The bed, pillows, and blankets were incredibly soft and comfortable just like staying in a five-star hotel!
I’ve visited Chiang Mai many times, but I’ve never found such a great budget-friendly place like this before. It was my first time staying here, and I was truly impressed. The staff were very welcoming and attentive.
The location is super convenient, right in the heart of the city, and they even offer free coffee and drinks.
I’ll definitely recommend this place to my friends, and if I come back to Chiang Mai, I will absolutely stay here again!

Perfect place to stay before or after your flight to Chiang Mai.
Actually, it’s super cool to stay here longer! The building is very new, with a cozy design and homey touches. It’s also very clean. The owners are very accommodating and friendly. Housekeeping is always smiling and does an excellent job—this place is spotless.
It’s easy to find and not noisy at all. While you can hear the planes, it’s still quiet enough to get a good night’s sleep on the comfy bed. Each room has a small kitchen corner, but it’s a bit basic—there are only two forks and no good cups for coffee or tea. I’m sure the owners will improve this in the future.
The bathroom is great—modern and hot—with a Japanese (or maybe Chinese) style. It reminds us of our last visit to beautiful Japan. The internet is fast—5G speed.
If you have a car, parking is easy, with plenty of free spaces available. The price is good for the location and quality.
We highly recommend this place. Thank you, and best of luck with your business!

Pros
Friendly staff.
It feels like you're sleeping in a traditional Thai house.
Inexpensive.
Cons
The bathroom is shared.
You have to shower in the bathroom,
but one of the two bathrooms is too small.
The bathroom is old, so it's inconvenient to wash.
I chose this place because I was going to arrive at night and just sleep,
but it was interesting because I could feel the traditional Thai style!
It was old, but well-organized,
but the bathroom was inconvenient, so only my husband showered.
It's a good place to stay if you're going at night and just sleeping!

The hotel was great for the price. It’s a little far outside of the city center. You will definitely need transportation. I don’t recommend the motor bike rentals they suggest, as the price is double what you can find elsewhere. I specifically booked this hotel because it has balconies. I try to be a respectful smoker but they had signs stating that smoking isn’t permitted anywhere in the hotel. This is common a d why I booked a room with a balcony but they also had signs that smoking wasn’t allowed even on the balcony. I find this unreasonable. I chose not to obey that sign. I didn’t flaunt it and no one said anything.

Love this concept. The place is very clean and modern. Rooms are small, but not THAT small, perfect for solo travellers. They also have rooms with double beds, but I haven't seen them so I dunno if they are okay for couples. The bathroom is also clean. You can use the washing machines for 40baht (full cycle of 1h) and the drier for 10baht every 10 minutes, but it's very powerful. The location is great, by the night bazar, byt be aware that if there is a big match in the muay thai ring downstairs, it will get noisy until midnight. The people working there are helpful and kind.

Clean room, good location, lots of food and snacks around, both tourist and local shops, reasonable prices. Although it is in an alley, it is not lonely. // The room is clean, minimalist, simple, cute, on the 4th floor, spacious room, towels, air conditioner, soap and shampoo provided, large mirror to look at from the room is good, good natural light, okay mattress, good ventilation, not stuffy.
Good, worth the price.
Note
- No TV, hair dryer, refrigerator, kettle, work desk.
- At night, the noise from the road is quite loud, not party noise, but community noise and cars.

The location suited me and the accommodation was tidy and clean. All the staff are friendly and helpful as well. The only negative thing to say is that some of the staff have the memory of a goldfish - they ask you if you want your room cleaned but do nothing about it.

LLogan SolamanI recently stayed at October Hostel located in the vibrant Nimman area of Chiang Mai, and I must say, my experience was exceptional!
Location: The hostel's location is perfect for anyone looking to explore Chiang Mai. Nestled in the bustling Nimman neighborhood, it offers easy access to the city center and is just a short drive from the airport, making it incredibly convenient for travelers.
Host and Service: Mark, the hostel owner, was incredibly hospitable. From the moment I arrived, he made me feel welcome and was eager to share his knowledge of the city. His insights and tips on where to go and what to do in Chiang Mai greatly enhanced my experience.
Accommodations: The rooms at October Hostel are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. While I stayed in a standard room this time, I was tempted by the option to upgrade to a much larger room. Given the quality of my stay, I am definitely considering this upgrade on my next visit!
Overall Experience: I highly recommend October Hostel to anyone visiting Chiang Mai. Whether you’re a solo traveler or coming with friends, the combination of a great location, warm hospitality, and excellent facilities make this hostel a top choice.
Tip for Future Guests: Don’t hesitate to ask Mark for local recommendations – he truly knows the best spots in town!
Looking forward to my next stay at October Hostel, and I can’t wait to try out the larger room!

SShaaThaiiI have been here 1 time 2 nights. The room was clean and very quiet with 4 people in the room. The toilet in on second floor, my room is on third floor. All is fine and very safe, get in by keycard from main gate to inside and then use the keycard again for go up to the room. Recommend
RRobTheTravellerFirst I was a bit afraid because Slumber Hostel is a party hostel. And I am not a partyer. I care about my sleep.
I guess I was lucky because I was in a 4-bed dorm with very quiet people who also went to sleep pretty early. And it seemed that there were no parry people at all while I was there, I haven't heard a single sound of music/loud speakers in the night. It was perfect. (But they do warn you when you check in that you have to expect noise since it's a party hostel! So I guess sometimes it gets really noisy).
I really liked the hostel's design, it all looked very new and clean. That's a big plus!
Although they (strangely) don't provide blankets (you can rent one for 75 baht!), they did give me a free towel.
Also there isn't any free filtered water available, so they want you to purchase new bottles. Business.
They have a menu, which is extremely expensive (149 for a pancake for example). But given the cheap room rate (just over a 100 baht) it was really OK and I don't regret staying here. The location is also great! It's close to everything.
Sam at the reception was very friendly. Thank you!

JJacki LagiewkaThe Sabaidee was in the perfect location… everything was within walking distance or a short tuktuk ride. The overnight front desk girl was fantastic… she helped make phone calls for us, arranged for a toilet repair, and allowed us access to the employee bathrooms when the toilet repair took longer than expected (not the hotel’s fault when it busts at night and no repair places are open). None of the cons listed below are deal-breakers, and we would absolutely stay here again next time we come to Chiang Mai. 😁
Pros:
- fantastic location (Northern part of Old City)
- fantastic staff
- daily breakfast buffet
- gorgeous outdoor space
- tons of amazing restaurants nearby
- Super safe area
- free wifi
- 24-hour front desk
Cons:
- buildings in the area are close together so our room didn’t get much natural light
- the overhead lights in the room were aggressively bright, so I had to MacGyver a bed canopy so that I could lay in bed without triggering a migraine
- breakfast buffet is not veggie-friendly… every hot option had meat in it, and everything had eggs
- each person gets a separate wifi login that can only be used on one device at a time… so you can’t multitask (ex: laptop and phone)
- beds are typical Asian beds: very firm, and no “pillow top”… it wasn’t uncomfortable though and we slept well.

GGuest UserNice and clean little hotel in town. Easy for commute to many places. Friendly staff and restful tiny garden in the open-air area. Safety for stay, key-card system is available. Got the right kind of room that I requested for. Soft bed, blanket and clean towels. Need a little bit improve of free-drinking water. Totally like this location near small market and 7/11.
GGuest UserLoved my stay! Clean rooms, comfy bed, and friendly staff. Perfect location with great amenities. Breakfast was delicious. Only minor downside: [mention any issue, e.g., slow Wi-Fi]. Would definitely stay again!
AAdonis, MPH, MSCI recently stayed at The Residence Hotel in Chiang Mai, and it was a pleasant experience overall, especially for a three-star establishment. Here's a breakdown of my thoughts:
The hotel is conveniently located near some of Chiang Mai's main attractions, including the Night Bazaar and the Old City. It’s tucked away in a quieter part of town, which makes it ideal for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle while still being close to the action. Local shops and restaurants are within walking distance, which adds to its charm.
The rooms are clean and functional, though slightly outdated. The bed was comfortable, and the amenities provided were adequate—air conditioning, a mini-fridge, and complimentary bottled water. However, the décor could use a modern touch, and the bathroom, while clean, showed signs of wear. The Wi-Fi was reliable only in the room, which was a little uncomfortable to use lobby area to work or search the internet.
some staffs were not friendly due to the languages, most language uses are Thai. While the service wasn’t luxurious, it was warm and genuine, which added to the overall experience.
There’s also a simple breakfast available, which, while not extensive, featured fresh fruits, toast, and a few local dishes.
For the price, The Residence Hotel provides excellent value. It’s not a luxury stay, but it offers everything a traveler might need for a comfortable visit to Chiang Mai. The combination of its location, affordability, and lack friendly service makes it a solid choice for budget-conscious travelers.
The Residence Hotel is a good option if you’re looking for a budget-friendly and well-located place to stay in Chiang Mai. While it may not have the frills of higher-end accommodations, its clean rooms, lack of welcoming staff, and convenience make it worth considering for your next trip.
Would recommend for solo travelers and couples looking for a simple yet comfortable base to explore Chiang Mai!
