This hotel has a corporate vibe, with good proximity to a less busy beach than Copa or Ipanema. The amenities are decent, the rooms are small-ish but clean. Both the main restaurant and the top floor restaurant (Masi) were also decent. Masi is not that busy so it’s a great place to get a beautiful sunset view, and the menu has a few hits and a few misses. But the staff were great and so is the view.
The pool area is good for families, but is too busy on the weekends for someone to chill out and relax.
The room layouts are an effective use of space and were in good shape. The only thing to mention is the AC units. They are on a remote system that can cause some difficulty in setting up, and maintaining a set temperature is not really what they do. They are either on, or off. - Maintenance had to come twice to our unit to get us a new remote, as ours would frequently stop working. But they do cool the room, just with some operator frustration…
The main complaint is the chemical / perfume smell they flood the lobby and common areas with. I’m not someone who is scent sensitive - but the air is thick with an ‘air freshener’ scent that they blow throughout the lobby area. It will be off-putting to some. Thankfully the rooms themselves are immune to this.
Cleaning staff do a great job, and overall they have a dedicated (if over-worked) support staff
For the numbers of guests that they have.
The rooms are quiet. We were able to sleep well throughout the night. No traffic noise, or other room noise and we were about halfway up the building.

This property has the potential to be amazing, but it needs a few key updates. The location is fabulous, the staff is excellent, and the restaurant is great both in terms of service and food quality.
The room was spacious, and the balcony was unbeatable. If you only speak English, you can get by staying here because all of the staff speak excellent English. We encountered a problem when the showerhead broke off, but the repairman came reasonably quickly to replace it, and he was very polite and not disruptive. We ordered room service, and Dom Rio, the hotel’s restaurant, delivered it quickly. I had the filet which was cooked properly to the correct temperature (medium rare). My fiancé had the alfredo pasta which she liked a lot. The breakfast had a huge selection, and everything tasted good.
The only thing keeping this hotel from earning top marks is the general state of much of the decor in the rooms. The curtains look shabby and dirty from moisture, and the wood of the cabinets is warped also. It is very hard to maintain a room that is constantly exposed to salt water and ocean breeze, but the materials chosen have not stood up to age.
I would recommend staying here if you are interested in staying in Barra at a nice but reasonably priced hotel, but don’t expect the finest luxury. Expect a very large, fairly clean room with a comfortable bed and an amazing view.

The upper floors have a great sauna, pool, and relaxation area. We are happy.
The rooms have hot showers and a pleasant atmosphere.

The room was unattractive. Drinks in the minibar were expensive. Only liquid soap was available. The toilet was very small, it looked like a child's toilet. The breakfast was nothing special.

The location is top-notch—right on Copacabana—with the highest pool on the 30th floor; unfortunately, the pool is very small, sometimes there are no towels; there are no changing rooms—showering and changing in the sauna is possible 😉 Recommended upgrade to super luxury, which includes breakfast in the restaurant on the 30th floor with a view of Copacabana—great. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi is a pain 🥹 constantly having to reconnect—much cheaper hotels can do better 🙄

The hotel is stunning. The room has panoramic windows, is spacious, and so comfortable that I didn't even want to leave. The breakfast was disappointing; the chef's custom-made meal was completely inedible. The service was also very disappointing, as the hotel management ignored my birthday—a first for me.

I lost a fly so with the free day my option was to get one hotel in the Barra Area , this because made easy the transportation in between the international airport and the city.
Nice Hotel for Holliday or weekend
As you can see in the photo, the air conditioning in the room was an old model and was in need of maintenance. It was making a terrible intermittent noise. I was glad that I had been switched rooms, but the other one had another problem. Although it had modern air conditioning, it faced the street, where there is a bar next door. Even at two in the morning, there was a group of people in the corner of the bar drinking and yelling continuously at the highest volume possible. Even though I was on the fourth floor, kept everything closed and put my cell phone on to play white noise, I could still hear them. I had to use headphones. In any case, I had a terrible night's sleep. The breakfast was good and the staff were polite. The room looks old, but it is very tidy and perfectly adequate in terms of physical structure, except for the air conditioning. If the hotel would take care of the peace and quiet around it (by calling the police, for example) and maintain the air conditioning, it would be a great hotel. But if I could, I would choose another place.

Wonderful hotel, spacious, clean, airy room, with a balcony facing the street, very attractive, super comfortable beds, super cold air conditioning, strong and warm shower, bedspreads available, TOP pool, large and beautiful on the terrace with a super cool view, and super plentiful and delicious breakfast, I highly recommend the hotel and will definitely return.

Really lovely hotel in a nice part of Rio. Staff are really friendly and helpful, especially as I speak English and everyone else is speaking Portuguese. The room was lovely and clean and the cleaners came here everyday to freshen up the room, put fresh towels in the bathroom and change the sheets. The pool was lovely and very quiet which made the experience much better. I didn’t have breakfast at the hotel very much but the one day that I did, there was a good variety of food. Can’t fault this hotel, very pleasant and would definitely stay here again.
I booked JW Marriott Copacabana because, surprisingly, the price wasn’t much higher than nearby 3–4 star hotels. The location is truly premium, right on Copacabana Beach and the rooftop overlooks the entire beach, which is a huge plus. My room faced the inside of the building, so I had to keep the curtains closed the whole time for privacy, which made the room quite dark. That said, the room itself was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Staff were generally nice, but everything felt quite slow check-in, check-out, room service requests, and even housekeeping. Breakfast was good in quality but exactly the same every day. Getting a table in the morning was also frustratingly slow; at one point around 10 people were waiting, and it took about 10 minutes just to be seated. The rooftop views are amazing, but the design is honestly very awkward and outdated. The pool is at the back with almost no view, when it could easily have been a stunning infinity pool. The bar area felt cheap, and the thick glass panels and wide columns made it hard to enjoy the view or take good photos. The whole rooftop design felt very old-fashioned. Overall, the hotel feels stuck in time. It’s a bit sad, because with such an incredible location, a modern renovation could easily make this one of the best hotels in the world. For the price I paid, I was still satisfied, but it definitely didn’t feel like a true luxury experience.
This is one of the best hotels that I have been to in the Rio de janerio metro area. The architecture is amazing and proof that in a tropical climate like Rio de janerio corridor can be cool without AC devices. The ground floor and away from the lobby to downstairs is very well designed. The biggest disadvantage of the hotel are the dirty chairs in the breakfast hall, balcony windows do not move as it should be, and the bath is not clean as it should be in 4 star hotel but generally speaking the hotel is very good. Recommend
