Shuiyue Sacred Realm - Jiangyin Junshan Temple

Jiangyin 'Junshan Temple', also known as 'Qianming Guangfu Zen Temple', was first built during the Southern Tang period. It flourished during the Song and Yuan periods and is the most famous and prosperous temple in Jiangyin. Located on Junshan, 'Junshan Temple' was relocated and rebuilt in 1993 and is reputed as 'the first jungle across the river'. In front of the mountain gate of 'Junshan Temple', there is a unique Danbi stone, which I had never seen in any other temple before; the Thousand-Hand Guanyin enshrined in the mountain gate hall is also distinctive, with four statues standing back to back. Climbing up the steps, there are successively the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Mahavira Hall, the Guanyin Hall, and the Dizang Hall... 'Yuantong Pavilion' (Sutra Pavilion) is the highest building in Junshan Temple, located at the top of Junshan. It is praised as 'the first pavilion at the end of the Yangtze River and the head of the sea' and is also a landmark of Jiangyin. Completed in 2015, it is extremely magnificent. The southern platform has a pool of water, reflecting and complementing the lotus flowers, creating a 'Shuiyue Sacred Realm'. Inside the Yuantong Pavilion, Guanyin Bodhisattva is enshrined, with a splendid starry sky above the head; outside the tall building, there are four more Guanyin statues facing in four directions, protecting the land and people below. Standing on the platform of Yuantong Pavilion, one can look far into the Yangtze River and overlook the cityscape of Jiangyin.
