Zhangye Shangjing Holiday Hotel Reviews

The hotel was great, conveniently located and the room was fantastic. The staff went above and beyond to help us as we couldn’t speak Chinese at all. Zhangye is a beautiful place with so many natural wonders around to see. I highly recommend.

The room was spacious and clean. The staff were very kind, polite and super helpful. We enjoyed our two nights stay here.

On baidu map, it says that from Zhangye railway station to the hotel is about 3 km but when actually navigating my way over while carrying a luggage, it was so much further than I'd expect because Zhnagye's road and traffic are quite chaotic. Many traffic lights aren't even in operation and there are quite a few (3 I think) t+junctions that pedestrian have to cross via the underpass. The cars doesn't quite obey the traffic lights, so be careful and cautious. For the hotel itself, it's definitely one of my favorite overall, out of my 3 hotel stays during my trip. According to the receptionist I was offered a room upgrade, so thank you! There were also lots of free treats evertime I cleared it, so thank you again! Love especially the red dates yogurt, it's definitely a must try (although they were 2-3days after expiry). I even went out to the grocery to get more! Regarding the amenities, the air conditioner works but can't be controlled. Tried setting temp to 5 degree Celsius (lowest settings) and 30 degree celcius (highest setting), both doesn't work. It seems like it is fixed to room temp +/- a few degrees based on the temp outdoor. One of the day I had sunburn and wanted to cool off but due to how the temp was determined, I have no choice but to sweat it out. Other than that, the tap water here had very visible residue that you can tell that it isn't clear, so I really recommend not using it for drinking water boiled or not. Aon my last day, I wanted to try the bathtub but when I turned on the tap, I had a shock. The water that came out was brown, so I cancelled my initial plan of using it for relaxation 😕. There is also a humidifier provided and I am super grateful for that, however the water ran out on the 2nd day and I can't seem to fill it up correctly. The toilet bowl is also a smart toilet bowl, but I didn't realized it after closer inspection while trying to find how to flush. Lastly, I was so looking forward to the stars celling but it's kinda sad that you can't turn it on on its own without having the other lights turned on as well. Which honestly defeats the purpose of having a star gazing celling.

The hotel room is very clean and spacious, located few minutes away from the gaotei station. Staff are attentive and friendly. They prepared lots of snacks in the room for us to enjoy. The stay was undoubtedly pleasant, highly recommended.

A very good tourist hotel. Not in city centre but located in a quiet community. Only 10 minutes drive to the centre and hire car fare is about 10 yuan. The room is spacious and breakfast is good. Free pick-up laundry service.

The hotel is very good, parking is convenient, the service is friendly, and the sanitation is clean. The room is spacious and cost-effective. It is worth it. The beef rice is delicious. I will come again next time

I rarely comment, but this time I can't stand it anymore. I booked this hotel when I drove along the Qinghai-Gansu Ring Road. The ratings of the attractions were quite high. Who knew that this was the beginning of cultivation, relying on the word "endurance"! Let's talk about the location of the hotel first. There was no clear guide sign, and it took me a long time to find it. When I checked in, there was only one person at the front desk, a square-faced lady. I didn't see the service at all. She had a sullen face throughout the whole process, as if I owed her a million. Her tone was stiff, and she didn't answer any questions. Forget it, I endured it. Maybe she was in a bad mood. When I got to the room, there were at least five holes burned by cigarette butts on the carpet, and the carpet stains were obvious. When I lifted the bed sheet, there was still a black spot, which was very disgusting. The rest was ok, and the room was very big, that's for sure. There was no cool breeze at all when the air conditioner was turned on. I called the front desk and was told that because the temperature difference between day and night in the northwest is large, for the health of the guests, the air conditioner was not turned on, only natural wind. Zhangye was 31 degrees that day, and the window could not be opened even when it was dusty outside. The room was like a steamer. Is the guest a **? Don't know how to turn on and off the air conditioner yourself? This is the most childish and ridiculous excuse I have ever seen. Finally, after negotiation, an air-conditioning fan was delivered. Forget it, I put up with it. Ctrip ordered a foot-washing bucket for foot bathing. It was delivered at 7 o'clock, and no one cared until I checked out. What? Did they deliver an artificial air humidifier? I called to ask for a pair of slippers at night, and it took half an hour to deliver. It was not delivered until I called again. With this kind of service, they still claim to be four diamonds? Ordinary express hotels would not be like this. At more than 7 o'clock the next morning, the decoration sound wake-up service was turned on. It was very effective. I got up immediately... and went to have breakfast. Not to mention how much food there was, the hotel actually allowed people to smoke in the restaurant. This is really speechless. I was supposed to stay for three days. Forget it, I can't put up with it anymore, let's change to another hotel. When I checked out, there was a leader-like person at the front desk who asked about the check-in experience. This was the first smiling face I saw when I entered the hotel. I said everything else was OK, but there was no air conditioning. She actually told me with a flattering face that there was! What was the explanation yesterday? No more arguments, no point, check out. I was upset and called Ctrip to complain. After negotiation, the hotel still refused to admit that there was no air conditioning or renovation! It was really ugly. This was the first time I saw such a hotel. Fortunately, Ctrip was trustworthy and gave me a discount coupon, which made up for my unhappy mood. So, I have to post this review. First, it is to expose the ugly face of the hotel. Second, it is to give Ctrip an affirmation. It is a good platform worth using. The bad hotel should stop bullying people as soon as possible!

We stayed at Shangjing when we traveled to Zhangye. We booked a parent-child room. The service was very good. They gave us snacks that the children liked and Tremella soup. The breakfast was quite rich. The service staff was quite enthusiastic. I will patronize it again next time.
