Hotels in Zhanqiao/Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street, Qingdao

Pros: The hotel's location is fantastic – easily walkable from Qingdao Railway Station and directly adjacent to a vibrant pedestrian street with endless shopping and dining options. While the entrance is modest, the hotel houses a good number of rooms. We booked a twin room (one larger, one standard bed), and the complimentary toiletries were of decent quality. Service was pleasant, and breakfast offered a good selection. Breakfast is served at the dumpling restaurant next door, where we also had a delicious, value-for-money lunch – highly recommended! Cons: However, the room was quite small (think budget hotels like Home Inn). The bathroom was also cramped and felt like an afterthought, with an exceptionally loud toilet flush. You'll struggle to fully open even a 20-inch suitcase.

## Location: The location is incredibly convenient: just across the traffic light from the Zhongshan Road subway station exit, right on the main street. Taxis are also easy to hail. With public transport (bus and subway) right at the doorstep, getting anywhere is effortless. Zhanqiao Pier is also within walking distance, and the stroll there is quite pleasant, allowing you to admire the architecture and browse the small shops along the way. Just a heads-up, during hot weather, it's wise to stay cool. ## Environment: The courtyard itself is very quiet. Surrounding it are many small shops, accessible through a back gate from the courtyard – just knock and you can step right in to explore them, which was a fantastic feature. We'd read reviews suggesting ground-floor rooms are more convenient, so we booked one. However, the garden-style courtyard made it a bit challenging to wheel our luggage. But the front desk staff (the young gentlemen, in particular) were incredibly helpful, always carrying our bags in and out. Our suitcases were quite heavy, so we were truly grateful for their assistance! ## Stay Experience: The bedding was quite comfortable, although the pillows were a bit too soft. It would be ideal to have both a soft and a slightly firmer pillow option to cater to different preferences. The air conditioning kept the room refreshingly cool, but it seemed to lack a dehumidifier function (or we couldn't find it), making the room feel a bit too damp. Clothes hung out in the courtyard took a while to dry, but having a washing machine to pre-spin them helped a bit. Each room has its own private courtyard perfect for tea and conversation; on hot days, we simply moved our tea setup just outside our door, which was equally pleasant. We did notice a slight odor in the bathroom, but after mentioning it to the front desk, they promptly cleaned it again for us. Overall, our stay was very enjoyable, and we would definitely choose this place again on our next visit to Qingdao. The people of Shandong are genuinely warm, friendly, and talkative – they never showed any signs of annoyance, which we truly appreciated!

The room was spotless and well-equipped, featuring a charming retro-style courtyard design. Most importantly, it's located right on Shangjieli Pedestrian Street, which I consider Qingdao's best spot for photos, shopping, and soaking in the local vibe (Yinyu Lane is close but doesn't compare). As soon as you step out, you're surrounded by various small shops, so you'll have no trouble finding food, drinks, or entertainment. Don't bother booking breakfast with your room; there are plenty of breakfast options right across the street. You're also right on the famous Zhongshan Road. The Cathedral is just a short walk away, and if you head south for about 800 meters, you'll reach Zhanqiao Pier, perfect for playing in the sand by the sea. On your way back, a seafood meal at '1937' is highly recommended and truly satisfying. The hotel also has a designated, very convenient parking lot, just about a 5-minute walk away. For day two, if you plan to drive to Badaguan, simply search for 'Badaguan Scenic Area Taipingjiao 1st Road Ground Parking Lot' for convenient parking. From there, you can walk along the coast directly to Huashi Lou (Flower Stone Building) and then explore the area's other attractions at your leisure.

We were upgraded to the family room which was very spacious and we appreciated it. The hotel is located right next to the subway exit and is near attractions like the cathedral and also the pier. However, cleanliness and housekeeping were a bit of a problem. When we first checked-in, we found stains on the blanket cover. We informed the hotel staff and it was replaced immediately. We stayed a total of 3 nights and realised no cleaning was done on the second day. The housekeeper just placed new towels and tea bags in our room but did not clean anything. When we first checked-in, the shampoo, conditioner and body shampoo which were all in big containers were close to finishing. We did not inform the staff as we thought they would replace it on the second day. However, they were not topped up or replaced even until the day we checked out, so we had to use our own supplies on the last day. On day 3, we indicated that we wanted house-keeping, so our room was finally cleaned. We dropped something and was looking for it, thus saw that the bottom of the beds were dirty and dusty. It's just that this is a 'luxury boutique hotel' according to the description so we were expecting a higher standard of cleanliness and service.

The hotel is newly opened and boasts spacious rooms. I particularly appreciated the separate toilet and shower areas. The complimentary popcorn and coffee in the first-floor lobby were a thoughtful touch, making my stay very comfortable. Its location is excellent, very close to Zhongshan Road, and within walking distance of Zhanqiao Pier and the church. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming; we even received a lovely welcome gift upon check-in, which was a truly thoughtful gesture. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to my friends. The hotel is incredibly popular; it gets fully booked by afternoon each day, so you'll need to book several days in advance to secure a room. Overall, a perfect 5-star recommendation!

This is a really charming hostel, converted from a century-old building, with lovely common areas. The location is superb, right near Zhongshan Road Metro Station (Line 1) and close to the Dabao Island Historic and Cultural Block, making many old town attractions easily reachable on foot. Getting to the beach or seaside is also a breeze, with a very convenient bus stop for route 228 just around the corner. Given that traffic can be an issue in the old town, the metro and bus options near the hostel absolutely covered all my transportation needs during my 3-day stay in Qingdao. Dining is also very convenient; the hostel's own restaurant serves delicious meals, and it's easy to grab a coffee. Plus, there's a variety of dining establishments nearby, and food delivery can be brought to the front desk for pick-up. While the nearby Dabao Island themed post office offers souvenir stamps (requires a purchase and doesn't have postmarks), I'd highly recommend walking a bit further to the Guangxi Road Post Office Branch instead, where you can get stamps for free and they even have three different postmarks available!

I really hit the jackpot with this hotel for my Qingdao trip! The hotel's location is superb – very close to Qingdao Station, making it super easy even with luggage. Plus, there's a bus stop right outside, which is convenient for getting anywhere. It's also a renovated old German-style building, and stepping inside felt like a journey back in time. The room's details truly impressed me! From the vintage telephone by the bed and the sheet music decor on the walls, to the spacious room, large, soft bed, and even a smart toilet – everything made for an incredibly comfortable stay.

Facilities: The room was exceptionally clean and well-maintained. The butler service was very attentive and thoughtful. Hygiene: Spotlessly clean, the temperature was perfect, and there were no unpleasant odors. The soundproofing was also excellent. Environment: The traffic getting here was incredibly congested, so I'd strongly advise against driving. A heads-up about peak times to avoid would have been really helpful. Qinyu Road Instagrammable Couple's Afternoon Coffee & Cake: Both the cake and coffee were of excellent quality, truly great from presentation to taste. However, the service attitude wasn't as good as what you'd find at a guesthouse. When verifying our room number, the staff quickly scanned one page and immediately claimed they couldn't find our booking, despite it being on the very next page. They came across as quite impatient and unprofessional. Nevertheless, the ambiance and the food quality were excellent, and the breakfast was also delicious.

Cleanliness: The hotel was quite clean and well-maintained. Service: The hotel service was excellent. It was very convenient for receiving food deliveries and parcels, which the staff even brought directly to my room. Environment: The courtyard was lovely, with the only minor drawback being a few too many mosquitoes. Regarding the soundproofing issues some others reported, I personally didn't experience any; I found it to be normal and conducive to a good night's rest. The place is incredibly photogenic, and ladies who love photography will absolutely adore it. Facilities: The hotel doesn't offer breakfast, but there's a cafe right outside the entrance that serves excellent cakes. You'll find plenty of dining options within a 300-400 meter walk. It's also conveniently located within a 10-minute walk of two metro lines. Due to its status as an older, historic building, some room layouts might not be absolutely perfect, but if you've chosen to stay in a place with such character, these minor quirks are easily overlooked.

The room was super clean and tidy. Two cups of coffee and breakfast were provided. I didn't have breakfast because I had an exam. The service attitude was super good. The bedding was also very comfortable. I had a very good sleep. And there was a pier right outside. What a magical hotel.
