Amazing Family Stay at MGM Hotel! We recently stayed as a family in one of the villas at the MGM Hotel, and it was truly an exceptional experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so warm and welcome. Every detail was taken care of, and the service was top-notch. The housekeepers were meticulous, ensuring our villa was always spotless and comfortable. A special mention to the staff at Neera restaurant—Lukas, Mark, and the lovely female restaurant manager went above and beyond to make sure we were well-fed and that our kids had the best time. Their attention and genuine care made every meal memorable. The buggy rides were a highlight, thanks to Aiger, who made them so fun and engaging for the whole family! And we can’t thank Miko enough— she owas always ready to help with anything we needed, making our stay seamless and stress-free. This was a perfect family getaway, and we can’t wait to return. As always Sunshine Resort in Sanya is like a home always from home...but with better cooking :) From the warm welcome from Vanessa at the front desk...to all the cleaners, wait staff and pool staff..you are treated as a valued visitor. It is great to see the extra loung chairs at the pool and on the property above the beach and chairs and umbrellas on the beach...well done. A big benefit is the newly developed bosrdwalk that goes the entire lenght of the beach with plenty of food and drink. Also....although I do not have kids here..they always have entertainment on the holidays for the young ones. I will always return the the special...”Sunshine” in Sanya

The view is partially very beautiful (except for the extremely ugly buildings below and around the hotel). The location isn't directly on the beach but it's very close. Very nice location. It's close to all the shops as well. The facilities are nice, however, the bath robes I had were extremely worn, frayed and haggard. I definitely would not keep it in any hotel. The TV and bedside light were broken. These things should be easy to fix? I was in one of the more expensive rooms. This is just negligence and easily avoidable by the hotel. Customer service is very delightful. They did offer me free snacks and drinks upon arriving, in order to give more time to prepare the room. The snacks and fruit are in the photo. That was nice. I also came back to the hotel one day to find a birthday cake in my room. Quite delicious and very thoughtful. I really appreciated that. Very good gesture, thank you! If the price was cheaper I would go there again. However, there are better hotels around for this price. Still, it's very nice.

It was my second time staying in this hotel. Both experiences were very good. They upgraded my room this time, I really appreciate that. The room was spacious and comfortable with sea-view and a private garden. The breakfast is very good, I recommend to include it in your booking. Check in and check out process is fast and easy.

There were definitely some positives and negatives about this hotel. First off, I will say the staff was very friendly. They would greet you with a smile wherever they saw you on property. I ate dinner at the poolside restaurant a few times and I enjoyed my food as well. Some negatives were that the hallway itself smelt moldy and nasty. Could be due to the carpeting, which was in bad condition, or all the old wood decor or a combo of both. My room smelt the same. The shower smelt like urine and some of the wood in the bathroom was rotting. I guess due to continuous exposure to water. I also didn’t like the fact that there was little accessibility for a stroller. Maybe I didn’t see it, but, to get down to the pool and most of the restaurants I only saw a staircase which was inconvenient to take my baby around. I did like the fact that it was right across the road from the beach, but, also somewhat far from the airport. Another positive is that they had a nice play area for the kids. My baby loved playing there. Everyone is different. Maybe you will enjoy this hotel. That is just a bit of my honest review.

Fifth time choosing this hotel while traveling to Sanya, used to come with friends, and now for business trips. The hotel has changed a lot over the years, and it was kinda going very low quality in terms of amenities and services few months ago. But they have made recent improvements, like the wooden deck that finally had been renovated and look nice and clean now. I was disappointed at first at my arrival since the staff was not welcoming at all, not even smiling or helping with luggages, but then Johnson took over and has been amazingly helpful! His English was great, and he upgraded my room for one with the nicest view over the pool and bay, which was really appreciated. Amber at the reception has also been a great host, great English and attitude, she helped me with my late check out. These two really made my stay better. Overall this hotel is always a good and quiet choice. Sadly they removed their western food options for the restaurant and room service, so not ideal for foreigners. But breakfast is good and got all the options. I’ll definitely come back, since to me it’s still one of the most beautiful hotel in the area, but hoping for some more improvements to take it back to the level it used to be.

The JW Marriott Hotel Sanya is truly an exceptional place to stay. The hotel's location is superb, offering breathtaking views of the mountains and the sea. The rooms are spacious, elegantly decorated, and extremely comfortable. The service is top-notch. The staff is friendly, professional, and always ready to assist with any request. The facilities are excellent, including a beautiful swimming pool and a well-equipped fitness center. The dining options are diverse and delicious. This hotel is a vestige of its former glory. It’s clean and tidy, but could use an upgrade. Facilities are ok, even though swimming pools are not all open. It’s quite disappointing and the hotel’s pictures do not represent the current conditions. Location is amazing, and while swimming in front of the hotel is technically forbidden, everybody does! Lots of nice restaurants nearby. Easy access to the beach (closer than most hotels in Yalong Bay). Budget friendly though so it might be worth it for the location. You’ve been warned!

The room was very nice and the view from the balcony was stunning. But there were multiple issues. It took them 40 minutes to check-in, at which time there were 2 power outages. The phone in my room didn’t work, and there were issues with scanning the room service QR code. There was left over food in my fridge also. There is also the issue of false advertising regarding the infinity pool which is non-existent. To top it all off, at 01:00, the fire alarm went off in my room for no reason. The staff are very nice, particularly Harry the lifeguard who went out of his way on multiple occasions to help me when I injured my finger. The issue regarding a lack of English speakers in SanYa is true.

Staying at the Howard Johnson Resort was a lot of fun. The overall service was friendly and helpful but needed a foreign translator on staff. The location was perfect for traveling and staying close to the airport and beach. Several close stores. Several amenities were closed. Only one pool was open and the only western restaurant was closed. I would consider staying again in the future if more was open.
