Japanese-Western Meal at Restaurant Q

Restaurant Q is quite the hidden gem, located away from the main touristy areas and tucked in a residential neighbourhood. The closest train station is Uguisudani, one stop away from the bustling Ueno station on the JR Yamanote line. Walk down a hill and down a street, and you will find a cozy little restaurant on the second floor up a narrow flight of stairs. The bright orange booths and decorations give it retro vibes, with walls plastered with handwritten menus and autographs from what I would assume are famous people. It is a one woman show here as the lady boss takes your order and whips up a comforting and delicious Japanese-Western meal. Skip the limited English menu and go for the JPY990 set as shown in the picture, where you get to choose 2 mains. From online reviews, I went with the Hamburg and Cream Crab Croquette and it was the right choice. The hamburg was really soft and tender, flavourful in that demi glaze sauce. The croquettes were really packed and creamy.
