Hotel Kawaroku I booked the Hotel Kawaroku after discovering they have a new tower and therefore it may be under-rated due to the older reviews. I stayed for 2 nights in a New Main Tower Single (High Floor). My room (1316, on the 13th - top floor) was one of 2 rooms that faced North. It had a nice view over the rooftop to the Seto inland sea. It was peaceful to see the ferries coming and going. The hotel’s location could not be more perfect - 14 min walk south-east of Takamatsu station and a 4-min walk to Hyugomachi bus stop where you can catch the Airport Limousine bus to Takamatsu Airport. It is located at the North end of the downtown shopping and restaurant district within the Katahara machi shopping arcade. The room was new, modern, with a nice modern Japanese decor, though small even by Japan standards. Even the toilet was compact. However it was a corner room with 2 large windows and was well laid out which made it feel less cramped. There was a long desk, and plenty of electrical outlets including 3 right on the headboard. The bed was very comfortable and there was a pillow room on 1F where you can choose from many different types, if you want an extra pillow The room came with breakfast which was a Japanese-style buffet served from 6:30-9am, with an egg/omelette station made to order. The public bath is very nice - gender-separated men’s and women’s facilities include an indoor bath, change room with lockers, tea dispenser (hot or cold), sauna, showers and wash stations. You have to bring your own towels and toiletries from your room (except body wash, shampoo and conditioner, which are supplied). The relaxation lounge on the same floor (2F) is amazing with 12 massage chairs (mixed gender) and 3 private chairs (women only). All are complimentary except for 2 special chairs in the mixed gender area. I used a translation app for most of my communications since I speak little Japanese and staff spoke little English. This is not a luxury hotel but it is very high quality and amazing value, especially given all the amenities. I would highly recommend staying in a New Main Tower room.

It is a Hotel with quite very small rooms, but very great service. From Check-in to breakfast the staff was always going the extra mile to make me feel comfortable. On the second floor there is a very nice, clean and well decorated Onsen with a huge relax room. Everything was very clean and the breakfast choice was really good. The location is very close to shops and restaurants and you can find a 24h Minimart right at the lobby area. Great price/performance ratio.

Stayed for one night from July 26th. As of July 21st, there was no information on the website regarding early check-in, so I asked through the inquiry form on the website, "I will be staying on Friday. If I arrive early, is early check-in possible? Also, how much will it cost?" The next day, on July 22nd, I received the following response: "Thank you for your reservation. Early check-in is possible from 13:00, but it costs 1200 yen per hour. Please be careful on your way. Front desk." On July 26th, I went to the hotel around 13:45 and asked for early check-in. The woman at the front desk refused, saying, "Early check-in is not possible because you need to contact us in advance." Even though I had confirmed in advance to make the most of my time, I was refused. I went to check in again at 15:00, but there was no explanation of the welcome drink, the location and time of the large public bath, the amenities, the breakfast venue and time, or the time and method of check-out. This was my 4th or 5th stay and my first time staying in the new main tower, so I was really looking forward to it, but it was an extremely unpleasant trip.

I stayed here on a business trip. The front desk staff were very polite and helpful. The room was clean and I made an early reservation, so I was able to stay on the top floor (13th floor). There was a humidifier and everything was set up, but I didn't use the bathroom in the room, just used the large communal bath. It was conveniently available until 1:00am. The breakfast was substantial, with omelets and udon noodles cooked right in front of you, as well as a variety of breads and salads. It was good value for money, and the front desk had a great concierge service, so I would recommend this hotel for a comfortable stay.
