2-Star Hotels in Ipoh

For the price that they charge, one should not expect much from the hotel. The room is of reasonable size, bed is comfortable. But both rooms we booked smelled of cigarettes. There is no tea/coffee making facility, although there is a water cooler outside the lift which dispenses hot and cold water. The bathroom is quite spacious but the hot water is just lukewarm. The lift was broken down and seemed that the management did not arrange for repair for some time. Sound proofing was bad. Reception was slow and check in took a long time. The hotel looked understaffed.

Nice to book if you want to stay less in hotel and travel more in city. Connectivity is good but no services available. For every small thing you need to go out and purchase the same.

Stay here, don't look at the hotel facade,they have great rooms and very clean. The hotel is just 10 minutes flat walk from Ipoh train station, although it is in the residential area but all the intersting place are within walking distance such as Concubine lane just five minutes walk, the night market just five minutes walk, the memory lane was behind the hotel. The lobby is always locked and you feel secure. You need your keycard to access the lobby and lift. There are few sitting area in lobby but enough space. The second floor are breakfast area. The room was clean, and bright as there are lights everywhere. There is complimentary coffee and tea, fridge and safety box. The bathroom is quite big and the water power was strong with hot water run constantly. There is not place to eat surrounding the hotel area except KFC and Pizza Hut at the left side of hotel (2 minutes walk). If you walk across the street from the lobby into a small lane,you will reach a traditional kopitiam that have plenty of choice to eat,they start at 6 morning until night. The kopitiam has dim sum, seafood noodles, char kue tiau, popiah (night time). Minimarket 7 Eleven just beside the hotel. Considering the affordable price and very centrally located, this hotel is the best option to stay in Ipoh.

Food is fabulous surrounding this neat & well maintained hotel. Staffs & Management was very courteous, friendly and hospitable. There is a 7-11 just a few steps away from this property with many ammeneties and personal items jyst in case you need. Not to mention the convenience of drinks, smokes & snacks if you need it midnight. Parking is very convenient right in front of the Hotel but municiple attendents starts summoning cars after 8am if you forget to pay for the Parking fees... Other than that, i will definitely choose This Hotel again Whenever i visit Ipoh city... Ohhh btw, there is a Nanyang Village Restaurant just opposite Lotus Mall nearby the hotel...food is fabulous and lobing owners Jim & Amy are very good chefs preparing such GOOD Breakfast & lunch... GOOD to pop by to Enjoy too😍😍😍😎🍭🍭🍭

- Comfortable stay. - Famous breakfast store (chang jiang coffee) in walking distance. - they using solar for water heater, initially we thought no water heater, but counter staffs are very helpful. - bed very comfortable - fast check in and check out

Wir waren für zwei Nächte in diesem Hostel was für Ipoh auch ausreichend ist. Das gesamte Hostel ist modern eingerichtet, sauber und gemütlich. Es gibt ein Terrasse einen Chillout Bereich und eine Küche in der es auch Kleinigkeiten zum Frühstück gibt. Die Angestellten sind sehr nett und helfen gern auch spontan bei einer Tour zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten. Aufgrund der Liebe der Malaysier zu lauten Autos und Autorennen war es etwas laut aber es gibt kostenlose Ohrstöpsel. Für das Preis Niveau ein Top Hostel.

A boutique hotel with good room rates. Room’s clean, has vinyl flooring and built-in carpentry is in rather good condition. Bed’s firm and basic toiletries are provided (toothbrush n paste, bath n shower). Clean bedlinens though the towel I had was old with few grey-black stains. Bathroom’s large but the water pressure is slightly Low (our room’s on the 1st level, with Recep at ground). There’s a dim sum restaurant just beside the hotel but we didn’t eat there. A larger food centre is just round the corner, 5-10mins wall away. Good and value for money place to stay even with no options for breakfast.

This hotel can be categorized as a budget hotel. Facilities provided basic facilities only. For travelers who prefer a clean and comfortable room is not suitable. The advantage of this hotel is close to the ipoh toll plaza.

I checked in a suite on Friday night and left on Saturday. The room was very beautiful and comfortable. The security was a bit strange and you have to swipe your room card at the elevator when you enter the room. The parking lot has CCTV. The staff is very friendly. There are many restaurants and food stalls around. It is also very close to the city center. Checked last Saturday night I stayed in a suite. Very nice and comfortable. OOD safe access, via room card in elevator. Parking on CCTV. Friendly staff. Many restaurants and food stalls nearby. Very close to the city center. The downside is that the suite I locked is facing the roundabout, and next to it is Courth Mammoth, very noisy. After midnight, you can hear a slight hammer sound from Courth Mammoth. The cleaning staff didn't clean very thoroughly and I also found uncomfortable things that previous guests had left in the room.

The purpose of this review aims to provide a true & fair view for all the travelers who are interested in booking with BELAKANG KONG HENG. I hope the management can take this feedback into serious consideration & take any necessary actions. We have arrived at 9.20pm & aware that it has way past the check-in hour. There was no one was at the counter to attend to us the moment we arrived. So we made a call to ask for help. The staff, Andy picked up the call & started to rant about our late arrival as if we’ve committed a very serious mistake & there’s no solution to it. We couldn’t help as the traffic was terrible & we were really tired after the long drive so we asked for solution. The next moment he instructed us to go to the mailbox right next to the gate to get our room keys. I mean he could have just skip the ranting & blaming part & tell us straight that the key is just right at the mailbox. Understand that it has way past the check-in hour & the staff might be off duty, however this is not the service that I expect from a so called 5-star hotel customer service. Since the room’s soundproofing is bad, we were given another chance to overhear how Andy takes his customer service skills to the next level in the next morning. He was ranting about our late check-in & request for hair dryer at late night (oh ya forgot to mention that the room doesn’t come with hair dryer & only one bottle of universal shampoo or cleanser whatever you call that to clean your entire body or maybe even the toilet bowl also) in a very frustrated & rude manner. FYI, we did request for hair dryer from Andy but he said the counter has closed & no hair dryer & hung up the call. So we gotta go around to see if there’s any staff around to ask for it. Luckily there was an abang cleaning the room & gave us one from one of the rooms. We overheard & just kept quiet as we were still getting ready to check out in the room. We confronted him at the counter when we check out & Andy truly amazed us when he defended himself by saying he was just talking to his staff & he doesn’t think there’s any problems with being rude. Nevertheless, the hotel is undoubtedly stylish & comfortable in the sense that it truly provides an industrial-chic design with preservation of old building located at the heart of ipoh town surrounded by plenty of eateries & points of attraction. But the customer service, particularly this guy called ANDY, sorry I will never come back again as I don’t expect to pay so much in return for such hospitality.
