The hotel garden is well maintained and you can watch the sunrise from the rooftop. You need luck to see the snow-capped mountains in the distance, as you can't see them when it's foggy.

After the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu we began to climb into the mountains. As the bus pulled ever harder around the hairpin bends, the vast Kathmandu Valley was spread below us with a magnificent sunset to top it off. Our sense of isolation was heightened by our final approach to the hotel up the steep, unlit driveway. However, we were met with a profusion of willing helpers as we were checked in and shown to our rooms. We’d lucked out with a massive room with wall to ceiling windows overlooking one of the terraces beyond which was the valley and the distant Himalayas. Being part of a group of 18, we appreciated that our dinner, chosen from an extensive menu, was served promptly and efficiently with everyone eating together. The next morning was a self-imposed early start for the showstopper that this area is deservedly famous for: the sunrise over the magnificent Himalayas. Whilst layers of cloud filled the valleys beneath us, the mountain range was mercifully clear and we were able to revel in the experience. Despite being in a group, the peace and tranquility pervaded the landscape making it almost a spiritual experience and easily the highlight of the entire tour. We later discovered that the entire mountain range had been blanketed in clouds for the previous 4-5 mornings: how lucky were we? That this hotel is so perfectly situated to enjoy these spectacular views is worthy in itself to return but it is a relaxing, friendly place with plenty of little seating areas and sunrooms from which to enjoy the views. Added to which are the tranquil gardens and numerous roof terraces.

Wonderful hotel at Nagarkot. The moment you step into it, quality is felt. Very tastefully decorated rooms and common areas. Views of the Himalayas from the hotel is just wow. Service is quick, breakfast fabulous, huge property to roam around and enjoy the surroundings. Liked our stay.

Although the staff are remarkable and friendly, the hotel is very dated with few amenities. It seemed like we were in a converted storage area right next to a fantastic viewing area on a rooftop. The room was basic, with a bed on wooden floorboards in a separate room (no tv and very patchy wifi) a lounge area with a daybed and a raised area opposite the fully glazed entrance. If you forgot to close the bathroom door properly, (situated just off the lounge area and raised) those enjoying the views of the himalaya from the roof, might also be treated to a view of you on the throne through the fully glazed entrance, as the door would regularly fall open. Likewise, closing the door properly and pulling across the shower curtain. The moon might often be glimpsed. Generally comfortable, dated and might prove challenging for people with mobility issues, as the are stairs everywhere.... But you go there for a chance to see an amazing panorama, and a moon if you peep. Unfortunately not available to us because of cloud

We stay for 1 day for group of 10 ppl . The hospitality and view and nature preservation of this place has touched my heart. People are so nice and gentle and hospitable. They served us with 5-10 dishes with so much love . Though it’s resort but they created such a harmony and balance with nature I haven’t seen anywhere . . I would love to visit it again very soon

This was a very good hotel with a touch of antiquity. The rooms were very spacious with all the necessities. The hotel decor was good and the external appearance had a heritage look. We were received, checked-in and the bags etc. transferred to our rooms very quickly. The staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful. The Reception area had a warm and friendly look with a show case full of books on the side. The food was excellent and tasty. A wide array of items were offered in the dinner and breakfast buffets. The service was efficient and excellent. Weather permitting. it has an excellent view of the Sunrise. You can sip a cup of tea, relax on chairs provided on the balcony, while you experience the splendor of the sunrise. All in all, a wonderful, heart warming and restful experience in this hotel.

The location, the view, the staff etc make this a great place to stay. Food was also really good and Roj who was overseeing the restaurant was really helpful as well. The room was spacious, clean and had amazing view. Our only regret was that we had stayed only for a night.

The resort is beautiful, giving a good feel of the place. The view from the hotel was amazing and sunrise view was excellent. The staff was courteous and took good care. The only minus was there was no phone in the room to connect to the reception so one had to walk down to speak to them. The reception was not staffed and there was no one to assist at 4.30 am

We are so lucky to stay here for the last night in Nepal. Of course it’s good property judged by every aspect but the most touching to me is The For Resort always responded our every special need and request immediately— A simple pack of food for the illness guests, a warm campfire for the welfare party etc. We can know whether a property is good enough only when guests have emergency or particular requests. Actually I don’t want to show my high recommendation of The Fort Resort because it will be more difficult to book, haha XD Thank you so much for the most sweet and wonderful service among my last 10 year traveling experience in Nepal.

The rating is predominantly for the setting and fantastic views over the Himalayas at sunrise from the pleasant gardens and grounds. The rooms are very spacious, clean and quiet and arranged to maximise the views. The room was not the warmest and the AC was not easy to work out although plenty of blankets were available. The open plan layout of the dining room, reception, lounge lent itself to being drafts and so the best seats in the restaurant were adjacent to the portable heaters. The a La carte option of chicken in a basket was straight from the freezer and the nuggets were barely edible. Stick to the buffet. That said, the restaurant staff were very pleasant and courteous.

Cozy, clean and spacious. Beautiful view and it was the perfect place to spend time with the family watching the Himalayan mountains. No TV aim the room which made our stay even better. I have been to other hotels in Nagarkot but this one was the best for my taste. The view is unbeatable.

We returned to The Fort Resort Nagerkot after 25 years to celebrate our Silver wedding anniversary and it couldn’t have been a better decision than this. We had had a wonderful stay at the Fort Resort in 1997 as part of our honeymoon and we had such fond memories of our stay here that we decided to return back to celebrate with our friends. Though we were saddened that the main building had been destroyed due to the earthquake a few years back, our stay in the cottages was wonderful this time. We had a lovely view of the entire mountain range right from our beds. The property in entirety is lovely in the midst of nature and the charm remains the same even after so many years which we can’t say of too many properties. The food was good, especially the Nepalese thali was enjoyed by all. The service by all the staff was absolutely par excellence. They all greeted us with a smile every time we bumped into them and were always around to ensure we got whatever we needed whenever it was. During the amazing sunrises from the roof top, even before we could ask for the hot cup of tea or coffee, Vikram or Roj would be there with hot pots of tea and coffee. Ganesh along with Vikram and Roz were always there to pamper us with all the kinds of food at the restaurants or when we spent time at the garden. Deepak at the reception was really helpful and smiling all the time. And Anil, the Manager in his quiet manner managed to provide for all whatever we needed through our stay there. All in all the entire team of staff were soft spoken and always ready to help silently and with a broad smile. The staff at The Fort genuinely made sure we had a perfect silver wedding anniversary and we will remember this through the rest of our life.

If you want to stay in Nagarkot this hotel is the best one. Very very beautiful unique garden and clean stylish cottage and bildings. Best view in all area for mountain watching with panoramic view. Helpful stuff. Food was okay. Highly recommended.
