This hotel is in a very good location for walking to different tourist destinations.  There is the food street nearby, I would say about 5 minutes walk. The shops are open until very late at night, even around 10 pm there were people on the street eating.  Also nearby are the big malls Mix C. It's about a 15 minute drive from the 小公園 tourist hotspot. So our itinerary was to go from the railway station to the small park first and walk around and eat there. Then take a rest at the hotel and then go to the food street area.  The service at the hotel was excellent. The breakfast was great and had lots of selection. There was a noodle station. There was a congee station and tofu station. There were lots of western choices as well. At night apparently there is some free congee but we were too full to try it.  The rooms were well laid out and had all the items you would need such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, etc. The staff around the whole hotel were well trained and very friendly. Everyone was helpful and would greet you. The cleanliness was very good and much better than other similar level hotels.  I would live here again on my next trip to Shantou.

In comparison, I have to complain again about the Chaozhou internet celebrity homestay I stayed in the past two days-Zhoushang.13. I spent 2800+, twice the price of Yongping Hotel, to book a room. The expectation I reported before departure was also the highest, but the experience was really bad. It was expensive and the service was bad. It was no different from the homestay I booked in Nan'ao for 1700, but their room had a bathtub and a sea view, and the sea view was unbeatable. The housekeeper of Room 13 was even rude. I really don't know where so many good reviews came from. I guess they were all posted by someone. Although it claims to be very close to the Guangji Bridge, once the bridge is demolished, there is no way to go back to the hotel after dinner in the ancient city. You can only take a taxi and make a big detour to cross the river. It looks close to the scenic spot, but in fact, the transportation is very inconvenient after the bridge is demolished. Sisters who go to Chaoshan to play remember to avoid that popular homestay. The pictures on the Internet are seriously inconsistent with the actual experience. I never want to go to Chaozhou again...Shantou is much better planned than Chaozhou

My usual stay in Shantou is International Hotel although older but is exceptionally good . This time we decided to try out the newly opened Hampton by Hilton and we were very impressed with its use of latest technology eg : contactless card key which gives direct access to the floor level that one is staying with a swipe of card and prompt response from the housekeeping with the use of robot delivery. The front office staff are very helpful and informative and they helped us to book Didi to our destination when there are no taxis available. The breakfast is varied and good. Of course I still prefer the breakfast at the revolving restaurant on top of International Hotel
