Joglo village of Subak Sok Wayah

When tired of the usual humdrum of the Ubud tourist traffic, there is always the choice to escape. Maybe by traversing along the narrow pavements leading to Campuhan, to the village of Subak Sok Wayah. Located in its quietude are cozy joglo restaurants and guest houses, surrounded by organic farms with animals such as chickens, geese, goats, and tortoises, and locally-grown tomatoes, long beans, pumpkins, pineapple and many other plants. Joglo is a Javanese word referring to the shape of the roofs of traditional Javanese houses, and sometimes the houses themselves. Greatly enhancing the easygoing vibe of the rice field villages, the joglos of this village are the best spots to experience the lazy sunset, while relaxing on the comfy floor and sipping on a cool drink. The weather is sunny until late afternoon, and then drizzling to pouring rain in the evenings. Especially in the monsoon season, it is imperative to exercise caution when traveling these areas because at this time, when it rains, it pours.
