I stayed at Kaohsiung Papo Hotel during the holidays. Although the hotel has a great location, convenient transportation and abundant activities nearby, the overall experience was disappointing and far from what I expected from a hotel. The following are the details of my stay: Advantages: Excellent geographical location and convenient transportation The hotel is located next to Kaohsiung Port, with the artistic port area just outside the door. There are many activities and attractions around to add to the fun of travel. The transportation is very convenient and can be easily reached by taking the Kaohsiung Light Rail, which is a plus point for exploring the city. Disadvantages: Multiple issues seriously affect the stay experience Despite the great location, the following issues greatly reduced the stay experience: 1. Lack of room facilities and design flaws As soon as I entered the room, I found that the TV only supported streaming platforms such as Netflix, and I could not watch cable TV. It is puzzling that the hotel does not even provide basic cable TV. The bathroom design is even more problematic. There is no door on one side of the shower room. When taking a shower, water easily splashes out of the door, making the floor slippery. The washbasin is not deep enough, water splashes easily, and the design is obviously unreasonable. 2. The cleanliness is not ideal. The overall cleanliness of the room is not up to standard, especially the chairs on the terrace are filthy, obviously not cleaned for a long time, which makes people not want to use the terrace space at all. 3. Serious safety risks. The room on the lower floor where we stayed had no fence next to the terrace. Guests could easily step into the next room, and even outsiders could enter from the outside, posing a huge safety hazard. The fence is designed too low and can be stepped over with one foot. It does not take the safety of residents into consideration at all, which makes people feel uneasy. 4. The electronic system is inconvenient to operate. The hotel uses an electronic system for management, but the operating experience is poor and there is a lack of clear instructions or online teaching. For example, the electronic lock is extremely inconvenient to use, and the hotel did not clearly inform guests that a password is required for entry and exit, resulting in some guests being unable to enter smoothly, affecting their experience. 5. Inadequate service and response: The waiter’s attitude was average, not particularly friendly nor obviously bad, but lacked enthusiasm and professionalism. What is even more disappointing is that the hotel is unattended after 11pm, lacking night service and security, which is a major loss for guests. Summarize The location and transportation convenience of Kaohsiung Papu Waiting Station are undoubtedly the highlights, suitable for travelers who want to explore the Kaohsiung Port Area. However, problems such as defective facilities, poor cleanliness, safety hazards, inconvenient electronic systems and insufficient services seriously affect the stay experience, which is far from its "hotel" positioning. These negatives far outweigh the positives and I cannot recommend this hotel to other travelers. I hope the hotel can seriously review and improve its facilities and service quality to enhance the experience of future guests.
