Hotel near São Conrado,Rio de Janeiro

This hotel has a corporate vibe, with good proximity to a less busy beach than Copa or Ipanema. The amenities are decent, the rooms are small-ish but clean.  Both the main restaurant and the top floor restaurant (Masi) were also decent. Masi is not that busy so it’s a great place to get a beautiful sunset view, and the menu has a few hits and a few misses. But the staff were great and so is the view.  The pool area is good for families, but is too busy on the weekends for someone to chill out and relax.  The room layouts are an effective use of space and were in good shape. The only thing to mention is the AC units. They are on a remote system that can cause some difficulty in setting up, and maintaining a set temperature is not really what they do. They are either on, or off. - Maintenance had to come twice to our unit to get us a new remote, as ours would frequently stop working. But they do cool the room, just with some operator frustration… The main complaint is the chemical / perfume smell  they flood the lobby and common areas with. I’m not someone who is scent sensitive - but the air is thick with an ‘air freshener’ scent that they blow throughout the lobby area. It will be off-putting to some.  Thankfully the rooms themselves are immune to this.  Cleaning staff do a great job, and overall they have a dedicated (if over-worked) support staff For the numbers of guests that they have. The rooms are quiet. We were able to sleep well throughout the night. No traffic noise, or other room noise and we were about halfway up the building.

The room is large, with a large balcony that overlooks the beach. The decoration is relatively old. Breakfast is a variety of breads and pastries, too sweet, and the grilled sausages are too salty. There is a private beach and swimming pool with a nice view. It is near a wealthy area with good security and many people outside at night.

The breakfast was delicious. Clean and pleasant. The rooms are cozy. The upper floors have a great sauna, pool, and relaxation area. We are happy. The rooms have hot showers and a pleasant atmosphere. Blankets and duvets

The room was unattractive. Drinks in the minibar were expensive. Only liquid soap was available. The toilet was very small, it looked like a child's toilet. The breakfast was nothing special.

The location is top-notch—right on Copacabana—with the highest pool on the 30th floor; unfortunately, the pool is very small, sometimes there are no towels; there are no changing rooms—showering and changing in the sauna is possible 😉 Recommended upgrade to super luxury, which includes breakfast in the restaurant on the 30th floor with a view of Copacabana—great. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi is a pain 🥹 constantly having to reconnect—much cheaper hotels can do better 🙄

The hotel is stunning. The room has panoramic windows, is spacious, and so comfortable that I didn't even want to leave. The breakfast was disappointing; the chef's custom-made meal was completely inedible. The service was also very disappointing, as the hotel management ignored my birthday—a first for me.

The room was a bit smaller than expected. While there's a rooftop bar and a pool, they weren't particularly spacious for a hotel of this size. However, it was very clean overall, and the service was excellent.

As you can see in the photo, the air conditioning in the room was an old model and was in need of maintenance. It was making a terrible intermittent noise. I was glad that I had been switched rooms, but the other one had another problem. Although it had modern air conditioning, it faced the street, where there is a bar next door. Even at two in the morning, there was a group of people in the corner of the bar drinking and yelling continuously at the highest volume possible. Even though I was on the fourth floor, kept everything closed and put my cell phone on to play white noise, I could still hear them. I had to use headphones. In any case, I had a terrible night's sleep. The breakfast was good and the staff were polite. The room looks old, but it is very tidy and perfectly adequate in terms of physical structure, except for the air conditioning. If the hotel would take care of the peace and quiet around it (by calling the police, for example) and maintain the air conditioning, it would be a great hotel. But if I could, I would choose another place.

AAndreiaWonderful hotel, spacious, clean, airy room, with a balcony facing the street, very attractive, super comfortable beds, super cold air conditioning, strong and warm shower, bedspreads available, TOP pool, large and beautiful on the terrace with a super cool view, and super plentiful and delicious breakfast, I highly recommend the hotel and will definitely return.

GGuest UserReally lovely hotel in a nice part of Rio. Staff are really friendly and helpful, especially as I speak English and everyone else is speaking Portuguese. The room was lovely and clean and the cleaners came here everyday to freshen up the room, put fresh towels in the bathroom and change the sheets. The pool was lovely and very quiet which made the experience much better. I didn’t have breakfast at the hotel very much but the one day that I did, there was a good variety of food. Can’t fault this hotel, very pleasant and would definitely stay here again.

GGuest UserWe booked two rooms with the hotel: a junior suite and a standard. The suite was very spacious and opened up to the street. The windows did a good job of blocking sound so the street didn’t disturb our sleep at night. They had a parking garage that charges R$33 per day and was able to accommodate our Jeep Commander. What is warranting this poor review was the hotel staff. Upon check-in they had informed us that one of our rooms wasn’t paid for even though i had already been charged by the booking agency. He said that we had opted for pay later and they hadn’t received the payment from the booking agency. I told them that my card had been charged by the booking agency but he insisted that it was likely a hold on the card to secure the room. I’d suggested to call the booking agency but he insisted that it wouldn’t be necessary (he didn’t seem worried so I assumed he had experience with this). Come to find that I was charged twice for this room and the booking agency has been trying to get in contact with the hotel for over a week with no response. This seems like FRAUD. The second issue. Upon checkout of our suite, the lady checking us out requested a gratuity payment for the included breakfast… she estimated that based on the value of their breakfast that the suggested 10% gratuity would come out to R$180 per person. That would make their self-service breakfast be valued hire than Michelin restaurants in the area. She tried to ask the other party that was traveling with us but when I came closer she gave up. I’m wondering if this is hotel policy or if the staff at this hotel are actually running scams from the front desk. I am still trying to get a hold of them about the double charge.

GGuest UserThe hotel has a nice location on the beach, but the property could do with some updates. The first room I went into had a funny smell, so I reported it to reception. The male receptionist looked at me, and as if he doubted my word After I insisted, he assigned me a new room, but it was left to me to move my luggage. . No support was offered and I couldn’t be bothered to ask. I did ask if there would be any complimentary water put in the room. He said he would get housekeeping to put some water, but I’m still waiting two days later. Power outlets in the room are limited and not designed for modern travel. No USB points. The TV is old and not smart or Internet connected. There are no cable channels so nearly all of the channels are local language apart from one CNN news channel in English.. The hotel is quite noisy and dogs. The walls are thin and guests scrape furniture across the marble floors. This is relatively easy to remedy if the hotel cared. The rooftop pool was disappointing as it’s quite small and normally full of kids. The restaurant is closed after breakfast. There is a bar, but it’s never open.. The biggest problem I had was the Internet. It did not work properly in my room and kept cutting out every few minutes. I had to stand in the corridor or come down to the lobby in order to get any decent coverage. I complained to the staff, but they did nothing and just told me it works.. This was extremely frustrating and I certainly wouldn’t come back to this hotel again.

GGuest UserIf it weren't for the general manager Temborarli and Julia, I would have given it all 1's, but in the last 3 hours of my birthday, they managed to save the situation. I flew to Brazil alone to celebrate my 40th birthday and chose one of the most expensive hotels - JW Marriot, thinking that it was a cool hotel. But no. I didn't get any service or amenities, having paid a lot of money. I arrived at 10 pm (that is, the whole day was already lost, I did not live in the room) I had to live the night and 1 next day. My birthday! I go to the reception, tell them that I came to you to celebrate my birthday, I am a member of the Marriott program and have already spent more than $5,000 on your hotels in the first month of the year (I show the receptionist and explain that my birthday is coming up in 2 hours, my birthday is coming up), but (!) they put me in a room on the third floor, where you can’t open the curtains (!), because people are constantly walking past to use the elevator!! Even in the middle of the night! They are rumbling and making noise. Upset, I return to the reception and ask them to help me somehow with this situation. At the same time, I see that the room is dirty! Even the sheets are dirty!! An unpleasant man says, ”You have this room category, King room. I can't do anything. Well, I can find a higher floor.” (Was it too much to give it to him right away? A higher floor and a room not on the passage, where you can't even open the curtains, why should I run and ask!!!??? I already asked once: pay attention, it's my birthday. A birthday on which they give gifts and make surprises, congratulate!!! But apparently he is a completely incomprehensible person. (To whom I wish that no one congratulates him on his birthday this year). Then he offers me ”if you want, you can PAY EXTRA and move to another room with a different view” !!!!! I say: I DON'T WANT TO and leave. (I also wish this man a trip to another continent, the earth's hemisphere, alone, where he pays for everything, for everything himself!) My birthday is in the morning, I sleep terribly, there is no soundproofing, noises begin from 6 am ... and until the evening, until 7 pm I don't get a piece of cake, a card, nothing. (Although then I moved to the Fairmont hotel, where the waiters sang a Happy Birthday song to the birthday boy so heartily at breakfast!!! So never choose Marriott for your birthday!!! They will treat you very badly!!) I always travel for my birthday, I have already celebrated it more than 20 times in different parts of the world and in different hotels, and for the first time I encountered that I need to beg for something and remind you that it is your birthday!!! At the very end of the birthday, at 7 pm, I go to the reception and ask to call the general manager to say everything that I think about JW Marriott. Well, here Timberly moves me for 1 night to a room on a high floor with a sea view. For which I am very grateful to her. And for which I give high points in the review. And that guy who regretted upgrading so that the person would wake up happy on his birthday and continue spending money in the Marriot Bonvoy chain, and not wake up broken at 6 am because it sounded like someone was washing in his bathtub (because in that room on the 3rd floor there was unreal soundproofing, no soundproofing!!!!) I hope he will be fired!!!

GGuest UserMy first room had the worst stains on the chair and sofa. No way should this room been allowed for check in. I booked a queen bed apartment and was moved to a. Double bed room with a view as trade. I was tired and could not be bothered to argue. There was an apology by the checkin staff. The breakfast is average (I came from Salvador where breakfast was amazing). Housekeeping and services were good - all the ladies were nice and pleasant. The bed had one pillow and the sheets had holes. There was no spare blanket in the room and the duvet provided was not the best so it got cold on a few nights and was too hot on others. Shower facilities were good but no skin lotion in the room which was fine as I had my own. No free water in the room only the minibar too - had to go to ibis hotel next door at like 2am to buy stuff there …both hotels are linked Generally the stay was mediocre and the area does not have anything to do. It is ok and central for Uber which was a bonus. Would I stay there again - hardly likely Would I challenge that I am owed money as the room I paid for is not what I was given - may do …if I have the energy Hopefully Novotel would reach out to me before that happens Images below

GGuest UserHotel with a privileged location, in front of Inga beach and close to the Icarai neighborhood. Hotel with a high standard style and services to match. Very varied breakfast. In my opinion, the best hotel in Niterói in terms of quality and comfort. However, the price is more expensive but in line with the service.
