Hiroshima: A Journey of Peace, History, and Nature

Hiroshima is a warm and serene city in western Japan. Despite its painful history, the city's efforts to convey a message of peace left a deep impression on me, making the entire trip a time of reflection. My first stop was the Peace Memorial Park and the Atomic Bomb Dome. The Atomic Bomb Dome stands as a stark reminder of the scars of war, and I found myself pausing in front of it. At the Peace Memorial Museum, I saw records and artifacts from that time, which weighed heavily on my heart but also reinforced the importance of ensuring such events never happen again. Next, I traveled to Miyajima, a must-visit destination near Hiroshima. As the ferry approached, the iconic red torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine appeared to float on the sea. The scenery changes dramatically with the tides, which was truly fascinating. Around the shrine, wild deer roamed freely, adding to the joy of the visit. Hiroshima's cuisine was another highlight. The Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, a savory pancake layered with noodles, vegetables, and seafood, was absolutely delicious. Seasonal oyster dishes were also fresh and flavorful. Lastly, I visited Hiroshima Castle. Although it was reconstructed after the war, its tranquil surroundings brought a sense of calm. The gardens around the castle were perfect for a leisurely stroll. Hiroshima is a city that remembers its history while promoting peace. It’s also a place where you can enjoy nature, tradition, and culinary delights. Once you visit, you’ll surely want to return.
