managed by another company etc. It seems green issues are only an initiative if they save money. That aside, I would stay here again and I’m sure it’s a very different place in normal times.

The sauna costs €6.50 because of the increased energy costs. It would be OK if it was included in the booking and the infrared cabin worked. The breakfast food is nothing special. Well, I got a roll that was from the day before. The breakfast service is friendly, but they wander around aimlessly. They walk past tables that need clearing, preferring to clean tables or set them instead of refilling food and drinks. You stood in front of a half-empty buffet, even water bottles were not replaced. The room was simply furnished and the bed was comfortable. If you wanted a made bed and the trash can emptied, you had to hand in a card at reception. Only then did you get room service. The room itself was clean, but the cleaning lady apparently didn't know the corners of the ceiling and floor because there were cobwebs there. After I asked them to remove them, they got rid of them.

The Niu is thoroughly recommended for short trips and uncomplicated arrival and departure. The parking situation is sad with the prices, but there is a parking garage nearby. The stay was relaxed and quiet. The beds were very comfortable and the room was spartan (we were missing a table in the room). Otherwise you can't say anything bad about Niu.

The hotel is very handy location wise since it‘s located right next to the main train station. You don‘t hear much of it though with the window closed. Service and cleanliness is ok too. During this stay I found the room to he very cold though and I couldn’t find a thermostat.

No porters. Two separate lifts to get to the second floor. I booked a deluxe room and the first room I was given was in the attic with windows the size of the slits used to fire arrows out of in castles. After a serious complaint I was given a proper room however the air conditioner did not work. When I queried this the receptionist said the whole second floor was without air-conditioning this would have been fine if the outside temperature had not been the 34 degrees it was during our stay on top of this the room was west facing so the temperature inside the room was well into the 30's most of the time. The secure parking is €16 per day and the swimming pool an extra €6 per person per day. The restaurant was full of flies at breakfast time and front door did not work on the day we left so everyone had to use a side door.

Hotel located in the center of the city; offers a restaurant and free WiFi in the entire hotel. A 10-minute walk takes you to the railway station and town hall. Ideal for a business stay. Car parking available and not expansive. Receptionist kind and helpful. In the room, availbale free drinks from the mini bar. TV is very big anyhow with no so many channel. In-room safe available. Comfortable and large bed. Desk/table is large and useful to work in the room. Also furnitures are good. Anyhow the cleaning of the room is not so good: a lot of points against: broken curtain, dirty dust on carpet, glasses in the bathroom were dirty (!) and night by night no cleaning of the room. No air conditioning in the room. Small and poorly equipped gym. And no water is available, only towels. Excellent and plentiful breakfast: personnel very kind. 5 stars for the personnel. Quality/price just sufficient in relationship to my experience

We were traveling from Warsaw to Rotterdam and needed a overnight stop . This location was perfect close to the motorway. We had not pre booked , but the receptionist was very helpful and spoke per English. The room was spotless and provided space and other little extas. We ate in the restaurant, and although the menu was limited , there was enough choice and was very tasty. The staff again were very polite and the young gentleman spoke English which was very helpful. Breakfast again was plentiful with a mass choice for everyone , including a gluten free area ( for those). I really like 'classic' hotels: sweeping staircases, uniquely shaped rooms, vintage furniture, slightly creaky hallways etc. Dormero fits the bill. but.... Hospitality is key. I arrived at the hotel at 23:06. I was told I had no reservation. After insisting, I was told that my reservation was cancelled because I was too late, the desk closes at 23.00, and why did I not know that. I tried digging into my high school German to apologise, but was then confronted with the fact that I may not refer to the desk clerk as 'Du', but should use 'Sie' (I remember this, I should have used 'you' (Sie)) instead of 'you' (Du) as a matter of politeness). Then she complained I had a 'foreign' phone number so she couldn't contact me to check if I was coming (I am a global traveller, but have a phone from a neighbouring EU country. SMS/whatsapp/phone calls all work.) Anyway, it took at least 15 minutes for the clerk to 'retrieve' my reservation and get me the key. some background about my role in this. I looked up the hotel on the largest hotel website, but booked on the hotel's own site. Why give more money to the platform. So, you think the hotel would value my consideration. I received the email confirmation and just checked quickly that the date was correct. I was planning to check in to the hotel before my business dinner at 19.00, but my train arrived an hour late, so I had to run to dinner. This stuff happens, and you hope that accommodations can accommodate this. I have come across hotels with early desk closing. They always mail or text separately that this is the case, and then describe how to enter hotel of pick up key after hours (ever heard of a key-code entry system?). Anyway, next trip I may book the corporate box hotel and skip the quaint. A pity.

We wanted to look at Quedlinburg (and Wernigerode). This hotel is located about 15 minutes' walk from the centre and next to the station (Harz narrow track steam train).. Extremely friendly reception. Great renovated room with perfect shower. Good and friendly service. Free parking at the hotel and free wifi in the room Furthermore, a perfect breakfast with a lot of choice and a nice lunch package for the road as a knock on the fire pile. In short, a weekend when we visited a very nice city and a beautiful hotel at a mild price.

Location is just outside the center so easy access to the hotel. Parking is accross the road (Cars drive a bit fast there). There is a park next to the parking nice for a (doggy) walk. Hotel itself is nice and you can walk to the town. (Perhaps a bit of a walk for people with mobility issues). Room was basic but clean. Breakfast was quiet good with many options.

Es fing damit an, dass meine Reservierung nicht gleich zu finden war - kann vorkommen. Das Hotel hat vier Sterne - von wem frage ich mich? Man siehr noch, dass es mal ein Ramada war, aber leider nur der erste Eindruck. Die Holztäfelung machte es unmöglich gemütlich im Bett etwas Fernzusehen, die Kissen waren matschig. Eine Kaffee/Tee Station im Zimmer fehlte genauso wie eine Minibar. Die Sauberkeit war leider auch nur äußerlich, in den Ecken und auf dem Fernseher war es leider nicht so schön, Stauballergiker hätten hier Probleme. Das Frühstück war vom Preis/Leistungsverhältnis negativ, ich habe den Tag verärgert beginnen müssen, ein Foto von der Fischplatte lege ich bei. Die Brötchen einfallslos, die Würstchen viel zu lange gebraten und total vertrocknet, die Säfte nicht frisch und die Aufschnittauswahl mäßig. Der Preis war nicht gerechtfertigt. Der Schlauch der Dusche zu kurz und die Armaturen sind leider billige. Es fehlte ein Waschlappen und es gab auch keine Bodylotion. Das einzige was wirklich viel rausgeholt hat, war das Personal an der Bar. Dieses kämpfte gegen eine unzureichend ausgestattete Bar (Das Management ist das inkompetenteste, was mir seit langem untergekommen ist). Die Beiden gaben sich super viel Mühe, waren schnell und freundlich, auch in stark frequentierten Momenten. Man sollte beide befördern, denn deren Vorgestzte, sollten vielleicht einmal mit denen tauschen. Fazit: Das Hotel spart an allen Ecken zu lasten von Qualität und Service. Man soll kommen, bezahlen und gehen, aber sich nicht wohlfühlen. Es sind wirklich nur Kleinigkeiten und ich wäre sehr zufrieden gewesen, aber bei dem Preis, oder besser Preisen - nein Danke. Auch die im Fahrstuhl propagierte ”Best Price” Werbung für die eigene Webseite, stellte sich zumindest für mich als falsch heraus - ich habe den günstigeren Kurs woanders gefunden. Von Gratis Extras steht auch etwas im Fahrstuhl - auch Fehlanzeige. Schade!

I was a weekend for the family in Magdeburg and I went to the Classic Hotel without any sleeping places. I arrived very late and hadn't eaten yet (23:00) and was very tired. I hadn't expected it anymore but I got a super delicious pizza and a cool beer from the hotel bar. The bed was super comfortable and I sleeped very well this night. This hotel is suitable for couples, singles and families. The atmosphere is very relaxed and you can relax in the foyer super. It is not overlooking and the staff is very nice.

Excellent hotel ideally located on the central market square, of which we had great views from our spacious junior suite (it can be a bit noisy when they are setting things up outside early morning). Breakfasts are fabulous, with a particularly good selection of mueslis and cheeses, and a large slab of creamy butter tabled each morning. Coffee arrives instantly at your table, and service is speedy and efficient. We dined twice in the hotel's restaurant in the evening, and found it to be high quality, with interesting local produce (pott-suss was really tasty) and, slightly surprisingly, very good German red wine. Barman Andy was one of the best we've encountered - fast, lively and friendly, with a good menory for previous choices, and the ability to produce great cocktails, whether on the menu or not. Most of the staff spoke good English, which took the stress away from relying on my schoolboy German. Only criticism is that we'd have appreciated a bit of help getting our luggage to our room , as it was a long way from reception and involved corridor steps (though there is a lift fortunately). Wernigerode is a good base for the Harz region: we managed to ascend der Brocken (one of us actually walking!), rode the Brockenbahn and the Bimmelbahn, and took a trouble-free bus ride to Quedlinburg, a World Heritage site which is well worth a visit.

We stayed here as part of a group. The hotel was very busy with both regional and international companies. We were amazed by the size of the dining room which was expanded nightly via adjoining room partitions to accommodate the masses. Our room was large and comfy with a built-in luggage rack and plenty closet space. What is certainly weird, and maybe this is a German thing, but my husband loved the instant cappuccino packs provided in the room, but these were never refilled. In fact, our mugs were left dirty and we had to wash them ourselves. No milk or creamer are provided, so you've got to take a little jug from the restaurant. No coffee or tea supplies were refilled during our time. Others in our group had the same experience. The front office service was hit or miss and generally I found them more engrossed in their tasks like balancing their floats than to attend to customers'. A front office agent should be forward facing I feel at all times, as otherwise you're looking at the staff from the side and trying to get their attention. The buffet was quite good as we enjoyed breakfasts and lunches daily. I wish the fish was done in different styles but I liked the variety nightly for dinner and lots of vegetable options. The dessert could have been was more innovative than mousse, mousse and mousse in different flavours with icecream. Some bread pudding, proper cake, a trifle or creme caramel, meringue, etc. would have been welcomed, especially by the international guests. I mean even German desserts like Apple strudel, Lebkuchen, Plum cake or other regional sweet would have been nice. Location is halfway between the railway station and the center of town and the little red land train to the castle starts & stops just behind the hotel so this is very ideal. We enjoyed the bar in the evenings. The bartender Salvatore was a delightful character; friendly and efficient despite not speaking a word of English. We would definitely stay here on a future trip.
