Kyoto, Japan｜Yakitori that makes you come back again and again

Although our stay in Kyoto was short, we enjoyed every meal there. One of the meals we had was at Wabi-ya Koryokudo, located in Hanami-koji. The shop has been in business for over 20 years and specializes in stone pot Oyakodon for lunch and exquisite local chicken dishes for dinner. The shop also has its own chicken farm, and the local chicken raised in the beautiful mountains and waters of Kyoto is guaranteed to be of high quality. The reservation for the day was for the first round of dinner on Monday. When we arrived at 17:30, the seats were already full. There was only one set menu for dinner, and you could choose whether to have wine with it or not. It only cost 4800 yen to add 7 wines tailor-made for the set menu. In fact, the CP value is quite high, but since the next itinerary was all about drinking, we didn’t add the wine. 🙈 Each skewer of yakitori in the set menu is of very high quality, and some are even amazing, but the kamameshi is slightly not to my personal taste. In addition, the shop also prepared 5 homemade seasoning powders for everyone, namely yuzu, miso, sansho, curry and medicinal flavor, but I personally think the original flavor is already very exciting. 🐓Three flavors of appetizer They are medicinal porridge, wild vegetable tofu soup and clear chicken soup, which tend to be light to clear the taste buds. 🐓Roasted chicken thighs The chicken skin was very crispy, the gravy was very rich, the meat was soft and a little elastic, and I chose to order more at the end👍🏻 🐓Roasted chicken neck Because the chicken neck rotates frequently, the fat and lean meat are intertwined and the meat is very refreshing and the gravy is also very rich. 🐓Chicken Heart The texture remains soft even when cooked through, and the chicken flavor is very strong. 🐓Roasted wild vegetables with cheese sauce Several wild vegetables with different tastes were cooked to perfection, and served with cheese sauce to add more aroma. 🐓Stuffed Chicken Wings When I first saw stuffed chicken wings, I thought it was a joke, but I realized my mistake later. The skin was cooked extremely crispy without any burning, and the stuffing was vegetarian wings and the tender boneless meat. The gravy absorbed by the vegetarian wings was the icing on the cake. 🐓Chicken Meatball Burger There are a total of 2 chicken meatballs for everyone to make mini burgers. The meatballs are rich in gravy with a slight charcoal aroma. They are paired with green onions, cheese, pickles and salad dressing to make Kyoto burgers that are also full of flavor. 🐓Roasted chicken breast It is not overcooked or tough at all, the skin is very crispy and the meat is juicy enough to overflow. 🐓 Thick chicken soup The chicken soup in the middle is very rich and gives you a full taste of the essence. 🐓Roasted chicken kidney The meat is plump, crispy and has no smell at all. 🐓Roasted chicken with green onions The meat is tender and the juice adds a salty flavor. The green onions absorb the juice, which is another kind of enjoyment. 🐓Duck meat stick with moon Unexpectedly, the last skewer was duck meat sticks, and even more unexpectedly, it was immersed in moong primrose juice heated in a stone pot. The moong primrose juice became more concentrated and rich after being heated in the stone pot, and also added a burnt aroma. Accompanied by egg paste, it was a unique dish. 🐓Kamameshi The rice is cooked with strong-flavored wild vegetables, yam and minced chicken, and it tastes like risotto.
