Hiroshima, a meaningful travel story that made me feel the value of peace

#July Travel Support Fund Hiroshima was the city that left the deepest impressions during my trip to Japan. It is a place of painful history, but at the same time, the warm spaces that convey the message of peace were impressive. First, I visited the Peace Memorial Park and the Atomic Bomb Dome. The Atomic Bomb Dome, which still retains the scars of war, stands quietly but resonates strongly, and the Peace Memorial Museum displays records and relics from that time, which made my heart feel heavy. The peace monuments and paper cranes placed throughout the park gave me the feeling of wishing for hope and peace. After that, I took a boat to Miyajima. The red torii of Itsukushima Shrine, which seemed to float on the sea, was truly spectacular, and the scenery changing with the tide was mystical. Deer roamed freely around the shrine, creating a quiet yet warm atmosphere. Hiroshima was also famous for its gourmet food. The Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, baked in multiple layers, was really delicious with the combination of noodles, vegetables, and seafood, and the fresh Hiroshima oyster dish was soft and light. Lastly, I stopped by Hiroshima Castle. Although the castle was restored after the war, the surrounding scenery and the quiet feeling were nice, and I was able to see another part of Hiroshima's history and culture through the exhibition inside the castle. Hiroshima is a city that remembers history and spreads peace, and it was a travel destination where you can enjoy nature, tradition, and gourmet food.
