Very grateful for the comfortable room arranged, which made me feel as warm and cozy as at home. Especially the thoughtful anniversary snacks prepared by the hotel were truly a delightful surprise. Such a considerate arrangement made this stay exceptionally memorable. This hotel exceeded our expectation! It is very near the Nohi Bus station and the JR Takayama station (3-5 min walk). Although we just stayed overnight, we had a memorable experience in Takayama Ouan. The hotel has a lot of freebies for their guests. They have a booth in the lobby where guests can get free brewed coffee, hot tea, and green lemon iced tea. They also provide free socks since the hotel have tatami flooring. What we also loved about this hotel is the onsen (separate public onsen for male and female, and 3 private onsen). They also have a freezer where guests can get free iced cream after bathing. During past 9 pm, they also have free ramen for their guests. The room is spacious, and the view from our window is also nice (the roads and establishments covered with snow). Aside from the free stuff and great amenities, we also appreciate the kind and friendly staff members. We accidentally lost the luggage claim tag (and we are willing to pay for it) but they didn't charge us anything. When we go back to Takayama, we will definitely stay here again.

Super convenient, the hotel is located two minute walk from Takayama station on the way it is fully covered so there’s no worry during a snowstorm like when I was there. Service was also amazing staff met the guest with a smile and when I didn’t have an umbrella, I was offered umbrellas for loan straightaway for free. The hotel also has its own Onsen and it was very convenient to see it crowdedness through the TV in your own room. There’s also a rest area where you can enjoy the view of Takayama from the top of the building and a foot spa for those who can’t do the full body hot spring which is very good for people.

This was our second stay in Takayama Residence and we love its proximity to the train station and its central location to town. Rooms are equipped with cooking facilities(great for cooking your Hida beef) and washer/dryer combo which made it easy for laundry. Only drawback is the lift which is rather small and only 1 to service 8 floors. Be prepared to wait at least 10min if you are checking out or in during those busy hours. There is no onsen in Takayama Residence but they do have an arrangement in Wat Hotel which is a 15min walk away...a rather long trek imo. Overall, it is a good location to stay in Takayama.

It's about 2-3 blocks away from JR Takayama Station. The hotel is right next to the main road and is easy to find. The hotel has a large bath. Moreover, it is only a few minutes' walk from Gaoshan Old Street, which is good.

Good location-if you want to visit Kamikochi. The hotel is just about about 500 meters away from Hirayu bus station. The bus ride (from Hirayu to Kamikochi is about 20 minutes. Hotel staffs are professional, are good in problem solving and friendly. After a walk at Kamikochi, you can relaxed with onsen. The breakfast and dinner are Japanese food (set menu) with good quality and yummy. The hotel also provides lots of freebies e.g. refreshment, noodles at 10.00 pm.

Nice, reasonable, comfy hotel. Room is simple, Japanese style but comfy. Mine was a bit dark on ground floor. Breakfast is in a box so no restaurant. Small single hot bath. Nice lobby to hang and have a free sake taste or beer. Nice touch. Close to old street walking areas if you want to shop a bit but nothing extensive. Easy access via a bus to other towns that are less touristy.

The hotel is about 500 meters from Takayama Jr Station and 800 meters from Chaoshi Old Street. It has a superior location and convenient transportation. The hotel staff is warm and thoughtful, the breakfast is rich and delicious, and you can soak in hot springs. It is my first time staying in a Japanese hotel. I feel novel and the experience is very good. I will choose to stay here again when I come to Takayama
