Quaint unique place to stay. Food was great! Nearby and accessible to attractions in nikko too. It's uphill so dont bring heavy luggage! There was service to the station so it was good. Room was large enough and comfortable with toilet, but bath is communal.

We purchased breakfast and dinner along with our room. It is much easier than trying to find a place to eat after a long day of sightseeing. Each night the dinner is different and delicious.

The food was sumptuous and amazing! The building had a historic feel to it, but it was well-maintained and clean. I thought it was a good point that there were separate toilets for men and women, as well as in the rooms. Nikko Toshogu Shrine was just a short walk away. It was autumn foliage season, so there were a lot of cars lined up, so I'm glad I chose this place!

I liked everything. The outdoor onsen is great. The food was delicious. There is also a shop in the ryokan, which is very convenient)

The room was so cold that I almost caught a cold. I asked the staff for a small heater and barely got through the night. The breakfast and dinner were very ordinary and did not match the price at all. All the dishes for dinner were served at once, without distinction, and the tempura was cold. The shower at Fenglu was an old-fashioned push-type water outlet, and the heating was not enough, which was another cold killer minefield. The only advantage is that the location is OK, and it is within walking distance of Toshogu Shrine and other places.

It is more than 2 kilometers away from Nikko Tobu Station. There are buses to Shinkyo Bridge. It takes about 10 minutes to walk after getting off the bus. I didn't take the bus, but walked from the station for half an hour. There are many slopes, especially after Shinkyo Bridge, there are steps all the way uphill, which is quite tiring. It should be good if you drive by yourself. It is very close to Toshogu Shrine, an 8-minute walk. Japanese-style rooms, with indoor and outdoor public baths (separate for men and women). The dinner and breakfast included in the room are amazing. Overall, it is worth experiencing.

A wonderful ryokan very close to the Nikko temples. In a few minutes you can walk to any place. Keisaki is an extremely interesting experience, the onsen is quite decent: two pools, indoor and outdoor. They greet you very warmly and see you off too. There is a lot of space in the room, the view from the windows is beautiful.

Very nice, old-fashioned hotel feel, great spa and meals. It's a bit far from the train station. When I went there, I called the service staff to pick it up, but when I went back to the train station, there was only one person guarding the lobby, so I called a taxi. It's not far, but it's a bit expensive. It is recommended to inquire with the hotel in advance or make an appointment for the pick-up service.

Staying at Nikko Tokanso for several days was a highlight of my trip to Nikko with my parents. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The hotel was a bit dated but I loved it, lots of charm. The rooms were exactly what I expected and very cozy. The onsen was nice and pretty empty when I went. The food was the best part. I had dinner and breakfast here and it was outstanding. The dinner changed every day and everything was fabulous. I loved my stay here. Highly recommend.

This is a traditional ryokan experience which is what we were looking for, been Japan afficionados. The breakfasts and dinner banquets were excellent and the ryokan was close to all shrines, temples , shops and the beautiful Nikko Bridge. The staff were very helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay.

It takes a lot of effort to walk up to Dongguanzhuang from Shenqiao. There are steps on the opposite side of Shenqiao, and then there is a small slope along the road. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to walk slowly. The decoration of the hotel is quite historical. Although it is old, it is clean. The Japanese-style room is spacious and comfortable. However, it was quite cold on the day of check-in and the heating was not enough. Fortunately, there was an electric blanket and the paper door in the front hall and entrance was closed, so I could finally withstand the cold; the bathroom in the room There is no heating in the toilet and it is impossible to take a shower in the bathroom of the room. Of course, the hot springs are separated for men and women. There are outdoor and indoor hot springs. The area is not large and the atmosphere of the outdoor hot springs is very good. It is of course a beautiful thing to soak in the hot springs in the snow! Dinner and breakfast were enjoyed in the restaurant, both of which were Japanese-style. Mainly set meals, although not luxurious dishes, but very rich; the breakfast also has Nikko's famous tofu and fresh yuba, which are very delicious! I am completely satisfied. Overall, I am very satisfied with my experience at Dongguanzhuang. The room rate is very reasonable. Another compliment is the front desk staff. They are older people, but they are courteous and courteous. Although their English is not very good, they try their best to help and give directions to the guests where they want to go. Thank you very much to them.
