"We arrived in the evening and it was raining a lot therefore we appreciated so much their free pick up from the train station to the hotel! The structure is simply beautiful and the owners are really kind. They gifted us of a local vinegar bottle, the rooms are simple but clean and the breakfast as well is nice. The position is strategic in the city centre of the old Pingyao. They allowed us to store our luggages on the day of the departure. We definitely recommend to stay here :)"

"Very beautiful guesthouse with amazing patios! Very nice owners! The lady can speak English and help book tours with a guide which helped us a lot. Breakfast available, both Chinese and continental. Very good location within the old city, close to one of the main streets. We loved our stay there and highly recommend this guesthouse!"

"The quaint B&B consists of two courtyards, which are simple and exquisite, and are very photogenic. Located in the center of the ancient city, it is quiet in the bustling city and convenient to go anywhere. There are restaurants, Hanfu shops, and coffee shops at the door, which are good for eating and taking pictures, and there are few people taking pictures in the courtyard and the scenery is beautiful. The hotel service is also very good, and the housekeeper Ningning is attentive and thoughtful, and the arrangements are very good."

"It's safe to say this was the best hotel in China so far (and I've been to many cities). They offer a free pickup service to and from the city gate, from where you can easily reach the train station using a taxi (around 20 RMB). The hotel is located in the center of the ancient city, which really boosts the great vibe it gives. The hotel buildings are very old but in fantastic shape (like built yesterday). It really feels amazing just walking to your room through the country yard. The whole staff was fluent in English and extremely welcoming and generous. The room itself was very spacious and tremendously clean. It had all amenities needed like a heating and cooling AC, exclusive wifi router. The bath had extra shoes and even a hairdryer. We got fresh toothbrushes and toothpaste. The bath tub is also amazing and the rain shower has great temperature (which is important to me, as I don't like fiddling with the water mixer). If you plan to stay in Pingyao (ancient city) I can wholeheartedly recommend this place and will definitely book it again for my next trip to pingyao."

"It was Women's Day, and it was another Saturday and Sunday. My wife and I took a break from our busy schedule to visit Pingyao Ancient City. We booked this hotel online. From the moment we booked, the hotel manager contacted us. Meeting us at the high-speed rail station was a pleasant surprise. We also gave my wife flowers for Women's Day (though I hadn't already given her one) and a beautiful jewelry box as a souvenir. This stay was absolutely perfect! The service was impeccable, from the front desk to the housekeeping staff. The rooms were spacious and bright, well-equipped, and the bedding was soft and comfortable. The hotel's location is also fantastic (right in the heart of the ancient city). Both the amenities and the service were top-notch. Every detail was meticulously thought out, and they were always ready to help. (The tour ended at 10:30 PM, and the hotel manager was waiting ten minutes early to take us back to the hotel.) It was an impeccable stay and I highly recommend it to any discerning traveler! This hotel completely exceeded my expectations!"

"Great location, quiet neighborhood but not far from the center. The room is clean , comfortable and has the atmosphere of an old traditional home. It is the service that needs significant improvement to warrant the current four star rating.  The price was for two people and yet, there was one tea bag per person, a very small roll of toilet paper and the facial tissue bixes were almost empty. The breakfast was no better: ine boiled egg, a small bun, a bowl of sweet porridge and a tiny slice (about one tenth) of a sweet potato and a root vegetable, with a tiny portion of pickled cabbage. For a mainland B&B well below standard. What’s more, the old nan who was on duty in the morning would pick up dirt from the floor while handling food with bare hands and had trouble finding toilet paper in the storage room while I waited outside in freezing weather. The host is friendly and helped with orientation and organizing transfers to the railway station, so with little improvement in service this could be a good choice for Pingyao."

"I compared many hotels online and chose this one. After placing my order, a housekeeper contacted me. The pick-up and drop-off service was fantastic. I didn't even have to carry my luggage; the front desk guy helped me along the way. Everyone else was incredibly welcoming, making it feel like home. The hotel's setting is an antique courtyard house, giving it a time-travel feel and a sense of history. The room amenities and cleanliness were excellent. Xiaodu turned off the lights and curtains, and the room also had an automatic toilet, a humidifier, and a small refrigerator (with free drinks). Breakfast was buffet-style with a wide variety, and the beef, bowl tray, and kuoluoluo were delicious. The location is just over 100 meters from Ming and Qing Street, making it very convenient for commuting. I'd definitely stay there again!"

"Location was great, walking distance to everywhere within ancient town. Hotel buildings were historical and so beautiful that we felt very lucky. Hotel crew were kind and helpful, they also provided a free pick up and drop of for the train station. Our rooms were decorated traditionally and were both facing a historical inner court yard, which was just wonderful. We also enjoyed the show during the dinner at the big authentic theater."

"Because of my infinite yearning for the original style of the inner house in the ancient city, I finally chose Yide Inn, which was transformed from the former residence of Hou Wangbin. As the name suggests, it gave me a unique accommodation experience. Old photos are hung on the walls of the inn, comparing the appearance of this place in the past hundred years - eaves and bricks and tiles, but the scenery is almost the same as in the photos. The staff of the inn gently told the story behind the restoration of this ancient house - it is about the power of perseverance, respect and inheritance. It is not easy to preserve the ancient buildings intact. It is necessary to preserve the original style and improve the accommodation experience. The owner's design is still eye-catching. Living here, I deeply feel the precious ingenuity. Although the reserved time is a bit short, I walked into Yide Inn and realized the awe and inheritance of traditional culture. The ingenuity in design and the meticulous service make this experience a meaningful exploration - when the persimmons in the backyard are ripe in late autumn, I must come again."

Location Perfectly situated in a quiet area away from the crowds of the main tourist sites, the hotel offered a peaceful sanctuary after long days of exploring. The silence and calm added to the authenticity of the experience, as if we had truly stepped into another era. Design & Atmosphere The preservation of the original architecture and layout of the academy was breathtaking. Every detail of the hotel—from the wooden beams to the stone pathways—exuded historical charm. The sense of place was so strong that it felt like we were emperors transported back in time. Room We stayed in the Shuyuan Canopy Bed Suite, which was immaculate and exquisitely designed. The amenities were thoughtfully curated, blending modern convenience with traditional elegance. The canopy bed was a highlight, evoking a luxurious, regal atmosphere. We were particularly touched by the high-quality tea sets provided, which allowed us to enjoy our own private tea time in the comfort of the room. Service From the moment we arrived, the staff were exceptional—always smiling, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. Free transportation from the train station was a seamless and much-appreciated touch that set the tone for the rest of our stay. Facilities Every facility was carefully maintained and contributed to the overall harmony of the space. The hotel’s attention to detail extended to every corner, making for a deeply enriching and relaxing experience. Breakfast The only area with room for improvement was the breakfast. Served in a traditional 9-bowl box, it lacked variety and felt more like a school meal than a luxury experience. We would have loved more choices and the ability to select our dishes instead of receiving a pre-chosen set. With an upgraded breakfast service, this hotel would truly be flawless. Final Thoughts This stay was one of the most unique and memorable travel experiences we've ever had. A perfect blend of heritage, hospitality, and comfort. We would return in a heartbeat—and next time, hopefully with a breakfast experience to match the rest of the hotel’s excellence."
