This is like an apartment of other Hotel, there is no reception on this hotel. You have to get everything from the other hotel next to it.
this is Swiss Wooden Hotel, so simple and nice. It is not like hotel in the city. My room is big enough for 3. Just have a small table to eat but we mange it.
Shower is ok but it is too tall for my mom (she is 5ft 4 ) to climb in. She is old so she needs to sit 1st and climb in. there is left but still need to walk a bit stair with your luggage.........
You can ask the reception in the other hotel for hot water, hair dryer.
This is one of the only affordable options available in Zermatt but I’d recommend avoiding it. The property is at 45meter high which became a challenge to go up with luggage. Then when you reach there sadly i had opted for a 8 bed room which was on the 4th floor which didn’t have lift 🥲.
Then when i reached my room it turned out to a common tiny attic again entryway via another stairs with laid out communal style attached beds. It was so bad that if i extended both my arms i’d cover other people. You can imagine homeless people sleeping together.
The amenities are available outside and it has good breakfast and WiFi was my savior. If you are really on a budget choose something not the cheapest option here.
It was within walking distance from the station!
It felt more like an apartment than a hotel.
There was no front desk and check-in was done using a machine at the entrance.
You get a reservation number by email in advance,
enter it and pay the accommodation tax to enter, but it's a little difficult because they don't speak Japanese.
There is a kitchen in the room and all the necessary dishes, pots, and microwaves, so you can eat in your room!
The nearby supermarket closes around 8pm, so you might want to be careful!
I was grateful that there was a vending machine in the hotel.
The room was clean and there was a balcony and an ashtray so you could smoke outside.
However, check-out was by 11am,
but I was surprised when someone opened the door and came in at around 10:30am.
They apologized and closed the door immediately, but I wonder if it was a cleaning staff member?
It wasn't scary because we were a couple, but I think it would have been scary if I had been alone or if I was a woman.
The location was excellent, just near Zermatt Bahnhof and easily accessible from most places. The room came with a balcony overlooking the mountains, offering a stunning view — we even watched black neck sheep while enjoying our dinner and coffee.
The stay was comfortable overall, though note that no amenities like toothbrushes or shavers were provided. Breakfast offered a decent spread of continental options with limited hot food, but the croissants were especially commendable.
Hygiene is not up to standard, there are hairs on the bed. The spacer laid under the sheets was shorter than the mattress, making it uncomfortable to lie on. The quilt is very strange. The size of the quilt is very small and the quilt cover is not a set. The big bed is actually two beds pushed together with a slit in the middle. There are free drinks in the room refrigerator and a chocolate as a gift. The hotel provides round-trip pick-up service, but it can only go to the train station, and you have to bring your luggage to the train station. I want to go to the train station in advance to use this service, but it is not possible. It is really stubborn.
I was worried because there were many reviews about the room cleanliness and carpet, but
The floor was made of wood
and the bathroom was clean.
I traveled with my mom and was very satisfied.
I checked in late and had to call to confirm the check-in method..
And they kindly left a long guide at the reception, so I was very grateful.
I stayed at the cheapest price and I highly recommend it to those who are going nearby.
However, it was summer, not the season to go to the Leukerbad hot springs..
The road to Leukerbad was winding, so it was a difficult road for me, who was driving for the first time in a long time, not only for this hotel but also for those visiting the area.
The staff is very kind and nice. They upgraded me to a larger single room. Single room does not have the mountain view. The staff shows me where I can see Matterhorn with a map which is very clear. The room is also very clean. Love the hotel.
This hotel is absolutely amazing! It's the best B&B we've ever stayed in! The room is spacious, bright, and spotlessly clean. The windows on both sides offer views of the hotel garden and mountains, and the neighboring garden. My room's balcony faced the Matterhorn, allowing me to take photos of the golden sun setting over the mountain. The staff are warm and friendly, and they offer train station pickup. The toiletries are L'Occitane, and the little touches like the complimentary chocolates in the room and the complimentary fruit snacks in the lobby are heartwarming!
The hotel is very close to the Tasch train station, and it only takes 12 minutes to get to Zermatt. The hotel can store luggage, which is very convenient. If you have a good room in Zermatt, you can book here. The price is very affordable
In addition to the location is really difficult to reach, everything else is 100 points
The service is very good, very kind, the room is very neat and clean and dry and wet separation
It takes more than 10 minutes to walk to the nearest restaurants and supermarkets, and there will be a large slope from the station. It is not recommended for people with large suitcases.

GGuest user123Initially I was a bit apprehensive about this hotel based on reviews but it was a good stay!! Great value for Zermatt! Walking distance about 10 mins from Zermatt station, on shopping street. Toilets and stairway up a bit small but ok for us. Luckily we were located on first floor so didn’t have to climb up too many stairs with our luggage. There’s a pizzeria below. Things to note: didn’t see a bin ( only a small one in toilet) so maybe bring your own plastic bag for a bin as well as room slippers.
Place was clean! However there’s some loud music that played even in the wee hours of the night like 3am, so if you are a light sleeper, you might need to put on some ear plugs to muffle the noise out. Nonetheless, A huge thank you for the stay. Convenient, Breakfast was awesome, simple spread but very heartwarming and the coffee was the most delicious I’ve had. It was the Easter weekend so there’s pretty Easter eggs for breakfast too! The lady owner was lovely and check in and check out was very easy and seamless. We stayed for a night and would recommend this place.

GGuest UserHands down, this was one of my absolute favorite places during my trip to Switzerland. Highly recommend if you're visiting Zermatt! Definitely make sure to book a room with a Matterhorn view. The breakfast was generally good, though it could have used a bit more fresh fruit. Plus, having a microwave and water dispenser in the basement was a great perk that helped us save money on bottled water.
GGuest UserKristiane checked us in, and out of the hotel. She's the most attentive person so far that I've met, among the hotels that I have stayed in. Not only that, she got our issues fixed within the day, with a good sense of humour. The hotel breakfast was above average, some selection of cheeses, ham, salami, yoghurt, and drinks dispensed from the machine. I chose this hotel as it was close to Zermatt Bahnhof, and I did not regret it. A relatively new hotel, with a faint smell of wood in the room. The heating in the room can be a wee bit stronger, it means the insulation is good while we tuned down the central heating throughout our stay when the external temp is subzero. It's a gorgeous hotel, I have a narrow window view of the Matterhorn. Not to mention that the hotel is right next to McDonald's and two coffee shops. Overall, it was a splendid experience for us staying at Derby. If you were guessing, this isn't a sponsored review. We were just very happy travellers.
TtomomeowLocation is at the far end of the town from the train station but there's free E bus around.
Check in is seamless as instruction is clear
No air-conditioning in the room as you can only open the windows to rely the cold wind

HHarmonickFor a truly memorable stay in Zermatt, look no further than the Traditional Julen Hotel. We travelled throughout Switzerland, and the view from our Matterhorn room was hands down the best we experienced. Waking up to that iconic peak every morning was simply breathtaking.
The service at the Julen is impeccable. The staff is incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to meet every need we had, making us feel truly welcome. Speaking of needs, be sure to grab a bite at their downstairs restaurant. The food is excellent, though the space is a little on the cozy (some might say claustrophobic) side. Don't let that deter you, though - the culinary experience is well worth it.
Overall, the Traditional Julen Hotel is a fantastic choice. Splurge on the Matterhorn room for an unforgettable view, and rest assured knowing you'll be taken care of by a truly exceptional team. Highly recommended!
XXiaolinyaoshunliLet's talk about the advantages first: a great view of the Matterhorn, you can see it from the terrace, and you can also see it when you have breakfast in the restaurant, the view is very good. The room is about 10 minutes' walk from the train station, and it's still a bit hard to drag the suitcase, but there is a free taxi when you check out and go to the station~
The other feeling is that the room is so small... There are few types of breakfast, especially after staying at sunstar, the difference in breakfast is a bit obvious. In addition, the main door is a bit difficult to find, you have to go up a few stairs and walk through a corridor to get there. I was so tired when I arrived in Zermatt that day, and it was painful to carry the luggage up the stairs.
In short, the recommendation index is three and a half stars.
NNYTravelsWe love the hotel and wished we could have stayed longer. The view from the balcony of our room gave us a clear view of the Matterhorn. The hotel is easily accessible from the Zermatt train station and the Town centre .
We loved the room allocated and found it extremely comfortable. We also enjoyed the sumptuous breakfast buffet which was pretty extensive.
Staff was really pleasant and helpful at all time. Our receptionist even escorted us to the room by stairs because their lift was not functional when we checked in.
The only regret was that we were unable to utilise the sauna and swimming pool facilities due to time constraints.
Will highly recommend the hotel to those who are looking for value for money stays whilst in Zermatt.
