Don Rak Allied War Cemetery or "United Nations Military Cemetery" or what Kanchanaburi people generally call "British Cemetery" is a large cemetery on an area of ​​17 rai, containing the bodies of prisoners of war who died during the construction of the Death Railway, totaling 6,982 graves. 300 prisoners of war died of cholera and were buried at Nike Camp (about 15 kilometers before reaching the Three Pagodas Pass). The rest were from the burial pits of prisoners of war in various camps. There is also the Chong Kai Cemetery, which the Thai government and the Allies agreed on August 24, 1954 to build these two cemeteries. The atmosphere in the cemetery is quiet and shady. The interior is decorated in an orderly and beautiful manner. Above every grave is a brass plate inscribed with the name, age, and country of the deceased. The last line is a sad mourning.
