Location Perfectly situated in a quiet area away from the crowds of the main tourist sites, the hotel offered a peaceful sanctuary after long days of exploring. The silence and calm added to the authenticity of the experience, as if we had truly stepped into another era. Design & Atmosphere The preservation of the original architecture and layout of the academy was breathtaking. Every detail of the hotel—from the wooden beams to the stone pathways—exuded historical charm. The sense of place was so strong that it felt like we were emperors transported back in time. Room We stayed in the Shuyuan Canopy Bed Suite, which was immaculate and exquisitely designed. The amenities were thoughtfully curated, blending modern convenience with traditional elegance. The canopy bed was a highlight, evoking a luxurious, regal atmosphere. We were particularly touched by the high-quality tea sets provided, which allowed us to enjoy our own private tea time in the comfort of the room. Service From the moment we arrived, the staff were exceptional—always smiling, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. Free transportation from the train station was a seamless and much-appreciated touch that set the tone for the rest of our stay. Facilities Every facility was carefully maintained and contributed to the overall harmony of the space. The hotel’s attention to detail extended to every corner, making for a deeply enriching and relaxing experience. Breakfast The only area with room for improvement was the breakfast. Served in a traditional 9-bowl box, it lacked variety and felt more like a school meal than a luxury experience. We would have loved more choices and the ability to select our dishes instead of receiving a pre-chosen set. With an upgraded breakfast service, this hotel would truly be flawless. Final Thoughts This stay was one of the most unique and memorable travel experiences we've ever had. A perfect blend of heritage, hospitality, and comfort. We would return in a heartbeat—and next time, hopefully with a breakfast experience to match the rest of the hotel’s excellence.

Luxurious hotel with great rooms. Breakfast was very extensive and enjoyable. Staff is very friendly with helping to find good restaurants and to enjoy your stay as much as possible. Do keep in mind that the hotel is about 2 kilometers from the ancient city center of Pingyao.

The service was very good. After arriving at the parking lot, we contacted the hotel and they arranged a car to pick us up. We didn't have to walk for a long time with our luggage. They also told us what must-see attractions there were in the ancient city and gave us a map (the map was really useful later. There were too many people on May 1st, and the phone couldn't connect to the Internet at all. We really relied on the most primitive map to find the place!!!) The location of the hotel is also very good. It doesn't take long to walk to South Street. It's very convenient for eating and shopping Each room also comes with afternoon tea. Taiwu cakes and stone cakes are delicious. There are also many local specialties for breakfast, including knife-cut noodles and baked grandma, which are delicious The room is quite comfortable and clean. There are disposable slippers and bath slippers. Although there is no TV, there is a projector and you can choose channels to watch. It's just that I feel that Xiaodu is a little hard of hearing. If you call Xiaodu Xiaodu in a slightly lower voice, he will ignore you 🙂↔️

The house is a Qing Dynasty folk house. The transformation into a hotel is very ingenious, maintaining the historical and cultural style of the building itself. The interior decoration is in the new Chinese modern style, making it very comfortable to live in. The rooms are smart and equipped with mineral water, smart toilets, and exquisite tea sets, which shows the care of the inn owner. The hotel also gave away some discount coupons for dining, and the recommended restaurants were delicious and affordable. There was a small gift when I finally left, and I felt that the room fee was well worth it. It is really a very high-end hotel!

The hotel is in a good location, walking distance from the east gate of the city. It is a large hotel with spacious and clean rooms. Most importantly, the staff at the reception were very helpful. They gave us travel information, arranged a car to take us to the train station, and contacted a clothes rental shop for us. Even though there were many guests during our stay, the hotel still opened a buffet breakfast for our group. The only bad thing was that when I first entered the room, I saw a pile of hair in the toilet bowl. The housekeeper probably took it out of the bathroom grate and put it in the toilet bowl but didn't flush it. Also, when I was about to take a shower, there was no shower gel in the bottle. They should have checked before the guests checked in. I called the reception, but no one answered, so I called the housekeeping department.

The hotel is very distinctive. It is a large courtyard with seven entrances and seven exits. It is relatively large in the ancient city. The location is also very good. Before departure, I carefully selected the hotel online and through live streams. Song Sheng Chang Inn is a truly wonderful place, with a unique five-story courtyard, clean and quiet. The staff were incredibly welcoming, offering shuttle service for check-in and check-out. They explained the itinerary attentively and gave us a special gift before leaving. The restaurant nearby also had delicious food and a discount. The travel photography we collaborated with was also excellent. Staying here was the perfect choice for me, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Pingyao.

The stay was just perfect 😍 it started with a pre-message on WeChat to organize the smooth pickup from the railway station. After that we had a very warm and friendly welcome at the hotel. The environment and the yard are so cozy, quiet and beautiful. The room itself was very lovely and super clean. All important things were available. A perfect mix of modern luxury and ancient architecture. The WeChat service was available all the time and responded very quickly, staff was amazingly friendly. The breakfast was pretty good and tasty, didn’t except such a delicious breakfast in a “small” city. Better than many 5 star hotels. Checkout was smooth and transfer back to the train station well organized in advanced. Nothing to complain about. Highly recommended! Thanks to all the stuff for this great experience.
