"It was a very delightful experience. I took my parents and daughter to the Blue Island. First of all, the location is very good. Also, the owner, George, is a very nice person and he takes good care of the small garden. In addition, I first came to Xiamen from Kunming, then rented a car to go to Nanping and Yongding to see the Tulou, and then went to Chaoshan to eat raw and pickled food. "This hotel is a very old mansion. It brings you back to the China of the 1900s, with a touch of nostalgia. Our room was big and comfortable. The front desk would contact you via WeChat to ask if you would like your room serviced daily. Room was comfortable and clean but bathroom cleanliness could be improved. Water drainage is slow. Some hooks for clothes in the bathroom would be good. Cleanliness of the compound, especially the rooftop could be improved. Access to this hotel is via some narrow lanes. Once you get your bearings, it is actually very easy to navigate the narrow lanes. Location is less than 10mins walk to Zhenhai metro station (Maternity & Child Care hospital exit) and also to the shops and ferry terminals. However, to go to Gulangyu island, you need to use the metro and go to the international cruise terminal to take the ferry. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and reckon it's value for money."
