What a disappointment. The worst value I have encountered in Madrid. Pros: This place is adjacent to the Puerta del Sol, which makes it convenient to the metro and other central places in Madrid. The room was very clean with AC and the balcony does look down on the street. It's surprisingly quiet considering the noisy street below. Communication was good after booking the room. Cons: The entry is dark (and scary, frankly), with garbage on the floor and a rickety elevator. Desk staff is not friendly or welcoming but will answer your questions if they can. We were promised help getting a taxi and then they didn't. Staff is noisy in the morning when they have a sign asking guests to respect others who may be trying to sleep. This is a sterile room with a bed, a bathroom, a tv, 2 tv trays, and 2 plastic chairs. I would advise you to keep looking if you are searching for charming, friendly and reasonably quiet. For 220 euros a night, you can do better.
