Spa Hotels in Koh Tao

We had an awful experience at the Seashell dive centre attached to the hotel, and are now out of pocket for 22,000 baht for courses that we couldn’t complete due to the behaviour of the centre manager. We booked and paid upfront for a day of fun dives and 2 AOW courses. After an awful experience where I became very cold and sick on the fun dives due to poor weather conditions and inappropriate kit, we asked to be refunded for the AOW or to wait until conditions were calmer. The manager said that we could not be refunded but could wait for calmer conditions and we extended our time by another week in order to wait for things to calm down. However, the following day we popped into the centre and the managers attitude was completely different, he was rude and difficult and following some very unpleasant interactions with him over the following few days, we took the decision to not go forward with the course. One of the instructors who witnessed the managers behaviour apologised on his behalf giving the excuse that he was in a bad mood as had broken up with his girlfriend ! It was evident that once he had our money, that he had no interest in delivering our course or providing any level of customer care. On the fun dive, kit was poor, with a thin shorty wetsuit provided that was not suitable for the weather conditions, no boots, fins that were too small as they didn’t have any other sizes. Our instructor however was dressed in a full wetsuit and boots etc as said he tends to get cold. There was no provision of snorkels despite PADI guidance stating that these are an essential piece of safety equipment and no basic first aid care / procedures provided for cold, sick customers. When we asked for snorkels, we were told that they are unnecessary and just get in the way. The manager has refused to give his name and diver number despite repeated requests which raises further alarm bells and he ignored all initial emails and messages. Finally, we received a response whereby he said that we had booked onto the course on 3 occasions and not attended. This was completely untrue as no date had been set for us to do it at all. The hotel (who we paid for the course) have not responded to any emails or messages in relation to our complaint and couldn’t have been less interested when I raised it with the reception staff at checkout. My advice is that if you go to Seashell hotel, please AVOID the dive centre. You might be ok if everything is straightforward and you get a good instructor, but if there is a problem then don’t expect any level of care or compassion. We had travelled to Koh Tao to do some fun dives and complete our AOW courses. Our experience at seashell dive centre has ruined our trip to this island. After some detective work, we have established that the dive centre managers name is Hasan Can Toker . I wonder what his reasons for hiding this are ! Again, not the actions of a professional and transparent dive centre manager. As for the hot

Not recommended to stay here. The room isn’t comfy enough to sleep. Air-condition was very noisy and the bathroom wasn’t working well. There are lot of staffs around but helpless. Only thing staff could do only says “Sorry”. They can’t fix anything cause management set the rule up very restricted. We have problem alot about the transfer car. It’s not cover the timing of ferry. Beach was nice. Food was okay. Better just to visit for sunbath. cause the tour boat will take you there anyway to see the turtle. Even we paid to stay there. They still asked you to pay for snockling anyway. Not worth it

A truly special place occupying an entire beach section of Koh Tao. The most amazing snorkeling right at the resort’s beach- felt so lucky to be able to just wake up and literally step down to the beach and see black tip sharks, TURTLES, and all sorts of huge fish. Truly magical. Restaurant on site is fantastic. Free yoga by amazing teachers. Staff are friendly - feels very much like a family run resort. Had a sea view room- spacious, with a beautiful balcony overlooking the ocean and a sunny reading nook. Would definitely recommend taking 2 or more nights here if you’re in Koh Tao.

First of all a few things 1) the beach is beautiful & lots of room on this bay to walk about / swim. Also the beach is super clean 2) on arrival I didn’t feel the hotel or hotel staff were that friendly. We were waiting to be checked in and instead of explaining the hotel procedures to me & my partner we had to wait till there was more people there and then it was explained in a group so didn’t feel as personal 3) the hotel restaurant was very overpriced & we had to wait ages for staff to acknowledge we were waiting. We did eventually walk over and ask for a menu, all the staff were standing about chatting which is fine but there was a lot of other customers waiting as well including ourselves 4) the rooms are very outdated and I have been to other hotels in Thailand in the same price range and the others were alot more Up to date. You can also hear the neighbours, we were kept up late due to the noise in other rooms ( due to thin walls) and a connecting room that the staff did not undisclosed. There was also no hooks to hang your towels after a shower. We booked a sea view however could hardly see the beach 5) there is a shuttle bus which is free and was really good. As the hotel is far away from other restaurants / bars Overall I would not stay more than one night and was glad I was only staying for one night. I would not recommend this hotel for someone going to koh tao

We splurged for a Deluxe Pavilion room, and it was absolutely stunning! We had a wraparound private balcony with stunning views of the marina and beach. Yes, this resort has a LOT of stairs, but it's because it was built into the hillside. Architecture integrates in the natural stone, which is really amazing. The pool is lovely with a bar that kicks off happy hour at 5pm. Food is delicious, including the breakfast (opt in for that - it's worth it!). The dive shop and marina are on property, which made diving every day so easy. The beach is filled with reefs and coral so easy to snorkel and see giant clams, reef fish, etc if you don't want to scuba dive. While the spa has a lovely space, our masseuses were not good, so go elsewhere for a Thai massage. Everyone we met was so helpful and courteous. Would definitely come back!

The Paradise Koh Tao Resort I was saying to my daughter how, for me, a 5 star hotel is not just about the quality of the room or building or the food or even the staff. It’s about the overall experience. Value for money, comfort, fun. We were met at the pier with our cases carried for us to a songthaews. We were met at the grand hotel by Koko who explained that there was a power cut. No electricity but he was smiling and so sincere it was not a problem for us. We were walked to our room by Koko and a colleague. They carried our cases. The room was just being finished with cleaning and we went into the massive room with a double and single bed. No AC because of power cut. It was funny with Koko explaining to us how it worked without being able to show us. My daughter and I then went to the pool which was absolutely amazing. We had the whole pool to ourselves for the afternoon. An elderly Thai couple came and we took some pictures for them. Then a German (or South African) couple. The pool and area was big enough that we weren’t in each others way. Able to relax, peace and have fun. We then ordered some ice cream and when the electricity came on we then ordered lunch; an omelette, a coconut chicken soup and red curry. It was absolutely delicious! (About 600BAHT). My daughter then showered and I had a bath on the balcony! Yes, a bath on the balcony, Bubbles bowing down the street. it was amazing! We then went down to the lobby and were driven free of charge into Koh Tao. We had a wonderful time in Koh Tao which is really alive again since covid. We then paid 500B for a cab back. We slept in the beautiful air conditioned room. The following morning we had breakfast (250B each) and were served again by Su (who was always helpful and smiling). There were other staff members (Myanmar) we didn’t get their names but thank you to them as well. Everyone was smiling, friendly, trying their best and running around for us. We then went on a snorkelling tour and when we came back went to our room which had been spotlessly cleaned with fresh towels etc. We then showered and went for dinner inside the restaurant because it was raining outside. For dinner we had Ka Pow (prawns/basil). Red Curry. Sweet and Sour Pork, coconut chicken soup (again). 4 drinks. It cost 870 Baht. The food at this place was probably the best of our entire trip. Unbelievably tasty I wanted to thank the chef. We then went and played a game of pool in the bar and then went back to the room and fell instantly asleep. The following morning a songthaews had been arranged for 8am to take us to the pier. The end! So, the night before we are at Suranthiya Koh Phangan and they are very similar. Only Suranthiya is about £350 per night and this place was about £40. I think in the 1990’s/2000’s this was Koh Tao’s Suranthiya. The place is a little bit old and weathered but it’s grand and fascinating with incredible view points and obvious history. The ambi

Nice pools and swim up bar. Staff are friendly. The room was very big which was great. There were a few maintenance issues but expected as this is an older hotel. The hand held wand in the shower did not work properly as you had to continue to hold the knob out to keep it running, the door to the bathroom did not open properly, and as there were twin beds, individual covers would have been better than one whole cover than barely reached to the edges of the two beds. We have a saying, ”as useless as a glass door in a toilet” ...there was actually a glass door in the toilet which means there is no privacy and no-one else can be in the bathroom. Even frosting on the glass would have been better. USB outlets would have helped. I would recommend a ground floor as there aren't any lifts. Aside from this, the water pressure was good, the air-conditioning was fantastic and the beds were comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again. I would recommend staying in this area as it is close to the pier and shops surrounding the pier and it's quiet. It is cheap to go into the town by taxi and enjoy your time there but come back to the quiet of this area. We liked your staff member called Trip, and we hope that he gets his cat back to the island soon.

Nice sunset view from our balcony and also from the terrace which can be used by anyone who stays here. Be aware it is a steep and narrow way up. If you plan on going around with your scooter and it's your first time on a scooter I wouldn't recommend it. In fact I wouldn't recommend to drive around this island if you're not comfortable on a scooter. The room was small but nice and cosy with practical amenities, like fridge, kettle and sandwich machine. The employees are kind and friendly. Room service can be done everyday if you want. They give complimentary water bottles.

Great villa, so peaceful and quiet but just a short ride away from the action. They give you a private phone to call and they can take you round the island (as part of the package) and answer your questions and help with anything you need. Food delivery options were amazing so even though you’re not super close to restaurants they can bring it to you. Clean with everything you need, coffee machine, microwave all kitchen utensils. They even left some beers in the fridge for us to drink :) thank you!
